Chapter 298: Chapter 298: What Kind of Immortals Are They?

Nanny Lynch sighed again, "Miss, although I’ve always thought that you should strive and carve out your own realm, what you’ve been doing is far too dangerous. Look this time; they tormented you so severely. If Young Master Sterling hadn’t returned in time, I might not have seen you again."

"..."

Seraphina Redgrave was silent, just looking at her.

"In my opinion, Miss, you should let go of everything related to Veridian Isle. Don’t think about it anymore. Stay here and live comfortably with Young Master Sterling. Others can only envy a life like that." Nanny Lynch advised.

Upon hearing this, the curve at the corner of Seraphina’s lips vanished, and the light in her eyes dimmed, yet she still complied, "Alright, I won’t think about it."

She no longer had the opportunity or ability to think about it.

Nanny Lynch thought Seraphina had come to terms with everything and was so happy that her eyes crinkled with joy, "That’s the spirit. Don’t overthink. I’m getting old now, and I just wish for you and Young Master Sterling to live well. If possible, you could have a baby, and I’ll help take care of it."

Such days are truly beautiful.

Nanny Lynch’s happiness didn’t seem to affect Seraphina much. She took a sip of water with no particular expression and said, "I’ll wait in the room over there."

If the treatment were completed, and they came down, it would ultimately be inappropriate.

...

"Knock, knock."

The room door was knocked upon. Seraphina was in front of a mirror handling her wounds, swabbing with alcohol pads bit by bit, the pain knitting her brows tightly.

"Come in."

Seraphina tidied up her clothes.

The next moment, the door was pushed open from outside.

Dr. Goodwin appeared at the doorway carrying a large medical kit, and upon entering the room, he saw Seraphina’s complexion seemed paler than when he first arrived. The basket beside her was filled with bloodied cotton balls, quite numerous in count.

Dr. Goodwin couldn’t help but furrow his brows at the sight, as things didn’t look good on both sides.

"How is Ethan Sterling now?"

The first thing Seraphina asked about was Ethan.

"He’s still unconscious, but we don’t know how severe Young Master Sterling’s internal injuries are, so we’ve only conducted preliminary treatment. There will be results later." Dr. Goodwin explained, setting down his medical kit, preparing for the next steps.

"So why did you come down here?"

If Ethan hasn’t woken up yet, why would he come to see her?

"Young Master Sterling instructed me to be ready at any time when he disembarked, so my team is actually specially prepared for you, Miss. If your injuries are not promptly treated, when Young Master Sterling wakes up, I’ll be the one to pay the price." Dr. Goodwin explained, pulling a chair over to sit opposite her.

"Rest assured, as soon as the examination results are out, I’ll immediately return to treat Young Master Sterling." 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

Upon hearing this, Seraphina finally let out a breath of relief.

So Dr. Goodwin’s arrival was for her.

Seraphina didn’t say much more, unbuttoned her clothes, and pulled them aside, revealing a wound from a bullet, then asked, "Could Ethan have been beaten on the ship, perhaps even assaulted by a group? I don’t know if it injured his bones."

Dr. Goodwin was astonished upon seeing her wound and took a while to respond to her question, "Upon initial examination, Young Master Sterling’s ribs, along with his leg bones, showed some damage. But we’ll need a detailed check to know exactly the extent."

"So his sudden coma, could it be due to a fractured rib injuring internal organs?"

Seraphina’s expression turned instantly serious.

If both his rib and leg bones were broken, then the fact that he stood for so long at The Directorate was nothing short of a miracle. He even held her in his arms—was this man insane?

"Miss, no need to worry too much. If his organs were damaged, Ethan wouldn’t merely be unconscious now. Based on the test results just shown, Ethan isn’t at such a serious level." Dr. Goodwin reassured, explaining further the possible causes of fainting, "The main reason for Young Master Sterling’s coma is the severe bruising all over his body, a condition that might have killed someone else. But Ethan pulled through using sheer willpower, causing his nerves to collapse, uncontrollably fainting, which is quite normal."

No wonder Ethan could fight with Miles Harrington at The Directorate, but upon reaching the private manor, he fainted before even speaking.

He thought Ethan was just too exhausted and fell asleep.

Since the data showed nothing too serious, surely with Dr. Goodwin’s expertise, Ethan Sterling could be treated well.

Seraphina let out a sigh of relief.

Seeing this, Dr. Goodwin took out tweezers, alcohol, gauze balls, and scissors from the medical kit, looking at her wound in disbelief, "Miss, why were you shot? And how was it handled afterward for it to deteriorate like this?"

"I was shot when I first entered The Directorate, later had the bullet extracted; the situation wasn’t too bad," Seraphina explained, lowering her head to look at her wound, uncertain whether it was numb from pain. She truly felt nothing now.

"Your wound is severely inflamed, and some parts have already festered. Don’t you feel it?"

Dr. Goodwin was genuinely shocked. Such a wound would have had others rolling on the floor in pain, yet she still found time to inquire about Ethan’s condition. Not only that, but her voice didn’t even tremble.

These two—what kind of extraordinary beings were they?

Managing to endure something so serious.

One can’t feel a pustulent wound, the other breaks bones yet still fights with others.

"At first, it was indeed painful, but later, I was forcibly fed YJ520 for three days. All my pain nerves concentrated on that medication, so this wound, I truly don’t feel much now."

Seraphina explained.

"YJ520, what’s that?" Dr. Goodwin had never heard of it.

"It’s a drug specifically used for interrogating prisoners, making them delirious, suffer immensely, yet leaving no physical scars," Seraphina stated calmly.

Dr. Goodwin frowned deeply at this upon hearing, feeling very dissatisfied with The Directorate’s approach. "I’ve long heard that The Directorate uses any means to extract information from prisoners, but didn’t realize they’d go that far. I don’t know what other impacts this drug might have on the human body."

"Once Ethan wakes up, I’ll ask him to get one of these pills from Miles Harrington for you to study." Seraphina said.

But in truth, any additional effects were meaningless to her now. Her life was saved; merely living was fortunate enough.
