There was a small problem with the stamina recovery medicine
“About that…there is…a little side-effect.”
“Side-effect? But none of the herbs have any side-effects… Is it something that only appears when you combine them?”
In fact, none of the herbs I made had any side-effects at all. They were not addictive either. Also, I had not heard anything about them becoming less potent with regular use.
I knew they were safe, but there was no guarantee what would happen if you took too large of a dose at once… And so it was important to take the right amount.
“Ah, that… Yes, it might be a little problem…”
Ms. Lyra agreed.
As she had taken the medicine as well, she must have also felt the side-effects.
“It is not so bad, compared to the fatigue you feel before… However, you do become a little sleepy.”
That sounded like cold medicine.
Could it be…
“Perhaps it’s the effects of the peaceful sleep herb.”
“I believe that it is. The herbs for fatigue, muscle recovery and good sleep. They are combined in order to make the stamina recovery drink…”
“I see.”
By adding the herb for good sleep, they were able to make the two other herbs work together, when they usually did not.
It was like using a surfactant to mix oil and water together.
“I have used the sleeping herbs before, and the medicine is not as strong as that. It is quite…mild. It would not be hard to fight it off.”
“Well, the herbs just help you sleep better. They don’t actually make you very sleepy… I see.”
“But combining other herbs did not work at all… It had to be the sleep ones…”
“Hmm… Well, maybe that’s fine then?”
“Huh?”
It did not seem too bad as far as side-effects go.
If anything, if you are tired, then perhaps getting some sleep would be a good thing. And you could wake up feeling much better.
“I suppose it’s a matter of perspective. It could be a good thing…”
And so I told Milina and Ms. Lyra what I was thinking.
They both listened with great interest.
“Now that you mention it… Most people sleep when they are tired. And if it is a stamina recovery herb, then you may be right, master.”
“Of course, it would probably sell better if it was something you could drink for more energy, instead of something that makes you feel better when you wake up…”
Keith would probably get mad if he knew how much I didn’t care about profits.
Regardless, the main purpose was to distract people from finding out about Weed Cultivation. So this should be fine as a new product. It did not need to be popular.
“And the last one…I see it’s also a salve.”
“Yes. This is for injuries and is made of Loe. You apply it when you are injured and it should heal… But the effect is deliberately not that strong.”
The problem with Loe was that it was very expensive. Obviously, if I sold a lot of it, people would become suspicious, and it would cause chaos in the market.
Of course, the price was justified, because it was so effective.
And so this medicine could not be quite as effective as Loe, or it would become too valuable.
“The guards helped me with this one. Of course, none of them were badly wounded, but they do get some small injuries during their daily training.”
I had never seen them training, but considering that they protected people as soldiers, it was probably quite severe.
Phillip had even cried as he remembered his training under Mr. Ekenhart.
Regardless, they had likely been quite happy to have some medicine made of Loe.
