Chapter 72: Chapter 72: Riding Her Husband’s Fame

The truth came to light, and Starfield had a splendid victory.

Yet reporters asked persistently: "Young Master Warner, we heard that you’re not managing Starfield yourself now, can people still trust Starfield?"

Shane Warner turned his head to look at Julian Bishop on the side and said: "Mr. Bishop is like half a mentor to me, and the company is just temporarily managed by him. In terms of the quality of works, both Mr. Bishop and I personally oversee it, so everyone can still trust Starfield as before."

"Thanks for the explanation."

Shane Warner smiled and nodded, then added: "One last thing..."

Everyone quietened down, thinking he was going to announce something major, only to see Shane Warner point at the comic page on the screen and say: "My wife is a very talented comic artist, feel free to check out her works when you have time."

Upon hearing this, Flora Lane slammed her laptop shut: "Showing off again! So frustrating! When will heaven send me a husband like that!?"

Seraphina Vaughn sighed: "Audrey must have accumulated so much virtue in her past life to land such an extraordinary husband."

Barry Barrett: "And a bunch of divine brothers."

Seraphina Vaughn immediately said: "I don’t have any hope for Shane Warner, Audrey, introduce your third brother to me? If not, Professor Sutton is fine too."

Barry Barrett: "Fourth brother works too."

Flora Lane: "I want the fifth brother." 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

Audrey Sutton rolled her eyes at them: "Is Six okay with you? I can set it up right now."

The three simultaneously threw disdainful glances, they’ve tried to set up Audrey’s brothers before, but it’s all in good fun and nothing serious.

After all, relationships depend on fate, not on her randomly matchmaking.

...

After the press conference, Shane Warner organized an impromptu meeting but didn’t point fingers at who leaked the incident, he only issued a warning: "If there’s a next time, I won’t care if you’ve been with the company for five or six years, I will only make you understand the price of betrayal. If your heart is with Celestine, openly resign and I won’t stop you, just no need for these sneaky games. Meeting dismissed."

Everyone gradually left the meeting room, except Faye Xavier who remained seated.

Lan Irving, being Faye Xavier’s direct assistant, dared not leave without her.

Once everyone else was gone, Faye Xavier took out a pack of cigarettes, lit one, took a couple of puffs, and turned to Lan Irving, saying: "Master Shane has treated you very well, don’t take him for a fool."

Faye Xavier quickly finished the cigarette, stubbed it out, and walked out of the meeting room.

Lan Irving was left standing, feeling a bit guilty, she never intended to harm Starfield.

She did this in hopes of Shane Warner returning to Starfield.

She thought, with such a mishap once Julian Bishop took over, even if Shane Warner didn’t ask him to leave, Julian Bishop would propose to step down and Shane Warner could take control of Starfield again, allowing her to see him every day.

But unexpectedly, everything backfired.

Meanwhile, Celestine was quickly besieged by the media, yet Ivan Yardley smartly responded, saying it was a designer from his company who had copied Miss Sutton’s work without his knowledge, and they had already fired that designer and pulled the new product from shelves.

The farce then came to a close.

No one imagined that Audrey Sutton ended up being the biggest beneficiary.

With Shane Warner’s promotion, everyone admired Audrey Sutton’s talent.

Everybody knew Starfield had high standards for design drafts, and one of her comic works caught Shane Warner’s eye, making everyone view her as a promising new comic artist.

Her comics reached new heights of popularity, and the website seized the chance to announce plans for a physical book release.

Of course, Audrey Sutton’s comics weren’t popular just because of hype, they contained substantial artistic value.

Scenes, settings, and character costumes in her comics had a strong national charm and certain cultural value.

Since Hazel Yates’s family has a tradition in embroidery and an established style called "Yates Couture," Audrey Sutton grew up surrounded by this, naturally learning much traditional knowledge, which she then applied in her comics.

Watching the comic scores reaching new heights each day, Audrey Sutton was absolutely delighted.

She, this little salted fish, had finally turned over.

Yet after her leap to fame, some peer authors started gossiping, saying she only got popular because of her husband.

Audrey Sutton wasn’t in any authors’ groups, but still heard such whispers.

However, she didn’t mind, isn’t it nice to rely on one’s husband for success?

It’s not like she relied on someone else’s husband.

The website’s camping trip was happening tomorrow.

It would be Audrey Sutton’s first author gathering, but having Laura Yates and Vanessa Sterling accompany her, she didn’t feel nervous.

Instead, Shane Warner, away on a business trip, called her in the evening to remind her of what camping essentials to bring.

Although Audrey Sutton had already checked online, she didn’t interrupt Shane Warner’s rambling, since it was nice to hear his voice while he was away.

Many authors were coming from other places, so the company specially rented a coach bus for transportation.

Authors like Audrey Sutton who lived nearby chose to meet up at the destination themselves.

Laura Yates drove herself, bringing along Audrey Sutton, Vanessa Sterling, and a dog—General.

Without Miles Sterling around, Vanessa Sterling seemed to relax significantly.

Possibly more familiar with Laura Yates, unlike when Audrey Sutton first met her, when Vanessa seemed reserved.

Although she didn’t speak much, Vanessa is a particularly introverted and quiet girl.

You could feel she carried many stories within.

They arrived at Hibiscus Lake, it was past nine in the morning.

Including editors and authors, there were over fifty people, roughly half male and half female.

August’s heat was fierce, but fortunately, the tree shade was comforting and the breeze by the lake was pleasant.

The organizer, after tallying the numbers and assigning tents, led the boys to set up tents while the girls prepared lunch.

The RV was stocked with ingredients and kitchenware, Audrey Sutton and Vanessa Sterling were in charge of washing fruit.

Laura Yates had brought several authors along with her, still busy greeting them all.

Being new, Audrey Sutton hadn’t paid much attention to the author community, so she might recognize some names but not faces.

Additionally, she didn’t know if those online critics were among these authors, so she refrained from greeting strangers.

Luckily, Vanessa Sterling also didn’t like mingling much, giving them company in the group.

Though Vanessa Sterling generally didn’t initiate conversations, Audrey Sutton thought for a moment and said: "Luna mentioned you’re the same age as me, so how about calling me Audrey, and I’ll call you Vanessa?"

Upon hearing this nickname, Vanessa Sterling paused in washing grapes, then gave a small, warm smile and softly replied: "Sure."
