My Co-renting Lady Boss-Chapter 1643 - 1642: The Employer Is Dead?
"Don’t worry, people die for wealth like birds die for food. Facing so much money, any assassin would be tempted, though few can confidently kill Tang Ming. We’ll just wait."
Sun Peng sneered dismissively.
"I bet these assassins are thinking of taking out Tang Ming first before claiming the bounty."
Sha Liang said with a sly smile, "Anyway, Tang Ming is doomed this time."
"Cheers, we just wait for the news."
Sun Peng raised his glass, and soon everyone was drinking fervently, unaware that the one billion US dollars would become their death sentence.
"You guys go ahead and have fun, I’m heading back to my place."
After a drink, Huang De put away his phone and prepared to head home.
"Why leave so early? Stay and enjoy with us."
Sun Peng quickly stopped Huang De.
"After all, I’m a member of the Red Cherry Blossom Association. Today Du Kai plans to recruit Tang Ming into the Association. I need to go back and see how it goes."
Huang De smiled and grabbed his coat, heading out: "Our bounty was posted before Tang Ming joined, so even if he does, there won’t be a problem. But I need to go back and discuss."
"Alright, you’re a Red Cherry Blossom Association elite, unlike us freelancers."
Sun Peng sneered and said no more, though joining the Association has its perks, it also comes with restrictions.
Tang Ming and his friends spent over a hundred thousand on a meal, and when Du Kai got the notification, he almost choked.
Du Kai may not be short on money, but for Tang Ming to spend over a hundred thousand on a meal alone felt exceedingly unfair.
After eating and drinking his fill, Tang Ming returned to his dorm to sleep, completely unaware of the bounty placed on him. If he knew... he’d laugh himself awake.
All four in Tang Ming’s dorm had drunk quite a bit, slept until noon, missing their morning classes, only to be rudely awakened by frantic pounding on the door.
"Tang Ming, you’re the boss, you answer it."
Shao Wuyou called out weakly with his pillow in tow.
"Who is it, knocking so early in the morning?"
Tang Ming groggily got up, glanced at the window: "Wow, what a big moon."
"Hurry up and open the door, it’s driving me crazy."
Meng Xianjun impatiently urged.
"Hey!"
Tang Ming sighed and opened the door, only to see a visibly anxious Du Kai standing there: "Why you? All I did was eat a meal with you, does that make you this tense?"
"Is this about a meal? You’re too much."
Du Kai glared at Tang Ming with a dark expression.
"Ahem, I have a big appetite. Besides, you’re wealthy, ten-odd thousand is nothing to you, right?"
Tang Ming awkwardly laughed, feeling a bit guilty for costing him so much.
"I’m not here about the meal."
Du Kai watched Tang Ming grimly: "Sun Peng, Sha Liang, and two others are dead."
"Huh? How did they die?"
Tang Ming was slightly taken aback and looked at Du Kai bewildered.
"Really, it has nothing to do with you?"
Du Kai scrutinized Tang Ming suspiciously.
"Of course not! After you left yesterday, I ate with friends and then went to sleep. How could it have anything to do with me?"
Tang Ming yawned, clueless about the situation.
"How is this possible."
Du Kai seemed lost, glaring at Tang Ming: "They posted a bounty to kill you yesterday, and this morning all were killed. You’re telling me it’s unrelated to you?"
"A bounty for me?"
Tang Ming finally regained clarity, frowning: "How much did they offer to kill me?"
"One billion US dollars, posted on an assassin website abroad."
Du Kai hesitated a bit but revealed the information.
"Oh wow, didn’t think my head was worth that much."
Tang Ming laughed, "Which website did they post to kill me?"
"Just an assassin website abroad."
Du Kai handed his phone over to Tang Ming.
"Heh, they’re asking for death themselves."
Tang Ming glanced at the phone and chuckled: "Posting on this site to kill me, their minds must be flooded."
"What’s that supposed to mean?"
Du Kai looked at Tang Ming puzzled.
"Nothing much, just saying they posted to kill me, and now they’re dead, saves me from doing it myself."
Tang Ming scoffed, not wanting to explain to Du Kai.
"What exactly happened? You’re really not the one behind their deaths?"
Du Kai frowned, confused by Tang Ming’s words.
"Whether it was me or not doesn’t matter, there’s no evidence anyway."
Tang Ming shrugged indifferently: "If you’ve got nothing else, I’m going back to sleep, I’m exhausted."
"Wait, wait a moment."
Du Kai quickly stopped Tang Ming, "Actually, I’m here to act as an intermediary."
"For what intermediary?"
Tang Ming asked irritably, looking at Du Kai.
"Though Sun Peng and his buddies are dead, Huang De is still alive. I heard Huang De is scared out of his wits and wishes to reconcile with you. Can you do me a favor?"
Du Kai looked at Tang Ming with embarrassment, Huang De pleaded tearfully and he couldn’t just refuse.
"There’s one survivor, seems their efficiency is lacking, huh?"
Tang Ming sneered in a strange tone.
"Come on, we’re all in this game, no need to be ruthless. Give him a break."
Du Kai pleaded earnestly with Tang Ming.
"Hey, they were the ones posting bounties to kill me, right? The ones being ruthless should be them."
Tang Ming dug his ears, dissatisfied looking at Du Kai: "Besides, I truly wasn’t behind it. I was drinking last night, oblivious to being targeted."
"I believe what you say, but it must have some connection to you, so please show mercy."
Du Kai looked at Tang Ming very sincerely.
"Sigh! Fine, because of you, I’ll go talk to him."
Tang Ming sighed unwillingly, then looked seriously at Du Kai: "But since he put up a billion-dollar bounty on me, although I can spare his life, he must pay the rightful price."
"Okay, as long as there’s room to negotiate, I’ll make sure he meets any demand you have."
Du Kai nodded solemnly.
"Give me a moment, I need to freshen up."
Tang Ming yawned and returned to his dorm.
After hesitating, Du Kai followed him into the dorm.
"Guys, wake up! The idiot we scammed last time is back to give us money. Wake up, let’s go get it, everyone gets a share."
Tang Ming hollered loudly.
"Money, did we earn money?"
Hua Yingjie was the first to sit up.
"We must get up, money is good stuff."
Shao Wuyou and Meng Xianjun quickly got up as well, skipping class is one thing, but not earning money is a fool’s game.
