Chapter 15: Tomb Lord

Her eyes widened as the realization of what Sett had said finally sank in. She stared at her hands, flexing her fingers, then down at her newly grown arm, which now looked as natural as the other. The pale skin had fully blended, and the muscles beneath were firm and strong.

"I... I'm a Tomb Raider?" Zarah repeated, her voice trembling with a mix of disbelief and excitement. "But how? I thought only the chosen ones could become Tomb Raiders! And... and I was just a normal thief!"

Sett crossed his arms, leaning on a wall near the siblings, his golden eyes glinting with amusement. "You were a normal thief. But the Tomb Hearts don't care about your past. They only care about your potential. And apparently, you've got plenty of it."

Zarah's face flushed, and she looked at Zainah, who was still kneeling beside her.

"Sis... did you... did you do this for me?"

Zainah nodded, but then shook her head. She embraced her sister tightly. "You were dying, Zarah. And Sett... he helped me find the Tomb Hearts. He saved you."

She didn't tell her that Sett was indeed the mummy that had kicked her into the coffin.

Sett appreciated that.

Zarah's gaze shifted back to him, her earlier confusion replaced with a newfound respect.

Not only was this person so handsome, he had even saved her. In fact, he had even helped her become a Tomb Raider. He had probably also saved her sister.

She felt an immediate sense of respect, reliance, and trust.

What a man!

She didn't mind having such a brother in law, even.

"Thank you," she said, her voice sincere. "I don't know how I can ever repay you. Is my sister's body enough payment?"

Sett's eyes brightened and he chuckled. "Yes. But she seems to dislike it."

Zainah's eyes twitched. But then, she sighed, her eyes mellowing.

Even now when she looked at Sett, she didn't see a human being. Nor a hot man. She saw a monster, a mummy, a man in a mask.

He was cold. He was a murder machine.

But no matter what...

"I truly can't ever pay you back for all the things you did today," she said subconsciously. "I... truly can't."

If she hadn't met Sett, who knew what would have happened?

Maybe her sister might have died. Maybe they both might have.

Sett waved a hand dismissively, though a small smirk played on his lips. "Don't mention it. Just focus on getting used to your new abilities. Being a Tomb Raider or an Axiom Holder isn't just about having a fancy title. It's not just strength, but discipline, survival. You've got a long way to go."

Zarah and Zainah both nodded, their determination shining through. Training? Hard work?

Not everyone had the luxury to be strong with just that. More than a bit of luck was required and they had met that requirement. They had been blessed with tremendous fortune.

"I'll do whatever it takes," Zainah said, looking at her slightly confused sister. "I won't let this opportunity go to waste."

Zarah smiled and moved to pat her sister's back, but Sett appeared out of nowhere and held her wrist with immovable strength. "Do you want to crush your sister, you little devil?" He ruffled the girl's hair. "She is weak and you have no control over your own strength."

The girl blinked with a wronged expression. Sett pointed at the floor with his eyes. Both of the sisters looked down at the floor and they were both surprised. The floor was full of cracks, all centering around Zarah as the source.

"...oops."

...

They conversed for a while longer, but then, finally, Zarah asked, "This place is so mouldy. Shouldn't we leave?"

Zainah looked at Sett.

Sett nodded. "We should leave."

"How are we going to leave?" Zarah asked curiously.

Sett looked around and while at it, explained. "When a Guardian Mummy reaches the Sacred Tier, they automatically become the master of the Tomb they are in. Of course, that is if they are of the same Tier as the Tomb itself and there is no other equally powerful mummy inside.

"When they become the master of the Tomb, they can let anyone out and anyone in."

"Oh..." Zarah nodded. She didn't understand anything. "Makes sense."

Sett nodded, satisfied at how intelligent the girl was. He began feeling for the air around him and as he wished for it, the very light in the atmosphere began to warp. The girls watched in awe.

Soon enough, a dark blob of aura appeared in the area, soon transforming into a translucent gateway. They could see a desert just beyond it.

"It's the Mesopen Desert area," Zainah said, "the place I entered the Tomb from."

"Enter the gateway and you can leave," he said.

Zarah didn't hesitate and yawned as she wlked into the gate. She didn't care about leaving the Tomb as much as she cared about going through this curious gateway. It felt so tinly as she moved, she couldn't hold back a chuckle.

Soon, she appeared in the desert on the other side and looked up at the blue sky. As expected, it was immensely hot at this noon-time.

"Are you not leaving?" Sett asked, looking at Zainah.

She hesitated. "Are you not coming? Why do I feel like you plan to stay?"

Sett blinked with a weird expression. "I don't plan to stay. Just go in. We are not even married yet you are already unwilling to separate."

Zainah fumed and stormed into the gateway. But just before she left, she paused and ran towards Sett.

"I've never done this before," she said urgently and closed in on his face with pouty lips.

He smiled and held her back by her forehead. "Don't be in a hurry. I look good but I haven't had a bath in years. First, let me groom myself and all."

She froze, then her face became a picture of disgust as she ran away.

...

Sett's expression became serious.

Finally, he himself came close to the gateway and touched it. Immediately, he felt a deadly sense of crisis assault him. If he moved even an inch out, he would die. But he wasn't panicked, he took a deep breath.

Limitless Magic: Tomb Lord.

This was a simple ability. It was the ability to absorb Tombs into oneself as if they were just another Tomb Heart to be used as elixir. Of course, he couldn't absorb any Tombs he wanted—he could only absorb Tombs which he was the master of.

As he used the ability, the world around him began to warp and flow towards him. He became a hole in existence, one that absorbed everything. Sett closed his eyes. For what seemed like hours, this continued until finally, he opened hie eyes to find himself in an unfamiliar desert. Two women stared at him with wide eyes.

In the middle of his Heart Zone, where the Tomb Heart floated, was now also a small drop of illusory light. It was nearly invisible. And within that light, the whole Tomb that they had just conquered was there.

It had become his personal space.

And since he himself WAS the tomb, of course he could walk around in the real world.
