Chapter 1215

Ms. Helena’s new dish

There were two kinds of dishes.

One appeared to be deep-fried and was flat.

It was the thing Claire had reacted to, as it was about the size of someone’s face.

The other dish was a kind of white sausage, and it came with two small plates which contained red and yellow sauces.

It was probably ketchup and mustard.

“This is a Schnitz. I wondered if we could stretch out the meat instead of mincing it. It was then put in bread crumbs and fried in lard. Please try it with this sauce.”

There was a dark, thick sauce next to it.

It looked a little familiar, but I was not sure what it was made of.

“This is gravy sauce. It is made from the juices gathered when cooking meat. We boiled it with other ingredients.”

“Gravy… Ah!”

“Do you know of it, Mr. Takumi?”

“Uh, no… Well, I had heard of it… Um, I have never eaten it before…”

Of course, I’m sure it could be found in Japan if you looked…but I had never tasted it.

This Schnitz was likely a Schnitzel. Which I had also never had before. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

“I-I see!”

Ms. Helena seemed pleased.

“And…what is this…white sausage?”

“Ah, yes! It is a sausage that you boil instead of grilling.”

“Wuff! Wuff!”

Leo was quick to react to it.

After all, it smelled delicious.

“Oh… I did think you were going to test different cooking methods, Helena. But is that really the only difference?”

“There is nothing special about the way we cooked this. However, the difference is in what was used.”

“Oh? And what did you use?”

Sebastian suddenly seemed very interested.

According to Ms. Helena, all of the sausages served up until now used orc meat, which was stuffed into the intestines.

However, they were rather soft, and would often burst when they were cooked.

And so she had the idea of boiling them instead. And she called them weiss sausages.

Apparently, they contained less salt and turned white when boiled,

Less salt meant it could not be preserved for as long.

But clearly the importance now was on taste and appearances.

“The taste might be a little mild by itself…but it is quite nice and different in the sauce.”

“Indeed. I like the idea of having different sauces for variety.”

“It’s delicious!”

“Yes, sister Tilura.”

We tried the sausages first.

As Claire said, it was not very tasty by itself. But it went really well with the sauce.

Tilura and Liza also enjoyed them.

And so the plate was emptied in no time.

As for the sauces, they were very similar to ketchup and mustard, just as I had suspected. However, Ms Helena planned to test other types of sauces as well…
