Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 680: Bait
Now that Clarissa Morgan is in prison, Catherine Porter doesn’t dare to make any big moves.
She thought Evan Sutton was the only one she could restrain, but now he is gradually slipping out of her control.
Why is it that her sister’s body is barely cold, yet they can as if nothing happened, enjoy their so-called happiness?
In the afternoon, Catherine Porter drove to the prison, and along the way, she always felt like someone was following her.
"Miss Morgan, I can hardly recognize you."
Clarissa Morgan’s face was pale, her entire body emaciated, with deep-set eyes, lacking any of her former elegance and confidence, like a creature locked in a dark corner, inducing pity in others.
"If you’ve come to laugh at my misfortune, then you’ve seen enough, you can leave now." Clarissa Morgan spoke hoarsely.
Catherine Porter chuckled, "Why would you say that, Miss Morgan? Although our objectives differ, our goal is the same. Losing such a wise friend as Miss Morgan is truly regrettable."
Clarissa Morgan laughed mockingly, feeling that Catherine Porter was there to mock her.
Catherine Porter: "You’ve ended up like this, and Shane Warner cannot be absolved of responsibility. Since you’re destined not to obtain him now, there’s nothing to hold you back, even if it meant that he was the one to die, wouldn’t that be a form of recompense for you?"
Clarissa Morgan’s expression suddenly turned vicious, and she said with clenched teeth, almost frantically, "I want them all dead!"
Catherine Porter: "I can help you."
Clarissa Morgan: "Help me?"
Catherine Porter: "Also helping myself, but I don’t currently have any reliable people around me, so I hope Miss Morgan can help me make an introduction."
Clarissa Morgan let out a derisive laugh, "Do you think, in my current state, there’s anyone who would still listen to me? Everyone’s afraid of getting burned, they’ve long disappeared without a trace."
Catherine Porter: "Miss Morgan, think carefully, there must be someone who still stands by your side during your downfall."
Clarissa Morgan pondered for a moment before her expression turned alarmed, warning Catherine Porter, "Don’t involve her!"
Catherine Porter smiled, "I think she would also very much like to know who turned her outstanding daughter into this, and who destroyed the labor of her life’s careful nurturing."
Clarissa Morgan: "You mustn’t harm her!"
Catherine Porter acted as if she hadn’t heard Clarissa Morgan’s objection, smiling as she stood up, looking through the glass at the fear on Clarissa Morgan’s face, and hung up the phone.
On the way back from the prison, Catherine Porter looked at the black car in the rearview mirror and dialed a number. Ivan Yardley’s voice came through the Bluetooth earpiece, "What’s up?"
Catherine Porter: "I won’t be over today, let’s not meet for a while, someone’s following me."
Ivan Yardley: "Are you okay?"
Catherine Porter: "It must be that Shane Warner is suspicious and sent someone to investigate me. They won’t harm me. I went to see Clarissa Morgan..."
Ivan Yardley: "Why did you see her?"
Catherine Porter: "I’ll explain later, I’m just thinking now, if our plan fails, would we end up like her?"
Ivan Yardley paused and said, "Lan’s path was her choice. If avenging her means falling into the same trap, it’s not worth it. If Lan knows she has a sister alive, she’d surely want her to live well, not sacrifice herself for her."
Catherine Porter sneered, "Ivan Yardley, what nonsense are you talking right now?"
Ivan Yardley: "I’ve read some of Lan’s old diaries recently, and I’ve come to understand some things."
Catherine Porter: "How you feel is your business, I won’t give up on avenging her."
After speaking, Catherine Porter seemed somewhat annoyed with Ivan Yardley’s attitude and hung up the phone.
In the car behind, the driver called Faye Xavier to report Catherine Porter’s movements.
Faye Xavier immediately relayed the information to Shane Warner: "Master Shane, that woman surnamed Zhou said she went to the prison, most likely to see Clarissa Morgan, and then she returned to the hospital."
Shane Warner: "It seems she really does have a connection with Lan Irving."
Faye Xavier: "What do we do now?"
Shane Warner: "Stop following her, let her have the chance to act, so we have the opportunity to catch her, don’t we?"
Faye Xavier said with some concern: "About Mrs. Warner..."
Shane Warner: "I know, I wouldn’t risk her safety. Catherine Porter’s target is me, so naturally, I should be the bait."
Faye Xavier: "Let’s still have a couple of people follow, we don’t know what she’s planning."
Shane Warner: "Just follow my wife, I need to act like I’m letting my guard down, otherwise, how would Catherine Porter dare to show herself?"
Faye Xavier: "But isn’t that too dangerous?"
Shane Warner smiled and said, "People are gambling with their lives, how could there be no danger at all? I’ll take care of myself."
...
Around five in the afternoon, hospital meeting room.
The meeting had just ended, and the doctors were gradually walking out of the meeting room.
A group of people gradually entered the elevator.
"Director Sutton, are you planning to transfer to another place? Other places don’t have better conditions than Rivia, people are all scrambling to get to Rivia."
Evan Sutton: "Go where you want, conditions gradually improve over time."
"Director Sutton’s level of awareness is different from ours, I really admire you."
"When will Director Sutton leave? We should throw a farewell party for you."
Evan Sutton: "No need to trouble everyone, I still have to take exams there, so I need to focus on studying these days."
"We really can’t bear to see Director Sutton leave."
"Director Sutton, do come back to visit when you have time, we will surely miss you."
Evan Sutton smiled, and as the elevator reached the floor, he walked out.
Walking through the corner, down the straight corridor, he could see from afar a girl sitting outside his office door.
He knew she wouldn’t be easily dismissed.
Evan Sutton walked over and immediately acted like he didn’t see Hannah Sue, and Hannah Sue didn’t try to approach him to talk, just sitting there like a lost child on a chair by the wall.
He went back to his office, briefly organized some documents, and began preparing for his transfer and handover, not taking any patients.
At six o’clock, it was time to get off work.
He looked out through the window on the door, and Hannah Sue was still sitting in the same place, without moving.
He wondered what kind of trick she was up to again.
Evan Sutton changed his clothes, pushed the door open, and continued to act as if Hannah Sue didn’t exist.
This time, as soon as he walked about a meter away, Hannah Sue stood up and followed him.
She didn’t talk to him, just followed him from a distance neither too far nor too close.
They entered the elevator, there were others inside too, the elevator wasn’t crowded, yet she maintained a small distance, standing behind him.
He went to the parking lot, and she followed.
Evan Sutton stood by his car, then turned to look at her, and asked blandly, "What do you want?"
