Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride-Chapter 981 - 977: Sister Li, What Is Your Profession?
Nicholas Croft leaned over and picked up the SpongeBob from the big bed, and handed it to Sophie Foster, "Uncle saw one on your bed, so I bought one back for you."
"Uncle Nicholas~" Sophie Foster pouted and hugged SpongeBob, acting cute and whiny, "Why are you always so good to Lara?"
Nicholas Croft laughed and ruffled Sophie Foster’s hair, "Silly girl, because you are Uncle’s little woman."
Sophie Foster pursed her lips in satisfaction, feeling delightful inside, and kissed Nicholas Croft’s face, "Uncle, you’re so good, Lara loves you to death!"
"Little thing, don’t just say it; show some real action."
Nicholas Croft tapped Sophie Foster’s forehead, and she threw the SpongeBob she was holding and clambered up Nicholas Croft’s neck, wrapping her legs around his waist, hanging onto him.
Once Nicholas Croft held her, she cupped his handsome face and gave him unstructured, random kisses, "Uncle, does this count as real action?"
"Little thing, are you planning to fill Uncle up first before lunch?"
"It’s Uncle who should fill Lara up first..."
Nicholas Croft spun around while holding Sophie Foster and placed her on the bed, his body following down, and the ensuing affectionate words turned into physical interaction, as the sparks from their body contact were far more thrilling than mere sweet talk.
Even though Nicholas Croft brought her back to his villa, Sophie Foster didn’t move in. Every evening after work, she’d come over with Nicholas Croft, occasionally traveling by herself when he was busy. During the day, after Nicholas Croft went to work, she returned to her rental apartment. Despite its dirtiness and disorder, it was the only place where Sophie Foster truly felt at home.
On weekends, Nicholas Croft took her to the club to play cards with a few brothers; it was also the first time Sophie Foster met Titus Zane.
Looking at the woman who seemed to have walked out of a painting, Sophie Foster couldn’t help but exclaim, "Sister Zane, how come you’re so beautiful, like a Fairy that doesn’t partake in earthly stuff!"
Titus Zane faintly curved her lips as a greeting, brought there to play cards by Nathan Moore, never quite understanding why, if he hated her, he liked bringing her out. Participating in banquets was understandable, but playing cards really didn’t require a companion.
"Sister Zane, what’s your profession?" With four men playing cards at the table, Sophie Foster and Titus Zane sat on the sofa chatting enthusiastically, although the enthusiasm was only from Sophie.
Titus Zane faintly curved her lips again, sparing words like gold, "Painting."
"Wow, a painter! No wonder Sister Zane’s temperament is so outstanding." Sophie Foster exaggeratedly widened her eyes, her heavily made-up face and non-mainstream outfit surprisingly not annoying, on the contrary, interacting with her felt comfortable. But Titus Zane, caught in her current circumstances, had no mood for making new friends, merely smiling slightly without much to say.
Feeling his own little woman proactively trying to be friendly yet being coldly ignored, Nicholas Croft was somewhat displeased. Though aware of Titus Zane’s aloof nature, his little woman was cherished dearly.
While playing cards, he pretended to speak casually, "Lara, come here, sit beside Uncle and help me with the cards."
"Oh, coming." Sophie Foster replied happily, then apologized to Titus Zane with a smile, "Sister Zane, I’ll chat with you later."
Being astute men themselves, Nathan Moore easily detected Nicholas Croft’s intentions. Seeing the bored Titus Zane sitting alone on the sofa, he coldly instructed, "Titus, fetch the cigarettes from my coat pocket." 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Titus Zane responded and got up, walked to the coat stand, retrieved the cigarette pack from Nathan Moore’s coat pocket, and placed it on the card table before turning to leave when Nathan Moore spoke again, "Sit down."
