Chapter 325: Chapter 325: You Leave

Until the sky grew darker, Ethan Sterling’s car finally came from a distance.

Seraphina Redgrave leaned against the door counting pebbles on the ground. Suddenly, a strong white light shone on her, and she quickly looked up.

It was Ethan who had returned.

She patted the invisible dust off her body and immediately ran over.

Seraphina ran a little too fast, the wind whooshing in her ears until the car stopped on the large open space in front of the manor gate.

Nathan Ayers got out from the passenger seat and opened the back door. Ethan Sterling, wearing a dark blue silk shirt, stepped down in large strides.

The car lights were blindingly bright at the front, making the space behind even darker. Ethan stood amidst the darkness, yet his presence was unmistakable.

Safe and sound.

These were the only words in Seraphina’s mind now. Her anxious heart was finally at ease. She ran towards him, saying, "Ethan."

Ethan looked at the girl in front of him. The car lights behind her made her look like a divine goddess coming towards him, as if to redeem him.

In her shallow dimples, there was a mesmerizing light, full of joy.

"..."

Ethan stood in place, staring at her, his gaze almost greedy.

This was the first time he deeply resented his own impulsive nature.

As Seraphina ran up to him, Ethan reached out and gently held her wrist, "Why are you running so fast? What if you fall? Do you miss me that much?"

"I have something to tell you, but you wouldn’t answer my calls."

Seraphina said, today’s news from Hector Shaw had to be shared with Ethan.

"I have something to tell you too. Come, let’s go inside."

With little effort, Ethan wrapped his arms around the girl in front of him, heading towards the villa.

In the washroom.

Ethan carefully washed his hands, standing behind her, enveloping her in his embrace, his large hand holding her small one under the running water.

"..."

Seraphina looked at her hand and couldn’t help but smile. He was acting like such a child, even at his age.

Ethan stood behind her, his head resting on her shoulder, his eyes lowered to watch the girl beside him. His movements were seriously meticulous, washing her fingers one by one, touching every inch of her skin.

"You still shouldn’t touch water."

Seraphina noticed the bandage on his index finger was getting wet and felt a bit worried.

"It’s fine, it doesn’t hurt anymore."

After a while, Ethan finished washing her hands, carefully dried them with a towel, kissed her forehead, and led Seraphina into the dining room.

Nanny Lynch had prepared breakfast early, placing dish after dish on the dining table, all delicious and aromatic, making one’s mouth water.

Nanny Lynch considerately turned off the dining room lights, leaving only the candle on the table flickering, casting a romantically warm glow on their faces, enhancing the atmosphere.

Seraphina chuckled softly, saying nothing, sitting opposite Ethan.

Ethan picked up a decanted bottle of red wine beside him and poured a glass for Seraphina.

In such an environment with such a person, no one could resist being captivated by Ethan.

While admiring his elegance, Seraphina began to discuss today’s serious matter, "Today, I received some alarming news—the conglomerates might have already colluded."

"The conglomerates have already colluded."

They almost simultaneous spoke the latter half of the sentence.

"..."

Seraphina was stunned, looking at his face under the candlelight, she breathed a sigh of relief, "Looks like you went out today to handle this. So, have you thought of a solution?"

"Solution?"

Ethan’s well-defined hand picked up the knife and fork, elegantly slicing the steak on his plate, he said, "Although usually, these conglomerates play their own games for利益, now that it concerns Veridian Isle, it’s the only thread connecting them, since it holds their individual lifelines. They used to squeeze those lifelines for coexistence, and now they can fight together to reclaim them."

Seraphina understood this logic.

She nodded, "Apart from Veridian Isle, the conglomerates uniting is also no good for you. But if the fight really breaks out, the Sovereign is bound to descend into chaos, and I don’t want to see that result."

"The best solution is for you to leave."

Ethan’s slicing of the steak slightly paused, but quickly resumed as normal, speaking as if discussing the weather.

"Wha-what?"

Seraphina thought she might have heard wrong.

"Staying here makes you my weakness. You don’t want to see the conglomerates unite against me, nor do you want the Sovereign to fall into disarray. So the best solution is for you to leave Sovereign."

As Ethan spoke these words, there wasn’t any excess expression, but he sounded extremely serious, "I arranged for Miles Harrington to hold a meeting with those conglomerates, notifying them that the night after tomorrow, I’ll hand you over to Miles. That day, I will stage a play without them noticing—a real act of death—and then you can head south. Hector Shaw will make proper arrangements for you."

Seraphina’s chewing suddenly halted. She looked at Ethan, trying to decipher any other meaning from his expression, but it was futile. Everything had been arranged without her knowledge.

"You’re asking me to leave."

Seraphina was still not entirely sure.

She knew Ethan’s controlling nature all too well. At first, he had insisted she stay by his side, not leaving for a moment. Why was he now asking her to leave?

"It’s fine if you’re unwilling. I’ll fight them."

Ethan immediately replied, a complex expression appeared in his eyes, unreadable, yet daunting, "Those words said to Miles Harrington at The Directorate were just out of anger. If it requires me to lose everything to fight against the fully prepared conglomerates, I’m still hesitant in my heart."

"..." Seraphina suddenly lost her appetite.

"But if you can’t bear to leave me, I can still fight them."

Ethan spoke with pride.

Seraphina looked at the man sitting across from her. Though his face was a bit somber, usually rebellious and unruly, he suddenly told her he would hesitate, and she found it strange.

But if one thinks deeply, it’s quite normal.

Since Ethan was young, he was exiled by his father to the frigid Hibiscus Garden. For twenty years, he relied on himself until finally securing control of the group into his hands the year before last.

For him, this group represented not just money and fame, but as evidence of his great revenge, involving the grievances of his late mother and sister.

If he won this fight, all would be well. If he lost, all he had would turn to dust, the torments of past years would begin anew. And it might not be just torture—Ryan Sterling would want his life.

How could Ethan tolerate that mother-killing enemy standing over him?
