Chapter 21: New body.

"Summon it," Rashin commanded the system.

The sun beaming down on him as the water from the river continued to flow. The trees themselves obeyed nature as they too began to dance.

[Request has been confirmed.]

[Initializing the soul barrier.]

[Configured!]

[Soul evolution is complete... Your first Soul weapon is now ready.]

Obeying the system's words, a bright golden light shone in front of Rashin, sparkling with thousands of magical particles. It was the birth of a new form.

Standing before Rashin was a girl, barely reaching his waist. Her brown hair framed her delicate face, and she was dressed in the same armor Rashin wore. The skin-tight material clung to her body, almost as if it were part of her very being.

[Would you like to offer your Balsamic armor a name?]

The question struck Rashin as odd at first. Where had she come from? Why had she suddenly appeared before him, and why was she wearing the exact same armor he had on?

His questions were answered the moment he made eye contact with the girl.

"She's my armor," he muttered aloud, his eyes filled with a mix of shock and amazement.

The girl remained still, not uttering a single word or even moving a muscle. If she could be described in one word, it would be "doll."

'So this is what happens when I upgrade weapons using a soul stone? They gain a human form? Just when I think I've seen it all, the system proves me wrong again.'

Rashin sighed, glancing back at the girl.

'A name, huh...'

He thought for a moment before deciding. "Alright. You shall be called Daki. Does that work?"

[Notice: The Balsamic armor has been registered as Daki.]

[You no longer need to wear the armor, as its qualities are now embedded within you thanks to Daki's arrival.]

'Well, that's convenient.' Rashin closed his eyes, focusing his thoughts to dematerialize his armor—which he successfully did.

Once finished, he turned his attention back to the girl. Moving closer, he bent down to her height to look her in the eyes.

"Hey there, can you hear me?" he asked, attempting to start a conversation.

But just as before, Daki did not respond.

Feeling slightly confused, Rashin reached out and gently poked her cheek.

'Her skin feels real, and she doesn't seem lifeless either. Which means...' His face turned serious. 'Is she ignoring me?'

He sighed. Not that he knew much about dealing with women.

Back in his old life, the only girl he could freely talk to was his elder sister, and even then, she often mocked him for how blunt he was.

"What the hell am I supposed to do here?"

[The Bronze Soul Balsamic Armor lacks the ability to communicate with you. It can only follow your orders and act as a shield.]

'What? So I'm just looking at a... statue?'

[Negative. The soul will evolve over time or can be upgraded using Soul Stones. The higher its rank, the more abilities and qualities it will gain.]

'What rank does it need to be before it can communicate?'

[Gold Soul Rank—two tiers above its current state: Bronze and Silver.]

"I see." Rashin patted his summon on the head. "Well then, Daki, I can't wait to upgrade you to Gold so you can have feelings of your own."

From between the bushes, Eri suddenly appeared, her body covered in a cloak splattered with different colors of paint.

"Eri..." Rashin spotted her immediately, though his excitement faded just as quickly.

"Ahhh~ finally, I'm back." Eri fell to her knees, panting heavily as she let out a relieved sigh. "I thought I'd never be done."

"Where were you?" Rashin moved closer, his expression serious.

"Eh? What do you mean, where was I? I told you I was going to fix the whole 'Fallen One' rumor, didn't I?" Eri nagged while pulling off her cloak.

"I guess you did."

"Good, so you remembered."

Now standing in front of Rashin, she held out a poster for him to see.

"I figured you needed space to practice your powers, so I used the opportunity to spread posters about the existence of Fallen Ones walking among us."

Written on the poster was a message:

WATCH OUT! The Fallen Ones have managed to slip past the barriers and can now survive in our world, taking human form. Be careful and stay vigilant!

Eri had written the warning for the people.

"Ohhh!" Rashin applauded.

"Heheh, cool, right? I knew you'd like it, considering your hatred for the Hakiaas and all. Oh, and guess what? That's not all I did." Eri placed her hands on her hips. "I also hung one of the Fallen Ones in the central city for everyone to see. I'm sure by now, people are confused and afraid. They'll have no choice but to believe."

"Ah, so that explains why..."

"Why what?"

Rashin's eyes focused on the distance behind Eri.

In a low tone, he said, "Do you remember telling me to remain calm and not act on impulse when I see a Fallen One?"

Eri tilted her head. "I remember saying something like that. Why? What does that have to do with anything?"

"You don't feel it?"

"Feel what?"

"I can't say I know exactly how, but one thing is certain..."

A blue light radiated from Rashin's body—the perfect aura of a king.

In one hand, he gripped his short dagger. With the other, he grabbed Eri's hand and pulled her behind him.

"Whatever you did in the main city drew some unwanted attention. And they seem to have tailed you all the way here."

Eri hadn't realized it until Rashin pointed it out.

Hiding in the forest were several figures, their eyes glowing brightly despite it being the moonlight.

The eerie luminescence obscured the rest of their bodies, but their presence was undeniable.

Their aura was unmistakable.

"Fallen Ones..." Eri whispered, shock written all over her face.
