Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 131: Come Pick Up Your Wife
At the school gate, a rather inconspicuous black Jeep was parked on the roadside.
The window of the driver’s seat was open, with just a hand wearing a men’s wristwatch resting on the window frame and holding a cigarette that was nearly burnt out.
Because it was the weekend, the number of people entering and exiting the school was much less than usual.
Through the car window, Shane was gazing towards the school gate, searching for the girl who always captured his thoughts.
This was not his first time here.
These past few days, he had been driving to her school, lighting a cigarette, and smoking it slowly.
Once the cigarette was finished, he would drive away.
Though he didn’t hold much hope, he still longed for the chance to see her from afar one day when luck was on his side.
As the cigarette burned out, Shane discarded the butt, took a few more seconds to look towards the school gate, started the car, and drove away.
Audrey Sutton ran out of breath to the school gate, standing at the roadside looking left and right, examining all the cars parked along the roadside one by one, but she didn’t spot Shane’s car.
She let out a sigh; due to the cold weather, her breath formed white mist.
She stood in the cold wind for a while, then returned to the dormitory, disoriented and dejected.
Because she had been running, much of the soup spilled out from the takeaway container.
Audrey Sutton, wiping with tissues and biting her lip, started shedding tears.
She couldn’t understand why she had ended up in such a mess...
After just a few bites, Audrey Sutton, crying uncontrollably, put down her chopsticks, turned around and nestled into her bed, curling up to freely release the emotions she had repressed for so long in the empty dormitory.
She cried herself to sleep.
A bit after four, Barry Barrett returned, entering the room and said, "Comrade Sutton, you didn’t sleep all day in the dorm, did you?"
Audrey Sutton awoke startled, blearily pulled open her blanket to look at Barry Barrett.
"Where are Flora and Sera, haven’t come back yet?"
Audrey nodded, her gaze somewhat unfocused.
Barry Barrett only thought she hadn’t fully awakened, plopped down on Audrey’s bed and said, "Your husband hasn’t come back yet? Normally during breaks you are nowhere to be seen, but today you’ve stayed in the dorm all day, that’s not normal. Did you have a fight with your husband?"
Audrey avoided Barry’s gaze and explained, "No, didn’t I say he went on a business trip? And it’s so cold, the bed is comfortable."
"Lazy! Quickly get up and help me choose photos, all taken today. He asked me to pick a few favorites for editing, but I find each one so nice, it’s driving me nuts."
Audrey forced a stiff smile and said, "You look good, so the photos always turn out beautiful."
"Wow, your sweet mouth is coated with honey?"
"Bang—" The door was pushed open from outside. Seeing it was Seraphina Vaughn returning, Barry Barrett immediately asked, "Sera, what are we eating tonight?"
Seraphina went straight into the bathroom and came out only after, saying, "We’re postponing the hot pot. Flora is heartbroken again, hahaha, she’s already on her way to the bar, called me on the way crying."
Barry Barrett, curious and gossiping, asked, "Heartbroken again? Didn’t she go out on a date today? And hasn’t she been dating that rich guy for months now? Considered her longer than usual romance?"
Seraphina, washing her face, said, "Weren’t the two supposed to go see a movie today? Unluckily bumped into a model, and ’boom’ went the truth. The guy was two-timing and got caught. You know Flora’s temper, she can’t forgive this, scolded him on the spot and walked away."
"Is Flora drawn to jerks? Why does she always meet such people?"
"Enough chitchat, hurry up and get ready with makeup."
Audrey, already feeling down, figured drinking might lift her spirits.
"Romantic Sentiments" is the name of the bar, it’s owned by Audrey’s fourth brother.
Knowing this place is safe, Audrey drank boldly.
Seraphina and Barry’s attention was almost entirely on the newly heartbroken Flora, Audrey occasionally joined the conversation.
No one noticed Audrey quietly sipping several drinks by herself.
Among the four, Audrey’s drinking capacity was the weakest.
Originally meant to console Flora, Audrey instead got herself drunk first, and yet Flora wasn’t much sober either.
"What’s up with Audrey tonight? She’s quiet but drank quite a bit," Seraphina asked Barry.
Barry said, "She spent the day alone in the dorm. I asked if she argued with Third Young Master, she said no, said Third Young Master was on a business trip, which is why she stayed in the dorm sleeping."
Seraphina frowned, "He’s back, isn’t he? I saw him having lunch with some men at the restaurant today."
"Back? Then why isn’t she home with her husband? Doesn’t seem like her?"
Seraphina confidently said, "Something’s definitely up between the couple. Being single is better, look at them."
Flora, holding her glass, rambled on, cursing all the bad men, repeating the same few phrases, then lifted her glass to Audrey saying, "Dear sister! Cheers!"
Audrey laughed drunkenly, raised her glass to clink with Flora’s.
Their glasses clinked awkwardly in drunkenness, but it didn’t stop them from finishing the drink.
When Flora went to pour more and found the pitcher empty, she immediately grabbed a passing waiter and said, "Another...another pitcher, won’t...hic...quit until drunk."
After drinking another half pitchers, Audrey slumped onto the table, flopped down like a pile of mud.
Flora wasn’t drunk to that extent yet, mocked Audrey, "You’ve...you’ve tapped out...you lost! I can still drink!"
Seraphina sighed and said to Barry, "It’s getting late, they’ve drank quite enough. You call Audrey’s fourth brother to come take care of her. We’ll handle taking Flora back."
Scott Sutton followed Barry over, saw Audrey slumped at the table, frowned, "How did she end up like this?"
"She drank like it was water. Fourth Brother, please take care of Audrey, we’re heading back first."
Seraphina and Barry took off with Flora. Scott looked at Audrey in silence for two seconds, then pulled out his phone from his pocket and dialed a number...
Shane stood in his office, looking down at the city’s night view through the floor-to-ceiling window.
"Buzz—buzz—" The phone on his desk vibrated.
He knew the call wouldn’t be from her, so he didn’t rush to answer. He took a leisurely drag of his cigarette before turning to pick up the phone.
It was an unfamiliar number.
Upon answering, he heard a man’s voice saying, "Romantic Sentiments, come pick up your wife."
Shane was taken aback, knowing Romantic Sentiments was her fourth brother’s bar, then realized the caller must be her fourth brother.
"What’s wrong with her?"
"Drank too much, hurry and come take her home!"
Shane furrowed his brow, stubbed out his cigarette in the ashtray, grabbed the jacket from the chair back, and took the elevator directly to the parking lot.
Drove straight to Romantic Sentiments.
