Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 637: Pregnancy Makes You Silly for Three Years
Shane was trapped abroad due to heavy snow, with no definite return date.
Audrey Sutton originally planned to stay home and knit scarves with Phoebe King for the next few days, but her sister-in-law urged her to submit some drafts quickly. So, Audrey had to obediently stay in her room and draw.
She had also promised her readers a bonus side story of "Bunny Doesn’t Eat Grass" by Christmas, and with the holiday fast approaching, Audrey didn’t have much free time left.
In fact, she had already thought of the scenes for the bonus side story in her mind, but she hadn’t started drawing them yet.
Additionally, she was supposed to post a Christmas-themed sketch in the reader’s group, and she had promised a slight increase in artistic boldness. Although Audrey, who had previously made suggestive art, had never done detailed work, she found herself uncertain about how to proceed at critical points.
She tweaked and revised several times but still wasn’t satisfied, feeling it wasn’t the effect she wanted.
"Ding-dong—"
Suddenly, the phone screen on the table lit up. Seeing the contact’s name, a smile immediately blossomed on Audrey’s face. She hurriedly grabbed her phone, unlocked it, and replied to Shane: It’s about eight or nine in the morning over there, right?
Shane quickly replied: About right, eight-twenty.
Audrey: Didn’t you just wake up?
Shane: Why not? There’s nothing to do, so I slept a bit longer.
Audrey: That’s unlike you. You’re always up on time at home. Did you have some physical exertion last night?
Shane naturally understood the tease in Audrey’s words. Sitting by the bed, he smiled at his phone screen and replied: You’re not here, so what physical activity could I do?
Before Audrey could type another word, a video chat request popped up on the screen.
Without thinking, Audrey answered and saw Shane adjusting the camera until it focused on his face. Sure enough, he looked freshly awake, still in his robe, with a slightly lazy gaze as he asked her, "Where are you?"
Audrey switched the lens to the rear camera, stood up, and panned the camera around the room, asking with a smile, "Where do you think I am?"
Shane recognized it at a glance but didn’t answer, instead asking, "What are you doing alone in the room? Didn’t you say Phoebe was there with you?"
Audrey lay down on the bed and lazily replied, "I have to draw to support you."
Shane chuckled and said, "Switch the camera back; I want to see you."
Unlike before, Audrey didn’t care about her appearance during video calls with him, at least not needing to find a flattering angle. Now she clearly didn’t mind, lying there as she switched the camera to herself, turning her head comfortably on the pillow, with one side of her face squashed. She didn’t care and just asked Shane on the phone, "How long until you come back?"
Shane didn’t answer, just shown the view from his side of the window. Outside the tall building, the landscape was covered in white, with snowflakes still falling heavily. "The weather forecast says I definitely can’t leave in the next couple of days; I’ll see how things are after Christmas."
Audrey pouted in disappointment: "Then what do you do all day? No work, just staying in the hotel all day?"
Shane smiled lightly and said, "You can work from the hotel. If you don’t trust your husband, should I just keep this video call on?"
Seeing that her little thought was seen through by Shane, Audrey blinked and argued, "Do you think your wife is that petty-minded? I was just concerned you’d be bored, not anything else."
Audrey talked a lot with Shane, sharing both big and small matters, including things about Catherine Porter.
When Catherine was mentioned, Audrey felt like Shane might have found something but didn’t say, as if he had a plan.
Audrey trusted that knowing Shane was aware, he wouldn’t let them be harmed, so she didn’t press further.
As they chatted, Audrey started to feel drowsy in the afternoon. Shane, noticing her yawning several times, said, "Take a nap. My breakfast is already cold. Make sure to rest well, don’t draw for too long at a stretch. Get up and move around occasionally, don’t sit too long if you keep complaining about back pain. I’ll massage it for you when I get back."
Audrey nodded: "You take care and get some rest too. Be safe, don’t catch a cold."
"A kiss."
Audrey couldn’t help but smile, bringing her mouth close to the phone camera and making a "mua" sound, which finally satisfied Shane, ending the call.
After putting down the phone, Audrey turned over, pulled the blanket, and quickly fell asleep curled up inside.
The pregnant woman downstairs was feeling much more energetic than this one upstairs.
Without Audrey to accompany her in knitting scarves, Phoebe King lost motivation as well.
The balls of yarn and knitting needles were left on the sofa, while Phoebe curled up on the couch under a soft blanket playing mobile games, even voice chatting with a guy.
In the afternoon, there weren’t many people at home; most had gone to work, even Norman Sutton had gone out of state for a competition.
Hazel Yates had been spending most of her time with Lana Holloway these past few days, going out early and returning late, absolutely adoring her new young apprentice. She would bring her back for dinner every evening before calling a driver to take Lana home.
In the afternoon, most of the servants were either resting or working outside the courtyard, so Phoebe was alone in the living room, having a great time with the voice chat on.
Around three in the afternoon, the sound of a car came from outside. Phoebe, engrossed in her game, didn’t notice and continued talking to her teammates: "Come quickly and save me, I’m out!"
A girl’s voice came from the phone: "Phoebe, your skills have gotten worse; not even an 8x scope helps."
Phoebe chuckled, "It was a mistake, stop blabbing, just save me first!"
Another male voice chimed in: "On my way!"
Then another male voice jokingly said, "Saving her is pointless, just finish her off. It’s easier."
Phoebe: "Luc, screw you!"
As soon as Stephen Sutton opened the door, he heard this and immediately frowned.
Phoebe hadn’t realized someone came in. Her position was facing away from the door, and she kept cursing at her phone: "Haven’t I won chicken dinners for you? Do you have any conscience?" 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
Luc teasingly said: "Pregnancy brain! Seeing how you’re playing today, I won’t play any games with you for the next three years."
Phoebe: "Get lost! Who needs you, Bunny, kick him out later!"
"Don’t, if Luc leaves, we’re really toast."
While talking, the healing was completed. Phoebe manipulated the game character on the phone, jumping around, and said, "Wait, wait! Someone’s coming over there; let’s ambush them!"
"Ahem—" Stephen Sutton stood at the door and lightly cleared his throat to announce his presence.
Phoebe was startled by the cough, nearly dropping her phone. She immediately sat up on the sofa and smiled at Stephen Sutton walking towards her, "Teacher Sutton?!... Why are you back so early?"
