Chapter 210: Chapter 139 Plot, Sun Changkong, Great Sage Equal to Heaven (Request for Monthly Tickets)
The cold light filled the confinement room, making even a healthy complexion appear pale and gaunt; even the most fit body would seem like a skeletal doll under the pale light’s invasion.
After the Mentor left, Ji Minghuan got up and walked over to the table, taking the tray back to the front of the TV.
He sat cross-legged on the cold floor, watching the animation "Neon Genesis Evangelion" while eating the toast and baguette from the tray.
No idea how long it had been, just as he finished the food and dusted the crumbs from his palms, a sudden rumbling noise echoed in his ears.
The door at the entrance was opened once again.
Ji Minghuan, legs crossed and hands around his ankles, glanced curiously to the side, only to see a figure that, at first glance, was neither boy nor girl.
If one had to find an appropriate word to describe, it would be "tomboy," right?
This "tomboy" wore the same white patient’s gown as him, but with a baseball cap on her head, sporting medium-length red hair. The color looked natural, not dyed.
Ji Minghuan was taken aback: "A girl?"
When he first heard the name "Sun Changkong" from the Mentor’s mouth, his initial reaction was an image of a rugged man with monkey fur on his face.
But considering the actual age, it’s likely just a hyperactive brat, or maybe a half-human, half-animal being like Filio. However, he never expected Sun Changkong to be a girl.
Sun Changkong lowered her face, red bangs pressed by strands of hair. She stood motionless at the door for half a second, then walked over, frowned and said:
"I hear you are quite powerful."
"Powerful in what way?" Ji Minghuan retorted.
"Destroying the world."
"If I could really destroy the world, would I still be sitting here chatting with you?" Ji Minghuan sneered, "I hear you’re quite powerful too."
"Powerful in what way?" Sun Changkong perked up her ears.
"I won’t say."
Sun Changkong froze, her tone turning cold: "Are you going to say it or not?"
"Not saying."
Black lines immediately appeared on Sun Changkong’s forehead.
She was about to reprimand him when Ji Minghuan suddenly casually mentioned, "You are a noble catastrophe-level Power User, holding the mythic Anecdote Fragment ’Great Sage Equal to Heaven Sun Wukong,’ unparalleled in the world."
He said without turning his head, then glanced at Sun Changkong: "Right?"
"Yes."
Sun Changkong nodded, her lips curled up revealing small tiger teeth.
"Then could you show me a bit of what you can do?" Ji Minghuan hesitated, "Or are your powers restricted?"
"I could show you if you become my underling." Sun Changkong crossed her arms.
Ji Minghuan raised an eyebrow, thinking surely she wasn’t left unrestricted by the Salvation Society, that’s impossible, unless they were crazy. Otherwise, how could they let a mythic power holder freely move around the base?
Thinking of this, he glanced at the metal collar on Sun Changkong’s neck and spoke: "Boss Lady."
"No show for you." Sun Changkong glared back.
"I think you can’t show anything." Ji Minghuan responded indifferently.
"Who says I can’t show anything?"
"Isn’t it known all kids here are given suppressants? Stop pretending to be the big wolf."
"Oh." Sun Changkong snorted coldly, "The suppressant you’re talking about. I didn’t receive it."
"Impossible." Ji Minghuan declared confidently, "The Mentor told me that holders of mythic Anecdotes could destroy a nation. If he’s right, your powers must have been suppressed by them."
"I’m telling the truth." Sun Changkong frowned, "I haven’t received the suppressant, but I actively cooperate to suppress my powers."
"Why? Why would you suppress your own powers?"
"Because I accidentally released Sun Wukong when I was young, it disobeyed my orders and did many bad things."
"Bad things?"
"Yes, I was too weak then, couldn’t control the Anecdote’s power. After summoning it, it went out of control."
"How exactly did it go out of control?"
Sun Changkong fell silent for a moment, then sat beside Ji Minghuan, eyes raised towards the TV. Asuka’s Unit-02 was pierced by the blood-red Lance of Longinus, only to be mercilessly devoured by the mass-produced units that grew wings.
"Are you tempting my curiosity, then backing off?" Ji Minghuan glanced at the TV, then at Sun Changkong, "You really are a bad egg."
Sun Changkong turned her head, meeting his gaze: "Do you really want to know?"
Ji Minghuan nodded.
Sun Changkong slightly parted her lips, whispering: "It killed everyone in a village, including my parents, then the Mentor found me." Speaking to the end, though she feigned calmness, her voice still quivered uncontrollably.
She paused, turning to stare at Ji Minghuan: "So, after hearing that, are you a bit scared of me?"
Ji Minghuan couldn’t care less, shrugging, thinking how extreme they are, one devoured his own mom, another killed his family.
Just then, he suddenly widened his eyes slightly, his thoughts dispersed, a horrifying conjecture formed in his mind: "Could it be... these seemingly out-of-control acts are actually guided by the Salvation Society?"
He thought, given the Salvation Society’s current capabilities, they could very well guide Filio to eat his mother, or lead Sun Changkong’s Anecdote Fragment to lose control and massacre an entire village.
If that is indeed the case, then their motives and purpose might actually make sense:
