My Avatar is Becoming the Ultimate BOSS-Chapter 832 - 412: The Final Lullaby
August 29th, afternoon, near dusk, on top of a wooden house at Reykjavik Port.
Gu Wenyu and Su Zimai lay on the colorful roof, looking at the distant sea.
The sun was slowly setting below the horizon, the sea reflecting the westward sinking sunset. The sea surface was dyed a vibrant red like the sky, and fishing boats sailed through the bloody color, leaving white streaks of water in their wake.
"The day after tomorrow I'll be going to Hof Glacier," Gu Wenyu suddenly said.
"The day after tomorrow?" Su Zimai turned her head to look at him.
"Yeah, it should be the day after tomorrow for sure. August has thirty-one days, right?" Gu Wenyu thought for a moment, propping his head on his arms, counting on his fingers, "It should be, I didn't check the calendar."
"Oh come on, are you stupid? Such an important day!" Su Zimai was stunned for a moment, then reprimanded, "Dad and older brother are all following your plans, don't lead them astray."
"Got it."
"Please, can you be a bit more reliable? Show a little bit of that butterfly flapping vigor, alright?"
"I'm just an elementary schooler. Not knowing how many days in a month is normal, right? Don't be so demanding of me, okay?" 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
Gu Wenyu said nonchalantly, turning his head to look at the undulating sea, the silhouette of one or two fishing boats floating at the horizon, swaying in the reflection of the setting sun.
"Even elementary schoolers know August has thirty-one days, okay?" Su Zimai continued to criticize.
"Yeah, yeah, you're right," Gu Wenyu said, "Actually I knew how many days there were, I was just messing with you... I just like to tease our Diaper Demon, not convinced?"
"Who dares to not be convinced? Afraid you'll suddenly disappear one day," Su Zimai said softly, inching a little closer to him.
The siblings lay on the wooden rooftop, feeling the wind and watching the seagulls fly under the sunset, a salty sea breeze blowing past, lifting their bangs.
"Big brother, do you have someone you like?" Su Zimai suddenly asked out of the blue.
Gu Wenyu paused, slowly moved his gaze away from the distant sea, and turned his head to look at her, "What are you on about again?"
"From your reaction, you definitely have."
"Why ask that all of a sudden?"
"The other day when I asked you what kind of girl you like, you were absent-minded," Su Zimai said, averting her gaze, "I know you so well, I could tell what you were thinking at a glance."
"You're just guessing... When have you ever guessed right about me?" Gu Wenyu turned his head, looking at her side profile, and asked.
Su Zimai pulled out her phone, smugly saying, "For example, I knew for sure you weren't dead, checking Weibo and Twitter every day, waiting for the day you'd be caught on camera, truth revealed, and Dad and older brother rushing over to spank you."
Saying that, she showed some messy browsing records to Gu Wenyu.
"Since you knew I wasn't dead, why were your eyes so red from crying," Gu Wenyu said.
Su Zimai froze.
"Say another word, and I'll get mad," she glared at him, saying fiercely.
"Okay, okay, I won't say it anymore."
"Will the girl you like come to Iceland too?" Su Zimai thought for a moment, then asked.
"Yeah."
"So you're admitting you like someone?" Su Zimai's tone grew stern.
Gu Wenyu was silent for a while, then nodded, "Maybe..."
"What do you mean maybe?"
"I don't really understand these things. Although the memories from all those units in my mind span centuries, I haven't actually experienced them, like knowing the world through books."
"If you think you like her, then you like her, what's there to think about," Su Zimai rolled her eyes at him, "What's her name?"
"Secret, I'll tell you later."
"Have I met her?"
"Maybe you have, maybe you haven't."
"I'll bite you right away."
"I was wrong."
"In the future... remember to bring her to meet me, okay? Even if I might not have a good impression at first, spending time together, it'll surely get better," Su Zimai muttered, eyes downcast.
"Yes, ma'am, Maimai officer."
"Speaking of, big brother, since you like her, why let her come to Iceland?" Su Zimai rolled her eyes at him.
"Why not?" Gu Wenyu thought for a moment, "I've used Dad and older brother, I can't show favoritism to her, that wouldn't be fair to others I've used, not fair at all."
"Your brain's full of this, using, using, using, even using categorizes fair or not, are you an idiot?"
"What else?" Gu Wenyu said softly, "I know the road ahead is dangerous, but I still let them come, I know what I'm doing, I won't make excuses for my actions."
"Then, then, then... why not use me? I'm the only one you refused to take to the Salvation Society," Su Zimai hesitated, looking away, "Is it because you think your dear little sister is the world's most important, even more than the girl you like?"
Saying that, she sneakily glanced at Gu Wenyu's side profile expectantly.
Gu Wenyu fell silent, then spoke frankly, "Because you're too weak, taking you would just be a burden, alright?"
Su Zimai was stunned.
Gu Wenyu turned to look at her, "You don't think you have some use, right? Even dogs would shake their heads at your combat skills."
Su Zimai's face darkened, exploding angrily, "Get lost!"
"Rare to be so free, can't we just enjoy the breeze? You're always talking too much," Gu Wenyu said, yawning, "I have to deal with so many people every day... talking itself feels tiresome."
