Chapter 183: Chapter 183

Julian’s POV

The next day, the three of us boarded a flight to Melbourne.

We were having a great time, enjoying ourselves until late in the evening when we finally found a restaurant to eat at.

Just as we were sitting down, I got a message from my agent.

“Julian, your travel plans are canceled. Summer of Us starts filming in two days. You need to come back ASAP.”

Reading the message, confusion hit me like a brick wall.

I rubbed my eyes to make sure I hadn’t misread it, then replied, “Jake, you’ve got to be kidding. Wasn’t Summer of Us supposed to start filming after the New Year?”

“I just got the notice. The schedule’s been moved up.”

I couldn’t process it. “Why the sudden change?”

“I don’t really know. I didn’t hear anything about it until now. You need to be back tomorrow. I’ve had my assistant book your flight. If you miss the press conference at the start of filming, the media will start spreading rumors again.”

Just thinking about going back tomorrow made my stomach churn. I weakly asked, “Can I take a leave?”

“You tell me?”

Other supporting actors might have been able to get a few extra days, but I was the male lead, and the official announcement had already been made. The company had everything planned down to the minute, knowing I had no other commitments.

Frustration bubbled inside me, my face twisting in agony.

This trip hadn’t even really started, and now it was already over!

Vivienne glanced at me, unable to swallow her food. “Julian, what’s wrong? Why the long face? Something happened?”

I let out a long, drawn-out sigh and slumped back in my chair, feeling drained. My hands didn’t know where to go, and all I could think about was finding whoever had decided to push up the filming schedule and giving them a piece of my mind.

“What happened?” Sophie asked, her brow furrowing with concern.

I took a deep breath, my face a mask of defeat. “I have to go back tomorrow.”

“What’s going on? I thought you didn’t have any work right now?” Sophie asked, continuing to eat.

“They said the new movie was supposed to start filming after the New Year, but for some reason, they’ve moved it up.” I ground my teeth, trying to control my anger, but there was nothing I could do about it.

I’d worked extra hours to finish my other projects early, just for the schedule to change like this.

Vivienne didn’t know what to say. “How did that happen? I’ve only heard of delays, not earlier starts.”

“I’m not sure. I think it’s something the investors pushed for.”

“Well, there’s nothing we can do about it. You should just go back and get to work. We’ll catch up when we have the time,” Vivienne said.

Her words only made me feel worse.

“Come on, let’s raise a glass to you. Safe travels.” Sophie poured us both a drink.

I was seething, but I raised my glass anyway, downing it in one shot. “If I ever find out who decided to move up the shoot, they won’t get away with it!”

“Alright, stop ranting. Let’s just eat. You’ve got a flight to catch tomorrow. You’ll probably get another chance to come back here for work.”

“That’s not the same.” I grabbed my head in anguish, still unable to accept it.

My long-planned trip, ruined.

My big opportunity... all gone.

I had planned to confess my feelings to Vivienne once the trip was over, but now...

I had to keep telling myself to be patient and wait a little longer.

Vivienne hadn’t fully moved on from her last relationship yet, and a confession might not work out anyway.

The next day, Vivienne and Sophie saw me off at the airport.

Vivienne’s POV

The airport terminal was bustling with people coming and going.

Not far off, beneath the large flight schedule screen, a crowd had gathered, some even holding signs as if they were waiting to greet someone.

I stopped in my tracks. “How about I just drop you off here? The check-in counter’s right over there, so I’ll stay behind and won’t go with you.”

Julian glanced at his watch, then reluctantly said, “Alright, you two head back. Don’t let this delay your trip. We’ll catch up when you’re back.”

I was about to respond when suddenly, a loud shout rang out behind me. “Julian is over there!”

Before the words had even finished echoing, a surge of footsteps rushed toward us.

I turned just in time to see a wave of people pushing forward, like a tide of ants. I had no time to react, and before I knew it, I was swept into the crowd, feeling as though I was being crushed.

People pushed past me from all sides, and the pressure was disorienting. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

The crowd grew more frantic, and suddenly, I was slammed into with such force that I was knocked to the ground. My startled cry was drowned out by the noise around me, and immediately, someone stepped right on my legs.

Countless legs rushed past, some tripping over me, others kicking me as they went by.

My cries were lost in the chaos, and no one seemed to care.

Just as I was trying to get up, someone stepped directly on my back.

A high heel whizzed by my ear, barely missing my head.

I curled my arms around my head to protect myself and waited for the crowd to pass.

The air felt thin at the bottom, and I struggled to breathe, my head spinning.

Just as I thought I might collapse, someone kicked me hard in the head. The person stumbled, swearing, “What’s wrong with this person, lying on the ground like that?”

The pain was intense, and my vision blurred with stars.

Just when I thought I might lose consciousness, I suddenly felt myself being lifted into a warm, broad embrace.

I was swept off my feet, and the next thing I knew, I was being carried through the crowd.

In that moment, I couldn’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of relief—I was still alive.

The familiar scent filled my nose, and for a moment, I thought it was just my imagination.

A commanding voice cut through the noise. “Someone’s hurt! Make way!”

That voice... it sounded so familiar.

I looked up, and there, illuminated by the sunlight, was Alexander’s sharp, cold face.

Half of his face was bathed in light, looking almost godlike as he pulled me from the mess, the light framing him as he rescued me from the chaos.

For a moment, a strange, unexplainable emotion stirred inside me.

I murmured in disbelief, “Alexander?? Is that you??”

Alexander glanced at me indifferently, his eyes dark with irritation. “What’s the matter? Disappointed to see me?”

“What are you doing here? Were you following me?”

The thought hit me, and my face darkened again.

I’d been fooled by Alexander again!

That damn liar!

“If I wasn’t here, you’d still be lying in that mess! You might even be dead by now, and no one would even know,” Alexander said, his voice laced with conviction. “Want me to put you back there?”

He made a show of turning toward the crowd.

“Don’t!” I clutched at his neck in a panic.

The smile tugging at the corner of Alexander’s lips told me everything—I had fallen for it. There was no way he’d actually put me back.

Annoyed, I punched his chest.

Alexander grunted, “I save you, and this is how you repay your rescuer?”

I tilted my head slightly, muttering, “Thanks.”

Though I wasn’t exactly thrilled about it, I knew I had to thank him. If it weren’t for him, I might not even be alive right now.

I glanced back toward the crowd. “What’s going on? Is Julian’s fan club here to greet him? This is insane.”

Alexander’s face darkened. “Still worried about him? Take care of yourself first. If it weren’t for him bringing all these people here, would any of this have happened?”

“Oh, and what about Sophie?”

“She’s a big girl, she’ll be fine. I’m taking you to the hospital first.”
