Chapter 737: Chapter 737: A Perfect Full Stop

「The next day.」

Zhang Yuxi was up at the crack of dawn. She even put on some light makeup to conceal the dark circles under her eyes.

Today, the matter of Number 13 Middle School was officially concluded. In this matter, although Lin Feng had done nothing himself, Zhang Yuxi had leveraged his status to secure the necessary cooperation. A major overhaul took place at the school, and everyone implicated was rooted out.

Major media outlets all covered the event, raising Zhang Yuxi’s public profile. She was proving to be more than just a mother of five or the wife of the richest man; she was a woman of immense capability in her own right.

"Well done! I don’t even know where to begin with the problems at L City’s Number 13 Middle School!"

"They’re finally getting serious this time. Director Zhang is amazing!"

"The beautiful and cool Director Zhang!"

"My goodness, after all these years, Director Zhang hasn’t aged a day."

"Beauty is ageless, and elegance never goes out of style."

"My mom is the same age as Director Zhang, and she can’t believe it!"

"Director Zhang is a total badass!"

"Director Zhang, we need you here! Can you come to our city?"

"Director Zhang is exactly the kind of person we need!"

Lin Feng had a rough idea of what Zhang Yuxi had done to achieve this.

"You’ve worked so hard."

"I’m not the one who should be tired," Zhang Yuxi said, her exhaustion evident in her voice. "On the contrary, you and Little Precious have had it rough."

He had accompanied her to L City and taken care of all her daily needs. For so many years, he had taken excellent care of their home, himself, and the children. She didn’t know how to thank him, other than to love him even more devotedly.

Just then, the doorbell rang.

Little Precious trotted to the door. "Excuse me, who are you looking for?"

Outside stood a family of three, bringing local specialties to thank Zhang Yuxi.

Once inside, they thanked her profusely, making Zhang Yuxi feel rather embarrassed. She insisted they stay for dinner.

As they were leaving, the young girl said with great seriousness, "When I grow up, I want to be just like you, Auntie!"

That one sentence made Zhang Yuxi smile. "Keep it up. You can do it."

Once they were gone, Little Precious dived into her mother’s arms. "Mom, you’re so awesome!"

This matter had finally been put to rest. Zhang Yuxi had brought it to a satisfying conclusion.

Next, Zhang Yuxi still had to stay in L City for a few more months. If nothing unexpected happened, she would probably return before the New Year. With the Number 13 Middle School affair resolved, many more issues were waiting for her to handle...

The pace of life in L City was slow, especially compared to Yangcheng. After dropping his daughter off at school, Lin Feng had free time and would often join a few old-timers for tea, chess, and other pastimes. He had to admit, life here was far more comfortable than back in Yangcheng.

As people get older, they tend to develop habits that younger people find difficult to accept, like being repetitive or constantly harping on the same old topics. Yet Lin Feng quite enjoyed hanging out with them, listening to their stories about the past and their everyday lives. He found it all very interesting.

Of course, they never missed an opportunity to try and set him up with someone. When the old men learned of Lin Feng’s actual situation, they were stunned.

"You... you’re really the same age as me? Are you serious?"

Lin Feng was nearly fifty, but at first glance, he still looked like he was in his early thirties. Every move he made exuded the ultimate charm of a middle-aged man.

He and Zhang Yuxi were different. His youthful appearance was an inherent system reward, while hers stemmed from awarded bonuses. Zhang Yuxi was originally several years older than Lin Feng, and women tend to age faster after having children, not to mention Zhang Yuxi had gone through a second pregnancy in her middle age. Now, she appeared much older than Lin Feng. Yet, time still couldn’t conceal the refined beauty and grace that remained after all worldly embellishments were stripped away.

The man who spoke was portly with a shiny bald head, his hair lost to time. He stood about 1.7 meters tall and was overweight, with a bloated complexion that clearly marked him as a man in his fifties. Seeing the two of them standing together, no one would believe they were the same age if their lives depended on it.

"Wow, brother, how do you stay so young? Share your secrets with us, will you?"

Who wouldn’t want to stay young?

Lin Feng smiled. "I generally don’t smoke or drink, I sleep on a regular schedule, I exercise a lot, and I stick to a regular, light diet."

"Plus, I keep a positive attitude. I suppose that’s why I look young."

For some, these were just words to be heard. Everyone knew the principles, but putting them into practice was incredibly difficult.

Sure enough, a few of them started laughing.

"No way I’m giving up smoking and drinking! Those are my hobbies; I can’t quit!"

"Life is for living! I just enjoy a few drinks. I feel awful if I go a day without one."

"Hey, I can eat less meat, but smoke less and drink less? Not happening."

After taking Little Precious to school at noon, Lin Feng would drink tea and play cards with them until it was time for pickup.

"I’m off to pick my daughter up from school," he’d say.

Every time they heard him mention picking up a child, everyone assumed he meant a grandchild. Today, someone casually asked, "How old’s your grandson? What grade is he in?"

Lin Feng got on his e-bike. "I’m picking up my youngest daughter. She’s in third grade."

He left behind a group of old men filled with emotion. It must be nice to have that much energy. If they still had that kind of vitality, they wouldn’t be stuck here just killing time every day.

Little Precious bounced out of school with her little backpack on. She was such a big girl, yet she still acted like a small child. Despite being only in third grade, she was growing fast and was already almost 1.6 meters tall. In her class, Little Precious’s height completely dwarfed her classmates.

Her third sister even said that once Little Precious grew a bit more, she would take her to walk the runway. At this rate of growth, who knew if she might reach 1.7 meters by the time she graduated elementary school.

"Daddy, I finished all my homework today!"

"So?" 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

"So we can go for a ride on the e-bike!"

With the five-day holiday just a few days away, Little Precious asked about their plans from her seat on the back. "What are your plans?"

"I want to go see Third Sister!" she immediately declared.

Lin Feng had been planning for that as well. "Done."

That evening, Zhang Yuxi was online, shopping for clothes for Little Precious. "A colleague’s daughter was wearing a dress like this today. It was so pretty, I’m buying one for Little Precious, too."

Lin Feng agreed it was nice. "It’s quite nice... but it doesn’t look like they have a size for Little Precious!"

The largest size available was a 150, but Little Precious now wore a 160. For autumn and winter clothes, she would need a 170.

Ever since Little Precious had started elementary school, Lin Feng and Zhang Yuxi hadn’t had to worry about her clothes. Relatives and friends gave her clothes, as did her four older siblings—so many that she couldn’t wear them all. They hadn’t bought clothes for Little Precious themselves in a very long time.

Looking at the pretty dress, Zhang Yuxi sighed. "I’ll see if I can find a similar style in her size."

In the end, not finding anything else she liked, she reluctantly bought the size 150 dress. I’ll have her try it on, she thought. It’s a long style, so maybe it’ll fit.

"Honey, Little Precious is only in third grade and she’s already almost 1.6 meters tall. How tall do you think she’ll end up being?" Zhang Yuxi herself had never grown this fast.

How would Lin Feng know? "Maybe 1.8 meters."

Zhang Yuxi frowned. "Wouldn’t that be too tall?"

Lin Feng gave her a nonchalant glance. "She could even reach 1.9 meters."

"Let’s stick with 1.8 meters," Zhang Yuxi said quickly, alarmed. "That’s the most I can handle. 1.9 meters is just too tall."

Lin Feng added, "Actually, height is always a mystery. Don’t just look at how fast she’s growing now. It’s possible she might suddenly stop."

"That happened when we were young. The one who was tallest early on ended up being overtaken by late bloomers and became the shortest."

Zhang Yuxi thought for a moment. "That’s true. She’s only in third grade, and if she does stop growing, 1.6 meters it is. It’s not that short."

A height of 1.6 meters, especially in the south, isn’t short at all. Once you put on some high heels and dress up, you look quite tall.
