Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride-Chapter 992 - 988: Have I Spoiled You Too Much?
"Misunderstanding?" The middle-aged man turned to Nicholas Croft and asked, the fat on his face flying, looking very displeased, "Director Croft, do you know this wild girl?"
Under the puzzled gaze of the others, Nicholas Croft placed Hannah Hargrave, whom he was holding, into the arms of her assistant and instructed, "Take Miss Hargrave to the hospital."
He stood up, walked over to Sophie Foster, took the neck of the wine bottle she was holding from her hand, and casually tossed it aside. Then he touched Sophie’s pale face, wrapped his long arm around her waist, and sighed, saying, "Sorry, Director Qu, the little thing has been spoiled by me, thinking there can’t be any women near me."
"Director Croft means..." Director Qu frowned in disbelief, full of doubt, because when Sophie Foster and Nicholas Croft stood together, they didn’t match in height or temperament at all.
Nicholas Croft looked like a refined gentleman, but Sophie Foster, dressed in a non-mainstream attire, looked like a clubbing girl.
"Yes, my little girlfriend," Nicholas Croft said, his lowered gaze filled with affection. He lifted his hand to smooth Sophie’s little braid, his gentle action and the contours of his handsome face were softened considerably.
At the dining table, Hannah Hargrave hadn’t actually been knocked out by Sophie Foster; she had just wanted to take advantage of the situation to nestle in Nicholas Croft’s arms.
Now, upon hearing Nicholas Croft’s introduction, she covered her still-bleeding head, looking hurt, while the others started to whisper behind their hands, clearly indicating with their gaze that Sophie didn’t match Nicholas Croft.
"Uncle," Sophie Foster pouted with grievance, looking pitiful and making one feel sorry for her.
Suppressing the urge to peck her on the lips, Nicholas Croft raised his hand to rub the top of Sophie’s head and softly said, "Lara, don’t be afraid, big sis won’t blame you."
After speaking, he looked at Hannah Hargrave, "Miss Hargrave, I’ll take you to the hospital."
"No need, Director Croft, I have my assistant," Hannah Hargrave coldly refused and, with the assistant’s help, got up. As she walked to the private room’s door, she glared fiercely at Sophie Foster and said, "I’ll reserve the right to pursue today’s incident!"
"What’s going on, everyone, what happened?" The restaurant manager hurriedly came in, just missing Hannah Hargrave, and was taken aback when he saw the blood seeping from her head. He quickly nodded and apologetically bent over, but Nicholas Croft stopped him.
"It’s nothing, just a misunderstanding, get on with your work,"
"Okay, okay, enjoy your meal," the restaurant manager politely retreated, and Nicholas Croft turned to look at the people at the dining table, saying with slight apology, "Everyone, given what happened, I think the matter of cooperation should be postponed for now. Next time, I’ll host and we can discuss it again."
After saying that, he bowed slightly, "Croft takes leave."
Seeing the CEO about to leave, Assistant Tang quickly stood up and picked up Nicholas Croft’s coat from the clothes rack to send it over, "Tang, please entertain the guests well for me."
Nicholas Croft instructed casually, took the coat, and left with Sophie Foster under the surprised gaze of the others.
After exiting the private room, the gentle smile on Nicholas Croft’s face disappeared, replaced by a distinctly stern expression.
He released the arm wrapped around Sophie Foster’s waist and strode toward the restaurant entrance.
"Uncle..." Sophie Foster called out with grievance, jogging over and took Nicholas Croft’s arm, "I’m sorry, Lara didn’t know Uncle was discussing work. Lara didn’t mean to..."
Nicholas Croft turned his gaze sharply over, looking very severe, "Sophie Foster, have I spoiled you too much?"
