Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 703: Just Like My Hero
Audrey Sutton reached out and took Summer into her arms, jokingly saying, "Sister Phoebe, did you get salt and sugar right this time?"
Phoebe King proudly said, "I even tasted it myself. I think it’s delicious, so I brought it over for you to try as well."
After changing into slippers in the house, Phoebe King asked, "Where’s your Anna?"
Audrey Sutton pointed with her chin to the baby cradle by the living room sofa and said, "Sleeping, like a cat. Sleeps during the day and makes a fuss at night, his dad’s got dark circles from him."
Phoebe King said, "Summer likes to sleep both day and night, and she only settles for your big brother. As soon as he holds her, she stops crying. I’ve held her trying to soothe her for ages, but she just doesn’t settle, feels like I’ve given birth to a little rival in love."
Audrey Sutton looked lovingly at the chubby, pink-cheeked Summer in her arms and laughed, "Our Summer just doesn’t want Mom to get tired, so she prefers Dad to hold her, right?"
Summer didn’t understand, just looked around with her big eyes.
"Wah—wah—" From the cradle, Anna began waving her arms and legs, crying.
Phoebe King put down the basket of cookies, reached over, and picked up Anna from the cradle, "Our Anna woke up knowing her little sister came over."
Audrey Sutton put Summer on the sofa and said grumpily, "Definitely pooped."
Phoebe King lifted Anna to smell her, then wrinkled her nose in disgust and handed Anna over to Audrey Sutton, who laughed as she took Anna and carried her to the bathroom for cleaning.
"Ding-dong—"
Just as Audrey Sutton went upstairs, the doorbell rang again.
Phoebe King got up to take a look, and when she saw who was outside, she immediately opened the door, "Laura, why are you here?!"
Laura Yates, with her big belly, was followed by a driver holding a large basket of fruit. She said, "Mom said we picked quite a bit of fruit from the yard today, so I had someone bring some over for you and Audrey. I just dropped by; staying at home is driving me nuts."
Phoebe King hurriedly helped Laura Yates into the house. Laura Yates said to the driver, "Leave the basket here, go about your work. I’ll call you when I need to go back."
The driver nodded, put down the fruit basket inside, and left.
Phoebe King, worried about Laura Yates’ big belly, cautiously guided her to sit on the living room sofa, "Your due date is almost here, right?"
Laura Yates nodded, "One more week. Mom wants me to go to the hospital a few days early to wait."
Phoebe King said, "It’s better to go early. I didn’t wait until my due date. I gave birth on the way to the hospital, didn’t even make it to the delivery room. Audrey’s brother was terrified just watching from the car. I hardly knew how I gave birth, almost passed out from the pain."
Laura Yates sighed, "He hasn’t managed to get a leave yet. He’s been leaving early and coming home late these days. I just hope he’s there with me when I give birth."
Audrey Sutton had heard the noise downstairs and, after changing Anna’s diaper, hurried down, "Sis-in-law, why are you here? Did Mom let you out?"
Laura Yates smiled, "Mom went to The Yates Family compound. I heard the driver was coming over to bring you fruit, so I quietly tagged along. Staying at home feels like I’m stiffening everywhere, just wanted to get out for a walk."
"My second brother hasn’t gotten a leave yet?"
"He can only take three days off. He can only take leave after I give birth. Fortunately, he’s been getting off work quite timely lately, so he can accompany me in the evenings."
Audrey Sutton placed Anna on the sofa to play with Summer. While making milk formula, she asked, "By the way, how did my second brother chase after you? I always thought he’d be the last among the brothers to get married."
Laura Yates smiled wryly, "I can’t even remember how we got together. It all happened when my family was pressuring me to marry, and he abruptly interrupted? In that moment, he seemed so handsome, like my hero."
Phoebe King said, "That’s credit to the second brother. Otherwise, you two would still probably be in a mess."
Audrey Sutton said, "I was puzzled back then about which woman would escape from Shane’s marriage, but then I realized my second brother had stepped in."
Laura Yates replied, "These coincidences are all fate."
After feeding Anna her milk, Audrey Sutton went to the kitchen counter to start preparing lunch, chatting while cooking, and the atmosphere was harmonious.
Laura Yates sat on the sofa, entertained by the two kids one moment and then frowning, clutching her stomach, with a pained expression, gasping, "...Phoebe, Audrey, I...I think I’m about to give birth."
Audrey Sutton paused in her movements, and Phoebe King was also stunned for a moment, then they both scrambled over in a hurry. Though they’ve given birth before, they had no experience with delivering a baby, and suddenly found themselves overwhelmed.
Phoebe King said, "Don’t panic, don’t panic, take deep breaths."
Audrey Sutton said, "I’ll call for an ambulance!"
Phoebe King quickly got up, changing shoes while heading out, "I’ll drive over, that’ll be faster. Audrey, you stay at home and watch the two kids, and remember to call your second brother."
Phoebe King quickly ran out, and within a couple of minutes, having driven over from their nearby home, she parked the car at the door. Together they helped Laura Yates into the car. Though Audrey Sutton was worried, she had to stay to watch the two children at home, only able to watch Phoebe King and Laura Yates leave. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
She returned inside and quickly called her second brother and mom, and also let Shane know.
Shane, hearing Audrey Sutton’s panicked voice, returned home immediately. Then the two of them, each holding one child, had the driver take them to the hospital.
When they arrived at the hospital, only Hazel Yates and Phoebe King were waiting outside the delivery room. Franklin Sutton probably had to frantically explain work to his colleagues before arriving, rushing in half an hour later.
"How’s it going? Where’s Laura?"
Hazel Yates pointed to the delivery room, "She hasn’t given birth yet."
Franklin Sutton anxiously approached the delivery room door, peering in, but there was another door in between, making it impossible to see anything.
Just then, a doctor came out. Franklin Sutton immediately spoke to the doctor a few words, then after some discussion, the doctor led him to Laura Yates’ delivery room.
The delivery rooms were separate and individual cubicles, but the doctor said that generally, unless the family actively requested accompaniment during delivery, they didn’t recommend having family along. However, it’s now common enough, and with cooperation, family members can provide comfort and encouragement to the mother, which can be helpful.
Franklin Sutton was just at the delivery room’s threshold when he heard the loud cry of a child. As he pushed the door open, he heard the delivery doctor inside say, "It’s done, a baby boy. Note the time and weight."
