Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 764: Being Loved Is a Very Happy Thing
Norman Sutton returned to the first floor and found a spot to sit in the public lounge area.
He occasionally glanced down at his phone to check the time, and occasionally looked towards the stairway leading to the second floor.
Even if Lana Holloway went directly to the parking lot, she would still have to pass by these stairs.
After waiting for about half an hour without catching sight of Lana Holloway, he saw Lance Quincy descending the stairs while on the phone.
Norman Sutton looked in the direction Lance Quincy was headed, where the sign on the roof indicated the parking lot.
It seemed more than likely that Lana Holloway was here.
Sure enough, within a few minutes, he saw Lance Quincy and Lana Holloway walking over together from the direction of the parking lot.
That woman, still dressing so meticulously, not to mention the makeup, and her hair was done up as well.
Her clothes too, she usually wore nondescript cotton coats with jeans, but today she wore an elegant long black dress.
She was a completely different person.
Could it be that she knew ahead of time that Lance Quincy was going to propose here today, so she dressed up so beautifully?
Norman Sutton grumbled inwardly as he followed the two upstairs.
The two were just looking at paintings in the gallery on the second floor, as if Lance Quincy were a tour guide and Lana Holloway a tourist, but there wasn’t any particularly intimate behavior.
They were just chatting and laughing together, which was quite annoying to watch.
Norman Sutton walked to the spot where Lance Quincy and Lana Holloway had just been standing, wondering what kind of masterpiece they had been discussing for so long, only to find a piece of paper full of chaotic lines, much like the doodles he used to make on scrap paper in class.
Could this be called art?
Seeing Lance Quincy and Lana Holloway turn a corner into another hallway, Norman Sutton hurriedly followed without much thought.
As he turned the corner, he found Lana Holloway looking back, and his gaze met hers directly.
Norman Sutton’s heart skipped a beat, but then he realized that dressed like this, Lana Holloway wouldn’t recognize him, so he quickly turned to look at the painting on the wall in front of him, pretending to be earnestly admiring it, even taking out his phone to fake taking a picture of it.
"What’s wrong?" Lance Quincy asked softly.
Lana Holloway muttered in confusion, "I keep feeling like someone is following us."
Lance Quincy glanced at Norman Sutton and smirked slightly, comforting Lana Holloway, "Have you been watching suspense dramas lately? With all these people around, you’re just imagining things."
Lana Holloway shook off her doubts and laughed it off, saying, "Maybe, I’ve been watching a few suspense movies lately out of boredom."
Lance Quincy said, "Aren’t girls supposed to love romance series?"
Lana Holloway replied, "I watch those too. Most of my evening time is spent binge-watching, so I like to see all kinds of shows to keep things fresh."
Lance Quincy said, "You’re lucky. I haven’t had time to properly watch a TV series in a long time."
Lana Holloway smiled and explained, "I was lucky to meet my mentor, so now I have some free time. When I used to make a living selling paintings, I was so busy that I would forget to eat."
Lance Quincy said, "I’m not actually that busy either. I just don’t want to let myself be idle. If I had a girlfriend to keep me company, I probably wouldn’t be like this now."
At that point, Lana Holloway’s smile turned awkward, and she laughed dryly, unsure of how to respond.
She thought Lance Quincy was a nice person, but developing a romantic relationship seemed a bit too fast.
As friends who shared common interests, Lance Quincy was indeed a very good friend.
However, since they met through a blind date, Lana Holloway felt that some things needed to be clarified with Lance Quincy.
"Well... Quincy, actually, I’m not planning to think about relationships so soon, and I believe deciding to spend a lifetime with someone takes a long time and a lot of understanding, so... if you’re in a hurry, you could..."
Lance Quincy smiled gently and interrupted, "I understand what you mean. I’m not that casual either. Being friends first is always okay, right?"
Lana Holloway bit her lip and smiled, nodding softly, "Yeah."
The two walked side by side through the gallery, and after some thought, Lance Quincy asked, "If two people can’t have mutual feelings, would you choose someone who loves you or pursue someone who doesn’t?"
Hearing this question, Lana Holloway suddenly thought of Zachary Wilson. Maybe it was because she had tasted the bitterness of unrequited love, she answered, "I think I’d choose the former. Being loved should be a very happy thing."
Lance Quincy asked again, "What if you don’t quite like that person?"
Lana Holloway thought for a moment and said, "I think if he continually treats me well, I might gradually come to like him."
"Hmm... and if that person proposes before you fall in love, would you accept?"
Lana Holloway seriously analyzed, "I think it depends on the person. You can’t generalize. If I don’t know him at all, I definitely wouldn’t impulsively agree. If I know a bit about him, and he has questionable morals, I’d surely refuse; if I have a good impression, I’d consider it, observe him for a while, and then decide."
Lance Quincy teased with a smile, "What if that person is me?"
"Huh?" Lana Holloway was stunned for a moment, a shy look immediately appearing on her face, and then realizing Lance Quincy was joking, she half-jokingly replied, "Then I’d consider it."
Lance Quincy chuckled, nodding, "Hmm, that means you have a good impression of me."
Norman Sutton followed at a not too distant pace, watching the two chatter endlessly without knowing the content of their conversation.
If things continue this way, a marriage proposal might not even be necessary; will they realize how they missed their chance and skip straight to the registry?
How eager is Lana Holloway to get married? Will she accept any man without hesitation?
Then again, though he doesn’t like Lance Quincy, there’s nothing really wrong with the guy.
He has the looks and height that girls can’t resist, exudes a gentle demeanor, is successful in his career, and has some recognition in the industry, plus he’s in the same field as Lana Holloway, making him probably her ideal partner.
Are they planning a whirlwind marriage before Lance Quincy returns to Serephina?
And then Lana Holloway follows him to settle in Serephina, has a half-blood kid, and the kid calls him uncle in broken Chinese?
No way, just imagining it makes him furious.
There are some things that become lifelong regrets once missed.
No matter what, he must stop Lance Quincy’s proposal today!
