Chapter 76 - Crow VS Otherworlder "Aki"

I turned to Aki. Without hiding, I pulled out a red and green talisman and shoved them into my mouth, clenching my teeth on them, ready to activate the buffs.

Aki’s expression changed.

"Talismans?"

"..."

I got into a combat stance and walked to the center of the training field. However, Aki kept looking back and forth between Sylveria and me.

"Wait, wait, wait. How did you get the talismans?!"

Sylveria frowned. "Aki. Get to your position."

"But master! Something is not right. Talismans automatically disappear after spawning if they are not used within a minute! He shouldn’t have had that!"

Whatever she was yapping about, I didn’t care. Blood gushed into my eyes.

Hurry.

The signal.

Or else. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Oh, wait. Wasn’t it up to the person being challenged to set the place and time for the duel?

Screw you. Just die.

This game world was too small for two otherworlders to coexist!

I kicked the ground and charged at Aki. My horizontal slash aimed for her neck. The black mist sword drew my musou energy, transforming the mist into black flame.

"!!!"

Aki’s eyes widened. She leaned backward. The tip of my sword grazed her neck, leaving behind a centimeter-deep cut.

Too shallow. I missed the artery.

Still, blood gushed out, and her flesh caught flame. Trotture had died to that. Let’s see how you fare, wench!

Aki’s eyes shifted and turned blue. Water manifested around her and extinguished the flame on her neck. She took three steps back while her hand phased through an invisible wall or dimension. She pulled out a longsword.

Was that the INVENTORY?!

Screw you, bitch! Why did you have it?!

Moreover, another water user?

I had had enough of these clowns. Taking a firm step forward, I altered my posture and followed up with a reverse diagonal strike.

My sword collided with hers. However, my blade bounced off. An attack-reduction debuff applied to the sword for five seconds upon contact with a disadvantageous element.

Damn elemental disadvantage!

Aki sneered and pointed at my face. A mass of water manifested and covered my entire head.

"Game over, rookie." Aki laughed.

I saw her game. Suffocating me with water? Too bad for her. Blame Sylveria for giving me a certain dual-cultivation method.

I gathered all musou forces within me, including from my kidneys and liver, where my backup energy from the deed had been stored. Those were Lia’s.

My blood vessels received necessary nitrogen and oxygen from the musou energy instead of my lungs.

Ignoring the external suffocation, I hacked at Aki again, this time from above.

"It’s useless!"

Aki laughed and leaped backward prematurely.

As my sword came down, I shifted my weight forward, turning the pose into a thrust. Kicking the ground, I charged.

Aki’s face changed. She sidestepped.

The tip of my sword and my stance followed. Against a water user, I could not allow her to gain distance.

At that moment, my front teeth chewed the red and green talisman. My entire body turned dark green. My perception heightened, and my physical strength soared.

CLANK.

My flame sword hit her water bubble barrier and broke it. My blade clashed with her sword.

A section of my mist sword turned blue, weakened by the water element.

Yet, it didn’t bounce. The attack buff and the attack reduction debuff canceled each other.

"!!!"

Aki received the impact and faltered. Her stance broke.

MUSOU ULT!

Excuse my caps.

My mist sword and my body ignited as I plunged it into her stomach. My blade pierced through her leather armor, her flesh, and her innards. The tip of my blade hit the hard soil of the field after cutting through her spinal cord.

Flame erupted from the inside and gushed out from her orifices.

My aura erupted, causing a flame shockwave. A five-meter-wide dome expanded and vanished.

Under me, Aki’s charred body remained.

I pulled out my sword. The water engulfing my head fell to the ground and dissipated into smoke.

Done. Stay dead, bitch.

First PvP Event:

Crow 1 – 0 Sylveria.

I turned to Sylveria and exhaled deeply. Was she satisfied? Her expression turned dark. Her cunning smile was gone. That was the face I liked.

"I haven’t given the signal yet," Sylveria complained.

"But you didn’t stop the match," I argued.

"..."

"As a reminder, the challenged reserves the right to decide when the duel starts."

"...I know."

Sylveria scoffed and turned to the female knights, who held the deed and the scroll with their fingerprints. Clicking her tongue, she exited the training field.

I turned my attention to Aki’s followers. They knelt and raised the deed and the scroll to me.

"From now on, our lives are yours."

Five hundred common soldiers, three knights, a thousand slaves, and land, right? Not bad for a starter, but lands could be robbed easily. Commoners and slaves were basically cannon fodder. Three knights? Level 4? They were bedwarmers at best. I couldn’t count on them in an actual battlefield.

But if I took it that way, Lia and Lenitia were useless too.

In short, the loot was worthless. Sylveria would have expected it since she only knew how to exploit people for her father.

I stopped the train of thoughts and faced the spectators. This was my most vulnerable time.

My musou gauge had run out. My stamina was thirty percent spent, and I had already used my talismans. I still had a dragon seal, but I would rather save that for big fights.

While I watched them, I snatched the pin off Aki’s corpse.

"Anybody else wants a piece of me?"

No one replied.

Thought so. Actually, I was relieved.

I pocketed the pin and returned to the training dummy area. The seniors welcomed me.

"A bit heavy-handed, but you’ve done well. Do you have experience in that kind of fight?" A senior gave me a thumbs up.

"That was a mismatch, wasn’t it? Excellent decision not leaving space. Had you opened a distance, you would have died," another chimed in.

I was glad the seniors were friendly. I chatted with them while we waited for Solus.

However, the crown prince and his followers arrived first.
