My Demon Wife In The Apocalypse: I Can Control Minds!-Chapter 88- The Queen (Part 1)
Chapter 88- The Queen (Part 1)
The battle tides were completely in Jack’s favor. He was able to keep pushing the horde back with his intelligent and intentional movements and extremely impressive spatial awareness. He noticed the weak parts in the horde and attacked it relentlessly while keeping the rest pushed back.
Even though the insects are fearless and kept attacking, they weren’t dumb enough not to realize that attacking him with numbers wasn’t working and instead they opted to encircle and try to trap him from all angles. However, with their dwindling numbers and Jack’s intelligence, it proved to be way harder said than done.
The insects tried to move on both flanks to surround him, only to find Jack had already moved out of the way and was in another spot, attacking the horde with immense destruction. Slowly but surely, Jack chipped at their numbers, dozen by dozen, making it easier and easier on him.
However, at the same time, he was starting to feel tired from the continuous aggressive fighting. His monstrous stamina was barely able to manage his demanding battle style.
Kill after kill, Jack’s body was completely covered in disgusting blood and body parts. He hadn’t taken a shower in days so his smell was awful. However, he didn’t even sense that smell as he was completely lost in the battle.
’I’m winning. Their numbers have been cut down quite a bit. They won’t be as much of a threat anymore now.’ Jack mused. He was certain that even if this horde attacked the group, not many would die fighting them off. There were only a few thousand left and they were all getting butchered by him.
At the same time, Jack started preparing himself to exit this area. Since the numbers were decreasing, he didn’t want to stay there longer and potentially risk the group getting attacked while he’s absent. Even if everyone was there, there are threats in this world that is far beyond their ability to handle.
He carved a patht through the horde and started moving toward the other side of the street. However, as he was like that, he suddenly felt something... A deep chill running down his spine. All the alarms in his mind went off as he quickly looked over his shoulder at the other end of the street.
There, right around the corner, he saw an extremely large head peeking at him from there. It was an insect head, the size of a building. With the thousands of eyes, its long proboscis moving up and down as it dripped sisgustingly. Small hair covered its body and made it appear even more chilling.
The creature stood a dozen meters tall, a size that Jack had never seen before in his life. His entire body froze for a second. He knew instantly that he couldn’t fight that thing... All his mind told him was to run as fast as possible to save his skin.
"What the fuck is that?!" He yelled before he quickly turned around and dashed forward. His heart started racing. ’What the hell is that thing? It’s huge. It’s absolutely huge.’
Looking over his shoulder. The creature didn’t move yet. It simply stared at him as if it was scrutinizing hil with its emotionless, dead eyes. However, Jack’s senses told him that he was indeed a target to that creature.
’I didn’t even see anything that size before. Why does it even exist? I thought these giant Namoks are the biggest in the horde. Agh, goddamit. Goddamit!!’ He yelled in his head.
As he turned around to try and take the turn, that was when his eyes widened as he looked down. A large looming shadow appeared over his head. Looking up slowly in sheer shock, Jack saw the creature flying over his head before landing powerfully in front of him. Its landing shook the entire neighborhood. A large cloud of dust settled around it and pushed Jack several steps away.
He covered his face with his arm as he looked up.
’How did it?!’
It was instantaneous, the creature crossed several hundred meters in a second. That alone shook Jack to the core. No creature that size should be allowed to move that fast. That is simply not something that should be possible.
The proboscis of the creature aimed at Jack, its hole big enough to suck him in with ease. Immediately, he knew what it wanted to do as he quickly dashed back.
*BOOOOOM*
The sharp end pierced the ground a split second later, reaching deep into it. Large debris flew everywhere. The boy was barely able to dodge it in time as he rolled on the ground and landed on his feet.
Pulling it out, the monster moved toward Jack quickly and stabbed again. Jack sidestepped before he tried to counter with his sword.
*CLING*
"What?!"
The sword bounced back with a sharp sound as if it hit some kind of indestructible object. The proboscis was extremely tough, so much that Jack couldn’t even see the sword leaving a mark on it.
At the same time, instead of pulling its proboscis out, the monster dragged it through the ground to the side, taking Jack by surprise.
*BANG*
Slamming into his body, the boy was sent flying several dozen feet as he slammed into a window, breaking it and falling inside the building.
"Agh... Cough! Cough!" He coughed profusely as he held his side. He felt sharp pain assaulting him. ’Did it break a rib?’ He clenched his teeth as he stood up and looked outside.
"What am I even supposed to do against this thing? It’s extremely fast, strong, and durable. I should aim for the legs; they might be easier to injure."
Spitting out a mouthful of saliva mixed with blood, he rushed out of the store only to see the monster rushing toward him at top speed. His eyes moved toward the target and he realized... It was aiming to crash into the building.
’Shit!’
The boy quickly sprang into motion, dashing as far away from the building as possible before it collapsed and killed him.
*BOOOOOM* 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
The hit was like another earthquake that hit the world. Jack fell to the ground as the building was blasted through by the strong monster. Its strong body and speed wrecked it. Large tons of rock and debris exploded everywhere, hitting Jack as he tried to stand up. Luckily, Aether was covering his body, so he didn’t get seriously injured. However, the monster wasn’t over.
After smashing into that building, it suddenly put its proboscis on one of the large chunks of rock, sucked it in, and then aimed the proboscis at Jack. The boy’s heart stopped before he quickly charged his red lightning.
*SWISH*
The rock was launched at enormous speeds toward him, faster than a bullet. The boy launched the red lightning back.
*BOOOOOM*
The rock exploded upon impact, stopping dead in its track before it could reach him.
’It’s smart too. Knowing I won’t be able to dodge that kind of attack on time.’
But, much to his worst nightmare, the monster started sucking more and more rocks. Quickly, the boy ran, using those few precious seconds to find some cover. Jumping inside a building, he readied himself for the impact.
*BANG* *BANG* *BANG*
A second later, all hell broke lose. The rocks smashed into the building, destroying it completely. It was like a machine gun that sent missiles one after the other. In a matter of moments, the entire place was completely wrecked and Jack inside was feeling the result of that.
The entire place started collapsing as he ran to the other side, jumping through the window. A moment later, everything came crushing down.
As he emerged, however, he found the insect waiting for him on the other side.
’This is ridiculous! Give me a goddamn break.’ He cursed as he quickly tried to move out of the way. The monster was relentless with its attacks, as aggressive as he was, if not worse. It didn’t help that it was way stronger than him, either.
The boy was completely trapped there, between the building and the wreckage. He was faced with the monster head-on.
With no other choice, he brandished his sword and rushed toward it. Since he can’t escape, he might as well try to damage it in any way he can. He was certain it was a very dangerous and stupid idea, but with everything else leading to death, offense becomes the best form of defense.
The monster knew that and tried to attack him quickly, moving its large proboscis to suck him in. However, the boy quickly dodged as he closed the distance down. It chased him, tried to crush him, only for the boy to dodge. Reaching one of its legs, he used Myth’s resolve.
*SLASH*
The sword slash flew through, damaging the rather thin leg. He heard the creature screech before it moved its injured leg away. A chunk of it was cut.
