My College Teacher is My Children's Mom-Chapter 696: No One Knows a Daughter Better Than Her Father!
Little Treasure happily scampered upstairs with his red envelope.
Qin Jiang’s visit this time wasn’t just to bring a gift for Little Treasure; he had gifts for the others as well.
For Lin Feng, it was a bottle of health-preserving liquor, and for Zhang Yuxi, a very beautiful scarf. Big Treasure received a fountain pen, while Fourth Treasure got a collectible autograph from a famous soccer star. Third Treasure received a knitted sweater made from excellent material—a very practical and thoughtful gift. That sweater alone, made entirely of exquisitely handcrafted wool, was a testament to his care.
Qin Jiang smiled and said, "I wasn’t sure what you all would like, so my family and I picked these out together.
"My parents also said they’d like to come visit when they have time."
Second Treasure pursed her lips and glared at Qin Jiang. "You, get over here!"
Qin Jiang nodded. "I’ll be right over."
As soon as the two of them left, everyone else exchanged bewildered glances.
Lin Feng and Zhang Yuxi were getting a headache. "Does anyone know what’s going on with them?"
It was terrifying; for someone to suddenly show up one day claiming to be your daughter’s boyfriend.
Big Treasure indicated that he knew nothing about the situation.
Fourth Treasure immediately ratted out Third Treasure. "Third Sis must know! They’re both girls; they talk about everything."
Third Treasure was speechless. "..."
Lin Feng waved his hand dismissively. "All of you, shoo. Third Treasure, come over here and tell us what’s going on."
When Third Treasure and Second Treasure returned, they had already coordinated their stories.
The version Lin Feng and Zhang Yuxi heard was this: Second Treasure found him handsome, and he seemed interested too, so they exchanged contact information. They kept in touch on and off for several months and had even become intimate... But they hadn’t reached the point of making their relationship official. As for how he ended up here, they claimed to be just as baffled as everyone else.
Lin Feng then asked, "Did Second Treasure lead him on and then ghost him, and now he’s come to our house demanding an explanation?"
Third Treasure was shocked. "!!!!"
So a father really does know his daughter best. In fact, Second Treasure had indeed considered doing just that.
Their relationship was maddeningly ambiguous. It was always difficult to meet with Qin Jiang. To call them friends wasn’t right, but to call them lovers didn’t quite fit either, despite their intimacy. It was an undefined and ambiguous relationship.
One thing was for certain: Qin Jiang liked Second Treasure, was satisfied with her, and was aiming for marriage.
But Second Treasure didn’t want that!
Putting aside the nature of their work, Qin Jiang’s rigid and dull personality was simply not her cup of tea.
Seeing Third Treasure’s expression, Lin Feng knew his guess was correct. He sighed. "Forget it. Let her handle it herself." Matters of the heart couldn’t be forced. The children were all grown up now and should make their own decisions.
「On the other side.」
Second Treasure was furious. "You really know how to win people over, don’t you?"
Qin Jiang, however, asked nonchalantly, "Do you think they can be won over by a single gift?"
Second Treasure huffed. "What’s your deal, anyway? Showing up at my house during the New Year without so much as a word."
Standing beside her, Qin Jiang exuded the powerful aura of a soldier. Even in silence, his formidable spirit was palpable.
"I came to officially inform you that I want to date you, with marriage as the goal!"
Second Treasure scoffed. "That’s your business. What does it have to do with me?"
Qin Jiang turned to look at her and thought for a moment. "Then what do I have to do to make you date me?"
"We’re not compatible," Second Treasure said simply. "You’re not my type."
Qin Jiang chuckled in exasperation. "That’s not what you said when you first came on to me. You said you liked my manly charm, you liked how I..."
Second Treasure’s eyes widened, in disbelief that this man would say such things. It seemed so out of character.
Qin Jiang laughed. "You see? You don’t know me at all. So how can you assume I’m not your type?"
Alright, that comeback left her speechless. After all, she prided herself on being a reasonable person.
"Then what is it you like about me?"
Qin Jiang answered seriously, "You’re beautiful, smart, independent, have a mind of your own, a great figure... My line of work is unstable. You’re the most suitable person for me."
Second Treasure was not pleased, her smile never reaching her eyes. "Oh? You’ve said so much, but I haven’t heard you say you actually *like* me. You’re just looking for a suitable wife. The marriage I want has to be built on a foundation of mutual feelings, not just two compatible people deciding to get by together."
Qin Jiang glanced at her. "I do like you. Why would I be here if I didn’t? Plenty of women want to marry me, but you’re the only one I like."
Second Treasure was happy on the inside, but she put on a shy expression and said, "Who asked you to like me?"
Sometimes, Qin Jiang really had no idea what women were thinking. They were too enigmatic.
He changed the subject. "Your parents look really young." If he told people he and his future father-in-law were brothers, they’d probably believe him.
Second Treasure nodded. "Of course! By the way, did my parents ask you how we met?"
Qin Jiang teased her, "Scared to own up to what you did, are you?"
Her eyes widened. "Quick, tell me what you said!"
Qin Jiang could see that Second Treasure was still afraid of her parents. Looks like I’ll have to work hard on charming my future in-laws.
"I didn’t say anything. I told them to ask you."
Second Treasure breathed a sigh of relief.
Qin Jiang circled the topic back around. "So, what are your thoughts? I want to be in a relationship with you, one that leads to marriage. I want to be with you. I’m not joking; I’m very serious."
Second Treasure felt conflicted. She really hadn’t planned on getting into a serious, marriage-minded relationship so soon.
Qin Jiang waited for her reply, noticing her hesitation.
"Then tell me, what kind of man do you like?"
Second Treasure thought for a moment. "Good-looking, with a decent family background, someone who understands me, cherishes me, and has a certain level of capability and strength in his career."
These were the most basic conditions, and Qin Jiang felt he met them all. The only downside to his job was that a single mission could last for several months, so he couldn’t date someone who was too emotionally needy.
"Let’s give it a try," he said. "It’s not like you’re busy with anything else."
It was this sentence that successfully persuaded Second Treasure.
He’s right. I’m just idling around anyway, so why not try dating? If we’re compatible, we’ll continue. If not, we’ll break up. How will I know if we’re not a match if I don’t even try?
When the two returned, the atmosphere between them was different. The previous hostility was gone.
Qin Jiang cooked dinner with Lin Feng assisting.
This scene feels so familiar.
The only difference was that compared to Shao Yang, Qin Jiang actually had skills. Perhaps because he was a soldier, his knife work was impressive and his cooking wasn’t half-bad. He prepared a full spread of his specialty dishes.
Qin Jiang didn’t forget to ingratiate himself with his future father-in-law. "I often cook for my parents at home. I’m sure my food isn’t as delicious as yours, Uncle, but I’d be grateful for a chance to learn a thing or two from you in the future."
Lin Feng nodded with a smile. "When you go out on missions, are you busy for months at a time?"
Qin Jiang knew the important questions were coming. "It varies. The longer ones can last several months, the shorter ones about half a month."
"I see," Lin Feng said. "That’s tough work."
Qin Jiang smiled. As they chatted, he said, "Tuan Tuan says we haven’t known each other long, but actually, I met her a long time ago. I know a lot about her."
Lin Feng smiled and asked, "She used to love being on the internet, always tinkering with one thing or another."
Back then, Second Treasure was quite the internet celebrity.
Qin Jiang’s gaze softened. "At the time, she started a free tutoring program for ninth and twelfth graders. I thought to myself, ’What a good girl.’
"She’s not only beautiful but also kind. Her parents raised her very, very well!"
This was music to Lin Feng’s ears. Praise for his own child sounded even sweeter than praise for himself. This Qin Jiang was something else. He looked serious and reserved, but he had such a silver tongue.
Lin Feng had a feeling that Second Treasure was no match for this guy.
