Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 95: None of What She Has Belongs to Her
Miles Sterling bent down slightly, reached out to pick up the bouquet placed by the car door, and examined it with a smile, "Very romantic, roses. Do you like them?"
Vanessa Sterling lowered her head, not daring to speak.
The next second, the smile on Miles Sterling’s face vanished instantly. He picked up the blooming bouquet of roses and struck Vanessa Sterling on the head...
The petals scattered on the ground with the force of the blow, and a small clump of ash fell from his cigarette onto Vanessa Sterling’s white dress.
Vanessa Sterling protected her head with her hands, shivering in the corner by the door.
Miles Sterling stood up in the car, holding the bouquet, and struck Vanessa Sterling several more times until the flowers in his hand were completely destroyed and even the stems were broken. He finally tossed the scattered stems at Vanessa Sterling.
A flower stem scratched Vanessa Sterling’s cheek, and blood seeped out of the cut, left unwiped.
She looked at him in terror, not daring to resist, explain, or argue...
All she could do was wait for him to finish venting his anger...
Miles Sterling stepped out of the car, quickly rounded the vehicle, opened Vanessa Sterling’s door, and before she could react, he reached out and dragged her out of the car.
Vanessa Sterling’s feet barely touched the ground. His dragging force was strong, and her knee hit the ground with a thud, causing intense pain.
Miles Sterling ignored this and even dragged Vanessa Sterling a short distance until she was lying on the ground.
Her white dress was now covered in dust, and her elbows, knees, and palms were scraped on the rough concrete.
Miles Sterling looked down at her from above, not even extending a hand to help her, only saying coldly, "Get up."
Vanessa Sterling endured the pain in her knee, slowly got up from the ground, just as she steadied herself, he pushed her hard, shoving her into the elevator.
Vanessa Sterling stood in the corner of the elevator, clutching her aching arm, her face pale with fright, cold sweat beading at her temples.
When the elevator reached the floor, Miles Sterling once again roughly dragged her out, opened the apartment door, and directly threw her before her room door, shutting it with a bang, not caring about her falling to the ground.
This door was different from others. It was locked in reverse, and with him locking it from outside, she was trapped inside the room.
Vanessa Sterling actually sighed with relief. At least she no longer had to endure physical pain.
She slowly got up from the ground, looked down at her abrasions, the one on her knee being the most serious, even causing noticeable pain while walking.
She carelessly wiped the blood from the wounds with a tissue, washed them under the tap in the bathroom, and searched the drawer only to find out the band-aids were all used up.
"Buzz—buzz—" The phone in her bag started vibrating.
It was Jasper Jones calling.
"Vanessa, are you okay? You left in such a hurry, did something happen?"
Vanessa Sterling’s fearful emotions hadn’t completely disappeared, her voice trembled slightly, but she tried to control it, making it not so obvious, "...I’m fine."
"Really okay?"
"Yes."
Only then did Jasper Jones smile reassuringly, not wanting to hang up, he said, "Thank you for watching the movie with me today, I..."
Before Jasper Jones could finish his words, Vanessa Sterling heard footsteps outside the door. Without thinking, she immediately cut off the call. The next second, Miles Sterling pushed in, his gaze falling on the phone in her hand, walking over slowly, he bent down and took the phone from her hand.
He checked all her social media and call records, then asked her, "How far have things gone?"
Vanessa Sterling explained softly, "... just a friend from the writers’ circle, work-related interactions."
"What’s his name?"
Vanessa Sterling knew Miles Sterling’s methods, and she remained silent, afraid he would cause trouble for Jasper Jones due to unfounded suspicions.
However, her silence only angered him more, "I asked you, what’s his name?"
Vanessa Sterling, her eyes red, explained, "...really just friends, there’s no other relationship."
"Ding dong—" The phone chimed.
Probably because she hung up so suddenly, Jasper Jones sent a WhatsApp message asking why.
Miles Sterling looked at the message Jasper Jones sent, sneered coldly, "He cares about you a lot, doesn’t he? I haven’t let you out much, yet you still use your seductive tricks to lure people in."
Vanessa Sterling only shook her head in denial as Miles Sterling bent down, grabbing her hair to force her to look at him.
With a sinister smile, he said, "It’s alright, keep seeing him. Maybe someday when I’m in a good mood, I’ll take you to the hospital to see him."
Vanessa Sterling cried, trying to explain, "I really have nothing to do with him. I promise I won’t have any contact with him in the future, okay?"
Her tone was almost pleading, just hoping Miles Sterling would let go of the matter soon, and afraid he really would hurt Jasper Jones.
Miles Sterling sneered, looking at her with vicious eyes, "No worries, now that Quentin Sterling is married, it’s normal for you to find a new target. But remember what I say, Vanessa Sterling, no matter who you love in this life, I’ll never let you have your way!"
With that, he released her hair, smashed the phone on the ground, and as if not satisfied, gave it a hard kick before flinging the door open and leaving...
Covering her face, Vanessa Sterling broke down in tears, picking up the phone from the floor, its screen cracked but still barely usable.
The page displayed the message Jasper Jones had sent one minute ago, asking why she suddenly hung up.
Vanessa Sterling didn’t explain, she simply replied: Don’t contact me anymore.
Afterwards, she deleted all of Jasper Jones’s contact information.
Hoping by doing so, to keep Jasper Jones out of this.
When Miles Sterling loses his mind, he’s capable of anything. He doesn’t care who’s truly innocent; he only acts on his paranoia.
She knew his methods; that’s why she feared him so intensely.
Vanessa Sterling didn’t know what Miles Sterling regarded her as all along—a pet, a toy, or an object he could torment and vent on at will.
Nothing belonged to her, including her freedom.
...
Audrey Sutton was sunbathing on the beach with Shane Warner when she received a call from Jasper Jones: "Vanessa blocked me, she blocked all my contacts. Does she really hate me that much?" 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
Hearing this, Audrey Sutton sat up on the lounge chair, "Huh? Did you do something to make her unhappy?"
"No, we were fine after watching the movie. But after the cinema, she seemed to meet someone, and left in a hurry. I called her later, she said it was nothing but hung up quickly. Then she sent a message telling me not to contact her anymore. Before I could ask why, I realized she had deleted me as a friend."
