Chapter 42: Weekly quest completed!

A long ice spear quickly formed beside him, materializing with a soft shimmer as frost spiraled along its surface.

It tapered into a sharp tip that gleamed like frozen glass.

Noah’s hand extended forward, his movements calm and deliberate, and he launched the spear toward the first wolf.

The spear streaked through the air with terrifying speed, aimed carefully at the creature’s side.

The moment it struck, the spear stabbed into the wolf’s flank, boring a deep hole as it seared through flesh and muscle.

The creature let out a strangled roar, its body twisting in reaction to the piercing cold that tore through it.

Immediately, the ice spread from the wound, creeping outward with unnerving speed.

Frost climbed along the wolf’s limbs, across its chest and spine, covering its torso in a rigid layer of crystalline cold.

Within moments, the wolf collapsed to the ground, and life drained from its eyes.

Noah watched carefully, confirming the kill before turning his attention to the remaining wolves.

Sensing that another of their pack had fallen, the remaining four wolves erupted in a furious charge toward him.

Their teeth bared, claws digging into the dirt, they attempted to overwhelm him with sheer aggression.

But blinded by the thin ice shards still lingering from his earlier icicle attack, they collided into one another with disoriented growls.

One wolf struck another with a harsh clang, tumbling to the ground, while the others struggled to regain their balance.

Noah’s lips curled into a small, almost amused chuckle.

The sight of their chaos, their confusion and fury combined, pleased him.

Without hesitation, he conjured another glacial spear, frost spiraling around it as it formed beside him.

Its tip gleamed sharply, and he prepared to strike another of the disoriented wolves with the same precision as before.

Just as he raised his hand to launch, he felt a sudden spike in his senses.

His eyes widened slightly as he detected the movement, his instincts kicking in instantly.

One of the wolves suddenly broke through the chaos, leaping forward with a growl that shook the air around him.

One of its eye was slightly opened, and it was locked directly on him.

Noah’s hand paused mid-motion, every muscle tensing as he sensed the danger.

The wolf opened its mouth, and Noah sensed a powerful pulse of mana rapidly gathering within its mouth.

Noah’s eyes widened, and the cool expression on his face changed into a frown, realising what the mana beast wanted to do.

’An elemental attack!’ he thought.

Without a second thought, he pivoted and moved away from the spot where he had been standing moments ago, his boots barely making a sound on the damp forest floor.

The moment he left that position, a strong blast of wind shot from the wolf’s mouth.

It slammed into the ground he was standing merely seconds ago, scattering dirt, leaves, and small stones in all directions.

The force of the blast was enough to leave a shallow crater, and Noah felt the residual pressure against his back even from a few meters away.

Fortunately, he had carried the glacial spear with him, gripping it tightly in his hand.

Its tip remained pristine, ice shimmering faintly along its length, untouched by the wind blast.

Seizing the opening, Noah quickly acted.

While the wolf was still reeling from the recoil of its own elemental attack, he hurled the glacial spear forward.

The weapon sliced through the air at rapid speed, stabbing directly into the wolf’s open mouth.

The wolf whimpered in agony, its head jerking violently as the cold began to take hold.

Ice quickly spread from the point of impact, creeping along its jaw, skull, and eventually covering its entire head in a rigid frost.

Within moments, the wolf dropped lifeless to the ground, its body stiff and unresponsive.

A notification immediately appeared in front of him:

[Glacial Spear level up!]

[Glacial Spear now level 2!]

Noah ignored the glowing text for the moment, his attention already drawn to the remaining two wolves.

Lightning crackled around his hands as he summoned two arrows simultaneously, sharp and brilliant in their electric hue.

He released them in rapid succession, and the arrows shot straight for the two wolves, piercing directly through their heads.

Upon impact, the lightning erupted in a violent explosion, surging through their bodies with amplified intensity.

The blast was stronger than before, the skill’s recent level up clearly enhancing the destructive power.

The two wolves collapsed immediately, their bodies convulsing as sparks of residual electricity danced across their fur.

Muscles twitched uncontrollably, and weak growls escaped their throats, but within seconds the movement ceased, leaving them sprawled and lifeless on the forest floor.

Noah exhaled, finally deactivating Electric Overcharge. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

The lightning coursing through his body immediately vanished, and steam slowly rose up from his skin.

The steam rising from his skin was an after effect of the skill, since he used it for so long.

If he had kept it active for even longer, his body could have been electrocuted and all his internal organs fried to a crisp under the violent lightning.

’Electric overcharge is so powerful, but that drawback is just too dangerous...’ he thought, feeling a chill run down his spine.

He didn’t even want to imagine how it would feel to use Electric Overcharge for too long and have his body fried under his own lightning.

It would certainly be a tragedy.

However, he still had to find a way to make the skill safe for him to use for as long as he wanted, without the risk of roasting his brains or dying.

"Hah..." he exhaled again, taking another glance at all the wolves’ corpses around him.

[Weekly Quest: Hunt 5 mana beasts (5/5)]

[Status: Completed]

[Reward Granted: 50EXP, 5 supreme points]

When he saw the notification floating before him, he smirked.

He had actually completed the quest even before he killed all the wolf pack

The wolf who was launched an elemental attack turned out to be his fifth kill, but he had ignored the notification, focusing on ending the other two wolves as fast as he could.
