My Crazy Upgrade System-Chapter 45 - 44: It Can Even Be Done Like This
Rage surged in Tan Yongsheng’s heart. He wanted to say something, but he couldn’t find a rebuttal. He merely shot him a vicious glare, then turned and left, refusing to spare him another glance.
The other guards also shot him nasty looks. None of them had a favorable impression of Yi Tianyun. They were part of Tan Yongsheng’s group, and since Tan Yongsheng loathed him, they were no different.
Yan Lingxue glanced over and could only apologize. "I’m sorry, Young Master Yi. They aren’t bad people at heart, they’re just a little suspicious of you. Please don’t take it to heart."
Yi Tianyun was rendered speechless. ’Not bad people at heart? Maybe not bad to *you*, but they’re certainly not good to *me*. The hostility is so thick, you’d think they want to kick me out of the group.’
"It’s nothing to worry about. Miss Yan, what kind of Spirit Medicine are you looking for?" Yi Tianyun asked.
’I just want to find the Spirit Medicine and finish this mission. I can’t be bothered with anything else.’
"I’m looking for a Spirit Medicine called Dragon Tail Grass," Yan Lingxue explained. "The nearby apothecaries are all sold out, so I had to come and gather it myself. I heard it appears in the central region of the Illusion Beast Mountain Range, but it’s supposedly extremely rare."
"Dragon Tail Grass..."
Of course, Yi Tianyun knew what Dragon Tail Grass was. Ever since obtaining Basic Alchemy Mastery, he had learned about many types of low-grade Spirit Medicines. Dragon Tail Grass was not a high-grade herb, only Second Grade, but its rarity was quite high, making it difficult to find.
Although it was difficult to find, it wasn’t particularly expensive because its effects were quite limited. It was primarily used to treat delirium—that is, to help those who were not of sound mind. Such conditions were rare under normal circumstances.
Qi Deviation during cultivation, for example, could cause such a state. Otherwise, delirium wouldn’t normally occur.
"Forgive my presumption, but has someone in your family suffered from Qi Deviation while cultivating?" Yi Tianyun asked.
"Young Master Yi, you’re familiar with this Spirit Medicine’s properties?" Yan Lingxue asked, a little surprised. The old man beside her couldn’t help but give him another look.
Dragon Tail Grass was quite rare, so very few people knew its specific effects. Yi Tianyun hadn’t detailed them, but he had correctly identified its main purpose.
"I know a little," Yi Tianyun explained with a smile. "In my spare time, I’ve made a point to learn how to identify Spirit Medicines. Otherwise, when you’re out training and stumble upon them, you wouldn’t recognize them, and it would be a waste."
"It seems you’re quite knowledgeable, Young Master Yi. And yes, I am here to gather this Spirit Medicine for a family member," Yan Lingxue said with a faint smile, though worry clouded her features.
"I see. But don’t worry, Miss Yan. We’ll definitely find the Dragon Tail Grass on this trip," Yi Tianyun said with a smile.
"I hope so..."
Dragon Tail Grass was indeed difficult to find. It wasn’t valuable, but it was uncommon, mainly because it rarely grew in this particular region.
"Break time’s over! We need to get going before it gets dark!" Tan Yongsheng impatiently called out, seeing the two of them chatting so animatedly.
Everyone then prepared to set off again. Yi Tianyun wasn’t bothered by the interruption; they were leading the way, after all.
Under Tan Yongsheng’s guidance, they successfully reached the central region of the Illusion Beast Mountain Range. Demon Beasts were numerous here, their cultivation levels typically around the first level of the Spirit Refining Stage. They ran into a few along the path, but Tan Yongsheng easily slew them all.
Every time a Demon Beast attacked, he would lead the charge, all for the sake of showing off in front of Yan Lingxue.
Yi Tianyun couldn’t be bothered to vie for the spotlight. ’If Tan Yongsheng wants to show off, let him show off all he wants.’
"This is strange... It’s really nowhere to be found. Is Dragon Tail Grass really this hard to find?" Tan Yongsheng muttered after leading them around the central region for a good while. They hadn’t spotted even a hint of the Dragon Tail Grass. As the sky grew darker, not only would the search become more difficult, but the Demon Beasts would also become more active.
After searching the area one more time to no avail, Tan Yongsheng proposed, "Miss Yan, it looks like we’re not going to find it today. We should retreat for now. It’s too dangerous to stay here at night."
Yan Lingxue’s face was filled with reluctance. She urgently needed the Dragon Tail Grass, and if this dragged on any longer, she would run out of time.
"Miss Yan, why don’t you let me lead? I’ll help search and see if I can find it," Yi Tianyun stepped forward and said at that moment.
"You?" Tan Yongsheng sneered, his eyes full of contempt. "And you think *you* can find it?"
"Yeah! If Boss Tan couldn’t find it, what makes you think you can?" one of the guards chimed in, clearly annoyed by Yi Tianyun’s statement.
"Can’t you tell how anxious Miss Yan is to find this Dragon Tail Grass?" Yi Tianyun retorted. "If you’re all scared, you can head back. I’ll search for it myself!" He had no desire to drag things out. ’If they won’t search, I’ll do it. Find the Dragon Tail Grass, complete the mission, and this will all be over.’
Yan Lingxue’s eyes lit up. She was indeed in a hurry; otherwise, she wouldn’t have come personally. The apothecaries had told her they were out of stock but that a new shipment would arrive in a few days. She simply couldn’t afford to wait.
"Scared!?" Tan Yongsheng exploded. "I’m worried about Miss Yan’s safety! It’s dangerous here at night! Since you’re so confident you can find it, then go on, lead the way. I’d love to see what special method you have to find this Dragon Tail Grass!"
His eyes dripped with ridicule. ’Let’s see what you’ve got! If you can’t find it, you’ll be utterly humiliated, and that would suit me just fine!’
"I don’t have any special method. I was just going to look around, that’s all," Yi Tianyun said. He didn’t actually have a particular skill for this, nor did he know where to begin, but he wanted to give it a try.
"There’s no need to argue," Yan Lingxue interjected, clearly siding with him. "In that case, let’s follow Young Master Yi’s suggestion. Let him lead the search." Despite the danger of being out at night, her desperation won out.
"Fine. We’ll do as Miss Yan says." Tan Yongsheng sneered. "You’re up, kid. You lead!" He gestured for Yi Tianyun to go ahead and stepped aside, gloating. He had already searched this area and refused to believe Yi Tianyun could actually find it.
"No problem."
Yi Tianyun took a step forward and silently recited a command in his mind.
’Activate Luck Aura!’
’That’s right. I have no special way of finding the Dragon Tail Grass, but I do have one trick up my sleeve: activating the Luck Aura! With a ridiculous boost to my luck, let’s see if I can find that Dragon Tail Grass!’
’After activating the Luck Aura, my Madness Value started draining away. One point per second! How could that not hurt? Even though it’s easier to earn Madness Value now, searching for something isn’t a quick process!’
He led the group forward, while those behind him sneered, waiting to see what he would do.
Yi Tianyun felt nothing in particular, so he just picked a random direction and began to walk. After only a few minutes, he glanced around and suddenly spotted a Spirit Medicine that resembled a dragon’s tail, growing right there beside the roots of a tree!
Yi Tianyun froze. ’It actually worked just like that?!’ He never thought that simply activating the Luck Aura would be so effective. He had just picked a random direction, walked for a bit, and there it was.
’Now *this* is what you call luck!’
