Chapter 13: Amazing... really amazing

Mana.

It flooded through his body in an overwhelming wave, like a dam that had been holding back water for far too long had suddenly collapsed.

He gasped sharply.

His hands instinctively rose in front of him as the sensation intensified, mana surging through every inch of his body.

He stared at his fingers in disbelief, his hands trembling slightly.

He could feel it, the difference within him compared to before.

His body felt... lighter.

As though some invisible weight had been lifted off his shoulders.

His breathing became easier.

Even the faint aches from earlier seemed to fade into the background.

He clenched his hand slowly into a fist.

The motion felt smoother, and more controlled.

There was strength there.

Not an overwhelming power, but undeniably greater than what he had before.

His heart pounded harder.

It felt natural.

As if this was how it was always meant to be.

Noah’s lips trembled faintly.

He lowered his hands slightly, still staring at them as though afraid the sensation might disappear if he blinked.

He had imagined this moment countless times.

Lying awake at night.

Standing alone at training grounds long after others had left.

Pushing his mana through his veins over and over, hoping something would change.

But nothing ever did.

Until now.

A faint sting pricked at his eyes.

He blinked, and soon realized tears had formed even without him noticing.

They blurred his vision slightly as his chest tightened.

"I..." His voice came out barely above a whisper. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

"I... broke through..."

The words sounded fragile, almost unreal.

Breaking past the low Apprentice Magus rank...

It was something he had been trying to accomplish for years.

While others had advanced steadily, he remained stuck there no matter how hard he trained or tried.

But now—

Just by leveling up...

He had broken through to the mid apprentice magus rank!

His body still tingled faintly as the new mana settled into place, stable and steady.

A part of him felt like he had indeed died and all these was just a dream, but the feeling of mana coursing smoothly through his veins said otherwise.

His shoulders trembled faintly.

Words alone couldn’t justify how overjoyed he felt in this moment.

For the first time, he had taken a step forward.

He wiped at his eyes quickly with the back of his hand, though the faint smile remained on his lips.

This was only the beginning.

Noah slowly inhaled, trying to steady the excitement still rushing through him.

He focused his thoughts again.

’System,’ he called quietly in his mind.

[Supreme Magus System$&@?!]

[Host: Noah Whiteheart]

[Level: 1]

[EXP: 0/100$&@?]

[Rank: Apprentice Magus (mid)]

[Elements: Ice, Lightning]

[Strength: 3]

[Agility: 4]

[Stamina: 4]

[Endurance: 2]

[Sense: 2]

[Supreme Points: 0]

His EXP had reset to zero out of a hundred. That meant once he filled it again, he would level up again.

His gaze shifted downward.

Rank: Apprentice Magus (mid)

The word "mid" caught his attention immediately. He stared at it for several seconds, making sure it wasn’t some mistake or illusion caused by excitement.

He focused next on his stats.

He remembered clearly what they had been before. Every single one of them had increased by a point.

The increase didn’t seem much at all, but since his original stats were so weak in the first place, even a point increase was enough to make him feel the difference.

He flexed his fingers slowly, then clenched his fist.

His mana had increased as well, in fact by quite a lot.

Now, even while sitting still, he could feel a deeper well of energy inside him. The mana circulating through his veins felt denser, more stable, and less reluctant to move.

A slow smile formed on his face.

’That means... with each level, I’ll break through a sub-rank.’ he thought.

If reaching level one had pushed him from low to mid, then reaching level two would likely push him from mid to high.

That realization alone made his chest tighten with excitement.

Breaking through normally was never this simple.

Advancing even one sub-rank required long periods of focused training. Some people needed months to move from low to mid. Others took years, especially if their talent was limited.

Many remained stuck at the same stage indefinitely, no matter how hard they tried.

He had experienced that frustration personally.

Yet now, all he had to do was level up.

The simplicity of it almost made him laugh.

His smile widened gradually as he looked at the interface again.

This was huge.

He shifted his focus to the skills tab below.

[Skills and Abilities $&@?]

[Icicle (level 1)]

[Lightning Ball (level 1)]

Both skills were still at level one, but he was sure they would get stronger as they levelled up.

Besides, they were both skills he could have only dreamed of getting before now, so he was still glad to have them.

There was also the quests, which he could still continue completing without limit.

[Quests]

[Daily Quests: Jog for 5 minutes (2/5)]

[Reward: 20EXP]

[Penalty for failure: None$&@?]

[Channel your mana through your mana veins.]

[Reward: 20EXP]

[Penalty for failure: None$&@?]

[Read 10 books (0/10)]

[Weekly Quests: Hunt 5 mana beasts (0/5)]

[Penalty for failure: None$&@?]

Two out of the five minutes on the jogging quest had also been completed, the remnants from the minutes he jogged from Emily’s place to here.

Nonetheless, he could still complete the remaining three minutes, gaining another twenty EXP and repeating it over and over again.

His smirk grew slightly as the implications became clearer.

However, he felt like he should rest for now, or else he would tire himself too much jogging over and over again.

’Amazing... really amazing...’ he mumbled inwardly.

The gap between him and those who once seemed untouchable no longer felt infinite. It was still large, but now he was sure that he would close that gap before long.
