Mr. Sterling, Mrs. Sterling is Multifaceted!-Chapter 310: In Exchange for the Intelligence Network
Fine, he’s always been so unpredictable, I’ve long been used to it.
But hearing him say this, Seraphina Redgrave still couldn’t help but laugh, so she reached out to grab his ear, since his whole body was covered in wounds now, she’d bully his ear instead.
"Ethan Sterling, stop being such a rogue! Be serious for once."
Even in such a short time, Ethan had taken so many liberties with her.
"I’m your man. If I don’t act roguishly with you, then with whom, other women?"
"..."
She actually couldn’t find a retort.
"Try this." Seraphina thought this cream tasted pretty good.
"No."
"Open your mouth, I’ll feed you."
Ethan turned his head, snatched the spoon from her hand wanting to feed the cake to her. Seraphina was forced to dodge vigorously. Wanting to jump off the counter, she was held firmly in place by Ethan and could only burrow into his arms.
Ethan’s ribs ached a bit from her movement, but seeing the smile on the girl’s face in his arms, he couldn’t bear to let go, instead tightening his hold.
...
A dark luxury car slowly drove into the forest, surrounded by thick white mist which hung heavily. Tall trees blocked much of the sunlight.
The car stopped about ten meters away from the villa.
The driver was the first to get out of the car, respectfully walking to the back seat and opening the door, shielding the man’s head.
A handsome man stepped out of the car.
He was wearing a well-fitted suit, holding a postcard in his hand.
Today’s postcard still had no text, the picture on the back was of "The Tower" drawn by Seraphina Redgrave herself.
"Mr. Shaw, the road here is not easy to walk, let me deliver it instead." the driver said respectfully.
Hector Shaw stood by the car, glancing down at the postcard in his hand, "No need, I’ll go myself, the Seraphina Redgrave I know wouldn’t just hide away in an anonymous place like this villa."
He had to make her change her mind.
With those words, Hector Shaw resolutely walked forward, stepping onto the obligatory path leading to the villa, slowly making his way towards it.
Upon reaching the wall of the villa, he looked up at the towering gate, placing the postcard on a small ledge by the high wall and weighed it down with a small stone.
After delivering the postcard, Hector Shaw turned around, only to be greeted by two gun barrels pointed directly at him.
Hector Shaw was not frightened, his expression as calm as ever.
The hand behind one handgun belonged to Nathan Ayers, who lifted his slightly weary face and watched Hector Shaw vigilantly.
Lately, he had been at odds with Miles Harrington, if they met face-to-face, they might even have a fight, they were exhausted to the bone.
That morning, he had still been sleeping in bed when he suddenly received a call from Ethan Sterling, asking him to come to the villa to wait for someone.
To wait for a person from the South.
Nathan Ayers coldly looked at Hector Shaw, "Mr. Shaw, please, Young Master Sterling has wanted to meet you for a long time."
"Is this how you invite people, with guns?" Hector Shaw scoffed.
Nathan Ayers chuckled disdainfully, "Mr. Shaw, you should be thankful it’s not a gun sending you on your way."
After his words, Hector Shaw’s face turned a bit sullen, Ethan’s subordinates sure were sharp-tongued.
He didn’t resist, merely frowning slightly as Nathan Ayers rudely removed the pistol from his waist.
Following Nathan Ayers, they didn’t enter the villa but headed to another location.
Below a high cliff was a pavilion, beside which a waterfall roared, the river water splashing all around from the force of the waterfall.
Hector Shaw was pushed forward at gunpoint, walking to the outside of the pavilion.
Inside the open space stood a sturdy man, with his back to him, wearing a brown shirt. Just standing there, a terrifying aura emanated from all directions toward him.
Ethan Sterling.
The head of the financial tycoon in Z-country, with power beyond measure, just the mention of his name made people tremble in fear.
"The Shaw Family head came to visit me, Ethan Sterling, yet didn’t even use the front door? Insisted on taking the back path."
Ethan Sterling turned around, a mocking glint in his long and narrow eyes, a scornful curl on his lips.
"..."
Hector Shaw never believed his daily delivery of postcards could be kept a secret from Ethan, it was bound to be discovered one day. Therefore, he wasn’t panic-stricken upon being caught, keeping his steps steady as he walked toward him.
Ethan sat on the stone bench in the pavilion, idly playing with a knife that gleamed coldly, curling his lips as he watched Hector Shaw stride toward him step by step.
He sneered, "Broken your leg before?"
This piece of news had been well concealed, he had never heard of it during all his years in Sovereign.
Hector Shaw stepped inside, glanced at his leg, and nonchalantly said, "Yes, someone severed my tendon back then, it was Seraphina Redgrave who saved me after reaching Veridian Isle, thanks to her care, I was able to recover."
Ethan’s movements paused abruptly, his gaze turning sinister as he raised his eyes, glaring at him warningly, "Hector Shaw, it seems you don’t quite understand me. As for the South, I, Ethan Sterling, can destroy it at will."
As his words fell, the knife flew from Ethan’s hand, reflecting a terrifying light as it whizzed past Hector Shaw’s head, embedding itself straight into the wooden pillar behind him.
A murderous aura surged forth, even the splashing water from the outside waterfall carried the intent of slaughter.
"Mr. Sterling, you control the Sterling Group, most of Z-country’s national economy is in your hands, even the president today is someone you personally supported. So, at least in this country, there’s nothing you would value much."
Hector Shaw remained tough in demeanor, not intimidated by Ethan Sterling.
Despite having a leg disability, he was still the overlord of the South, he couldn’t lose his courage even when facing the immensely powerful Ethan.
Upon hearing this, Ethan Sterling’s laugh was chilling, idly toying with the knife’s sheath, his voice sending a shiver down one’s spine, "You have a fair assessment of your position, but your life was saved by my woman, so today I let you go. If you dare to come again, next time, I can’t guarantee what you’ll lose."
Hector Shaw smiled lightly, stepping forward instead, placing the postcard he’d held onto for a long time in front of Ethan Sterling, "In fact, even if Mr. Sterling didn’t invite me today, I would have found you next time."
"..."
Ethan made no sound, lowering his eyes to focus on the Tower illustration on the back of the postcard.
"I don’t want to waste Mr. Sterling’s time, so I’ll be straightforward, you know, the Shaw Family has never participated in the power struggles between conglomerates, only wishing to reside peacefully in the South."
Hector Shaw spoke with dignity, "If Mr. Sterling agrees to my proposal, then I’m willing to hand over the entire intelligence network of the Shaw Family to you as compensation."
With these words, Nathan Ayers standing outside the pavilion looked visibly shocked.
This was quite a substantial offer, the Shaw Family’s intelligence network had always been one of their trump cards. It was unclear how they managed it, but given enough time, they could uncover anyone’s secrets.
