Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride-Chapter 999 - 995: Are You Dating Silu?
In the early morning, the first ray of sunlight slipped through the gap in the curtain and landed on the face of the sleeping person on the big bed.
Sophie Foster frowned and raised her hand to shield herself, but the light was still glaring, making her nose itch. She rubbed her nose and murmured hazily, "Uncle." The man, sleeping with his eyes closed, responded and tightened his arm to draw the girl resting on it into his embrace.
They slept late last night, and it was rare for Nicholas Croft to have overslept past his usual work hours.
Sophie Foster’s little face was pressed against his chest, her lips slightly parted, emitting soft snores; the scene was so beautiful that even the sunlight slipping through the curtain seemed to quietly shift its place.
When both woke up, it was nearly ten. Nicholas Croft leaned back against the bedhead and lit a cigarette for himself, while Sophie Foster rested on his arm, idly playing with the small protrusion on his chest.
Music chimed—it was Sophie Foster’s phone ringtone.
She rolled over and fished the phone out from under the soft pillow. She hesitated for a moment upon seeing the caller ID, not immediately answering.
"Who’s calling?" In T City, Sophie Foster had few friends, and when someone occasionally called, it was either her landlady aunt or her colleagues from the night venue.
"Oh, it’s Landlady Grandma Liu." Sophie Foster lied with a smile, as Nicholas Croft puffed out smoke affectionately and asked lightly, "Why not answer?"
"Oh, I’ll answer it now," Sophie Foster replied with a smile, planning to answer the call by the floor-to-ceiling window. But Nicholas Croft’s suggestion left her with no choice but to answer it nervously.
Covering the phone with both hands, Sophie Foster turned slightly sideways and began, "Hello, is something up?" It was her first time speaking so formally with that man over the phone.
"Sophie, you said you were the one who hurt Lara?"
Instinctively glancing at Nicholas Croft, Sophie Foster admitted, "Yes."
There was a pause from the other side of the line before asking, "Are you dating Nicholas Croft?"
Again, Sophie Foster glanced at Nicholas Croft and evasively said, "I don’t have time right now. I’ll call you later."
After finishing, she hung up the call before the other party could respond.
"Have you fallen behind on rent again?" Nicholas Croft asked with a frown and doubt. Sophie Foster stuffed the phone back under the pillow and laughed it off, "No, I’ve paid for a year in advance. Grandma Liu said if someone wants to share the rent, it’ll help reduce my burden."
"Is that so?" Nicholas Croft raised an eyebrow, completely not believing Sophie’s explanation. Sophie Foster snuggled over and clung to his arm, coquettishly asking, "Uncle, where did you ask Lara to tattoo the butterfly last night?"
"Here," Nicholas Croft pointed to Sophie’s left chest with the fingers holding his cigarette. Sophie Foster leaned closer again, pulling down the shirt draped over her, "Uncle, the exact spot, you kissed here yesterday... "
Seeing that snowy white spot where a vibrant plum blossom bloomed in the center, Nicholas Croft’s gaze darkened, he took a deep drag from his cigarette before tossing it away and cursed under his breath, "Little minx, seducing me first thing in the morning!" 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
"Giggling... Uncle, don’t you like it?"
Sophie Foster naturally hooked her arms around Nicholas Croft’s neck, her straight legs wrapped around his waist, hanging onto him like a koala, while deliberately letting her little tongue sweep over her lips.
"I do like it," Nicholas Croft’s eyes were as if ink-stained, and as he spoke, his thin lips pressed down, capturing those pink lips in a gentle kiss, as his large hand softly caressed that spot.
Nicholas Croft only went to work after having lunch at home, while Sophie Foster also left after watching him drive away, carrying her backpack. She had to fix the trouble she caused herself and didn’t want Uncle Nicholas to take the blame.
