Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 621: I Just Want to See Her Happy
Audrey Sutton rolled her eyes at Phoebe King, who promptly explained Audrey’s heavy thoughts to Laura Yates.
Then the three women clustered together and started discussing.
A woman’s imagination is vast. One can conjure up a grand scene in her mind, let alone three women.
Phoebe King: "In my opinion, she’s probably eyeing the Suttons’ family fortune, a typical gold digger."
Laura Yates: "But she doesn’t seem like it, and she earns quite a high salary herself."
Phoebe King shook her head: "Not every money-lover wears greed on their face. Some women love to flaunt and aim to catch rich husbands, pretending to be elegant when they’re secretly calculating. If she really marries in, dealing with someone so scheming will surely be exhausting for us."
Audrey Sutton: "I feel like my Brother Five doesn’t like her, like he’s caught by something she has on him. It’s weird."
Phoebe King nodded in agreement: "That’s true. Your Brother Five looked worried tonight. He always was quiet, but he’d at least smile when we spoke. Today, he had no expression, totally absent-minded."
Laura Yates: "Hey, do you think it’s possible she’s reborn? Like Lan Irving didn’t really die, and her soul traveled into a female doctor to approach you guys? Maybe she’s not targeting your Brother Five but your husband!"
Audrey Sutton was bewildered, and Phoebe King laughed, giving Laura Yates a playful smack: "Sister-in-law, have you read too many novels? Reincarnations, soul traveling? How could it be that two people look exactly alike?"
Laura Yates thought about it and seemed to agree. After pondering, she added: "Could it be... Lan Irving never died? Maybe she was already skilled in medicine, but you never knew, and so she reappeared under a new identity?"
Audrey Sutton shook her head: "That’s unlikely, Brother Xavier was involved the whole time in her events, so it definitely wasn’t a fake death."
Phoebe King: "Who cares, I doubt one woman can take on the three of us. Even if she marries in, we’ll just make her life hard together!"
Audrey Sutton: "I don’t think my Brother Five would marry her."
Phoebe King: "How about this, I’ll take a chance to speak ill of her in front of our mom, so mom won’t like her. Winning over mom’s favor is a big deal. I’m the perfect example! It’s because mom liked me that I married into your family."
Laura Yates: "Seems like mom still likes her quite a bit."
Phoebe King: "She’s clearly not simple. Just sweet-talking mom like that. Did I ever teach her my tricks? How did she know how to please mom right upon arriving?"
"Ding-dong——"
Hearing the phone, Audrey Sutton immediately picked it up, seeing Shane’s message: I’ll have Faye Xavier look into it. Until I return, stay at mom’s place, try not to go out.
Audrey Sutton originally felt all right staying home alone, with Brother and Sister Phoebe nearby, but after seeing Catherine Porter today, she felt a bit uneasy and agreed to move back.
After telling Phoebe King, she suggested moving over to stay for a few days too, saying it wouldn’t be fun alone there.
Mainly because they could enjoy good meals there.
After dinner, Evan Sutton went upstairs with some books for Catherine Porter and then saw her off.
Audrey Sutton and Phoebe King’s decision to stay over was met without objection, so Stephen Sutton accompanied them to pack their things.
In the car, Catherine Porter still sat in the backseat, flipping through a book under the changing weak lights outside.
Evan Sutton drove with a heavy expression, remaining silent throughout.
Catherine Porter closed her book, looked at Evan Sutton in the driver’s seat, and smiled, "What’s bothering Director Sutton?"
Evan Sutton did not respond, Catherine Porter smiled and continued, "Your sister’s baby... if I’m not mistaken, it’s over four months now?"
Upon mentioning Audrey Sutton, Evan Sutton tightened his grip on the steering wheel, his tone and gaze icy, "Try laying a finger on her."
Catherine Porter smiled, "Actually, my target isn’t your dear sister. I don’t want to harm her or her innocent child. But my target is too powerful, if you don’t help me, I might have no choice but to use her."
Evan Sutton gritted his teeth, "Help you?"
Catherine Porter: "I’ll be honest, my enemy is your brother-in-law, Shane Warner. If you help me kill him, I won’t trouble you or your sister anymore."
Evan Sutton: "Kill Shane Warner? Why?"
Catherine Porter: "You don’t need to know why. Just find a way to do it. Cause a medical accident, a car crash, fall, or an attack by a mentally ill patient... I’m sure a smart Director Sutton has plenty of ideas. Once you do it, I’ll disappear from your and your sister’s lives immediatley."
Seeing Evan’s silent hesitation, Catherine Porter added, "Think about it, without Shane Warner... wouldn’t you legitimately be able to care for your sister and her child?"
Evan Sutton: "I just want to see her happy."
Catherine Porter: "People are selfish, don’t act so noble."
Evan Sutton: "We’re here."
Catherine Porter glanced outside: "Thanks."
After grabbing the book beside her, she got out of the car, standing by the door, "Director Sutton, give it some thought, choose between your sister and brother-in-law. I’m sure a smart Director Sutton knows what to do."
After saying this, Catherine Porter closed the door and left with her book.
Evan Sutton didn’t linger, driving away.
Regarding Catherine Porter’s words, he certainly wouldn’t harm Shane, knowing how important he is to Audrey Sutton.
With the child due soon, losing a father now would be an irreparable blow to both the child and the mother.
Of course, he wouldn’t let Catherine Porter hurt Audrey Sutton.
The worst-case scenario is that Catherine reveals his feelings for Audrey, and he would have to leave the Suttons, never appearing before them again, never seeing Audrey.
He’d rather endure this torment than let Audrey get hurt.
As he was momentarily distracted, Evan Sutton didn’t notice the little girl suddenly emerging from the roadside greenery, just about a meter away from his car...
