My Avatar is Becoming the Ultimate BOSS-Chapter 830 - 411: Caged Bird
"Really?"
"Uh-huh," Ji Minghuan nodded, "Then you won't hear thunder, won't have ringing in your ears, won't experience hallucinations, maybe you'll even make some great friends."
"Can't you be my friend?"
"You're worth better friends."
"Even though I know you're just being dismissive...thank you."
"You're welcome, I have to go."
"Goodbye."
"Goodbye."
After saying goodbye to Wu Qingjie, Ji Minghuan got up from the wall and returned along the path to the inside of the confinement room.
He knew that the Mentor had suddenly opened the door in the middle of the night, intending to let him and Wu Qingjie meet, as a way to soothe Wu Qingjie's impending psychological turmoil.
But actually, this was all inconsequential, just some condescending pity.
Once the Artificial People are officially completed, these Mythical Level children will all become disposable tools used by the Mentor. The Mentor would not spare them. Artificial People are his tool for cleansing the world, a blade utterly obedient to him.
...
...
Soon, Ji Minghuan walked back into the confinement room.
His and Wu Qingjie's confinement rooms were very close, not far apart, which was a noteworthy piece of information that might come in handy the day they invade the Salvation Society.
Ji Minghuan had just returned to the bedroom when suddenly, a shadow entered the confinement room again.
Curiously, he looked up, only to see the person wearing a big white coat, her black hair tied into a bun, dark circles as always heavy, and her expression as always lazy.
Koajenna was here.
She was an unexpected guest; Ji Minghuan assumed that after Koajenna left the Salvation Society a few days ago, she wouldn't be back anytime soon.
"Hey, working girl, why are you back? Isn't it vacation time?" Ji Minghuan was stunned for a moment, then got off the bed and, quite naturally, pulled out a chair to sit by the table.
"I'm free now." Koajenna stuck her hands into the pockets of her lab coat, walked over, and said right off.
"Huh?"
Koajenna pulled out a chair and casually sat down at the table.
"What do you mean you're free?" Ji Minghuan tilted his head, puzzled, staring at her.
"Literally, from now on, I don't have to come to work at the Salvation Society anymore." Koajenna propped her head on her hand, elbow on the table, and yawned.
"You quit?"
"More like I got fired, just got dismissed by the Mentor."
"Oh, well, congrats. But be careful not to get silenced by them." Ji Minghuan thought for a moment, then said.
"Silenced, so be it. It's better than working in this godforsaken place every day." Koajenna tilted her head, "It's more interesting in the Whale Terrarium, even though the Box Garden People are quite mad, always kneeling in front of me, making me want to bow my head to them too."
"Let's not criticize the Box Garden People now, did the Mentor really let you go? I find it hard to believe."
Ji Minghuan propped his head on his hand and looked up at her.
"The Mentor has already killed off the Salvation Society's top brass, what do you think?" Koajenna said slowly, "It was those top brass who wouldn't let me leave, now they're all dead." She paused, "The Mentor just approached me and told me, from tomorrow onwards, I don't have to come here anymore..."
She fell silent for a moment, lowering her eyes, stretching listlessly and casually adding:
"Actually, I was just like you guys before."
"Like us?" Ji Minghuan asked.
"More than a decade ago, I was also a child raised locked up inside the Salvation Society. Then I grew up and was sent to Whale Terrarium as an undercover."
"I figured..." Ji Minghuan shrugged, "They must have used some methods to keep you from getting rid of Salvation Society, making you willing to work for them, right?"
"They kidnapped my grandmother. While here, I got to see her every six months."
"Now, how is your grandmother?"
"Guess?"
Koajenna said softly, undoing the bun on her head, letting her black hair fall down.
"Did Salvation Society release her?"
"No." Koajenna shook her head.
"Then what's the reason?"
"Just yesterday, my grandmother died of illness." Koajenna said, shrugging, "So, I have no reason to stay here anymore. The Mentor just gave me permission to leave with peace of mind."
"So ironic." Ji Minghuan said carelessly.
He lowered his eyes, tapping his fingers lightly on the tabletop.
"Actually, I quite sympathize with you guys." Koajenna said blandly, "I'm off, but you guys probably can't escape...well, that's not really a secret."
"Indeed, it's not really a secret." Ji Minghuan thought to himself, the Mentor has already started going mad out in the open.
"Anyway, this will be the last time you see me." Koajenna said lazily, "Next, I plan to go home and lie low for a dozen days or half a month, then randomly pick a city with lots of gourmet food to tour. Jealous? Envious?"
"Not envious, it's good you can leave here."
"Why?"
"I'm afraid I'd end up killing you too." Ji Minghuan looked away, "Enjoy your resignation, working girl, but don't ever come back. There's nothing worth reminiscing about here."
"Quite the big talker you are, not in vain you are our Restricted Level kid brother." Koajenna faintly sneered.
She then reached out, touching the top of Ji Minghuan's head, "Goodbye, little brat."
"Goodbye." Ji Minghuan paused, "But could you please not make it sound like I'm already done for, it's really ominous."
