We received the reward for hunting monsters

“Are you alright, sister Lyra?”

“Lady Liza… I’m sorry. I got a little carried away.”

“Not at all. It makes sense that you dislike them.”

“Yes… It’s just that… Some of the children at the orphanage lost their parents to goblins…”

“I see…”

While there were many different reasons for coming to the orphanage, in this world, getting attacked by monsters was not rare.

Now that I thought about it, I didn’t know how Ms. Lyra and the others ended up in the orphanage.

If possible, I wanted to ask them about it eventually.

It wasn’t that I was curious. But had I not been taken in by my uncle, I would have been sent to an orphanage as well.

And since we were all getting quite close, I suppose I wanted to know more about their situation…

“Grau. Gau-gau!”

“Guff-guff!”

“Don’t eat so quickly. You might end up choking on it.”

After we handed over the monsters, the other guards returned from their shopping.

I petted Leo as she ate her sausages.

“Thank you.”

“No, we should be thanking you. Not only did they bring back orcs for food, but they even hunted down goblins.”

As they had accepted all of the monsters, they gave us a reward.

Apparently, this system existed in all towns.

Of course, hunting monsters was a dangerous business, and the pay was not that good.

So it was usually just soldiers who hunted them.

Still, the reward was more than what I had paid for the food. The goblins were especially good.

Regardless, I had no intention of running on the return trip as well. And so I climbed onto Leo with Liza. Ms. Lyra rode on a fenrir.

Ms. Lyra’s fenrir looked very happy… They seemed to be fond of her. Also, they liked carrying people now.

Fenrirs sure were friendly… But perhaps that was no surprise, since Leo was friendly.

We arrived at the house, and I went in while the fenrirs scattered at an alarming speed

The servants greeted me as usual, and then I headed to my room.

“Welcome back, Mr. Takumi. I’m sorry that I could not go out to greet you.”

“No, it’s not a problem at all.”

On my way to my room, I met Alfred in the hallway.

As I had not sent a message in advance, he had no way to know what time we would be back.

Besides, this was a busy time for all of the servants, so it could not be helped.

“How are the fenrirs doing?”

“Feri and the others seemed a little disgruntled that you had taken some of the fenrirs and not them. However, they cheered up a little when we took them out for a run around the house. Just as you instructed.”

“A little…huh.”

“Wuff-wuff.”

“It seemed like they were wondering about you.”

“Me? Not Leo?”

“Yes. I and some of the others rode on the fenrirs, but… It always seemed like they were looking for something. And when Lady Tilura asked, they said they were looking for Mr. Takumi.”

Tilura must have talked to them with her Gift… As long as she used it in moderation, it could be quite useful.

Still, why me instead of Leo? If they just wanted someone to carry, the servants would be enough…
