My Divine system-Chapter 42: The hundred
The principal stood at the podium, his expression serious as he addressed the students. "The Arcseraph Academy has been officially assigned a critical mission: to protect the Eastern Republic city from any monster threats. Your primary duty is to ensure the immediate safety of the civilians, minimizing any potential damages at all costs."
A murmur spread through the crowd—some students nodded in understanding, others whispered nervously, while a few groaned, clearly unhappy with the weight of the task ahead. But this was the Arcseraph Academy, one of the most prestigious academies in the world, respected even by the powerful big families who recognized its influence and strength.
The principal continued, "Students ranked below 100 will be paired with a teammate best suited to complement your aspect and skills. Each team will also have a dedicated healer assigned to guarantee your safety in the field. This collaboration is essential working as a unit will maximize our chances of success."
He paused, letting the gravity of the situation sink in, before concluding, "This mission is a testament to your abilities. The eyes of the academy—and the world—are on us."
As the principal continued with his speech, the room buzzed with a mix of excitement and apprehension. Some students exchanged determined glances, while others whispered doubts about the dangers ahead. Suddenly, the loud clang of the training hall’s bell echoed through the academy grounds a reminder that there was no time to waste.
"Remember," the principal added firmly, "your success depends not only on your strength but on teamwork and trust. The healers in each squad will be your lifeline, so protect them as fiercely as you would yourself."
Among the crowd, a few students already began strategizing quietly, understanding that this mission could shape their entire future at Arcseraph Academy. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
The principal continued " each kill will be recorded on your wrist watch and you will be rewarded by the number of kills you have" immediately he said that everyone’s wrist watches beeped and the number zero was seen on it screen.
I think that’s all for those ranked lower, head over to the inspection hall to get your assigned teammate.
Immediately the room was cleared and they were only a hundred students left and those were the powerhouse of the academy, it’s true fighters and anomaly awakens.
" Oh , crappy" Michael said of course he just had to be apart of the department that would get the hardest mission.
Why the fuck I’m so unlucky.
The principal’s face grew serious as he slowly turned to face the students. "I’m sorry to say this, but you set of students must take on this dangerous task. It’s a responsibility that only you are capable of handling, despite the risks involved. The safety of the entire Eastern Republic city rests on your shoulders, and we trust in your strength, skill, and courage to see it through. This mission will test everything you’ve learned, but it’s also the moment where you prove what it truly means to be part of Arcseraph Academy."
" Damn it, why giving us the hero speech if you are going to send us to our death" Michael felt like shouting .
"You will each be assigned to defend an entire block on your own, without any immediate backup or reinforcements nearby. I know how daunting and dangerous this sounds being alone in a potentially hostile zone but to guarantee the safety of the civilians, this strategy is necessary. Your mission is to hold your designated area firmly for exactly one hour. During that time, you must stay vigilant, remain calm under pressure, and utilize all your training and skills to repel any monster attacks or threats that come your way.
After that hour, a specialized extraction team will arrive at your location to pull you out safely. It won’t be easy, and there will be no room for mistakes, but the whole academy and the city are counting on you. Remember, your courage and resilience in this short but critical window can prevent widespread destruction and save countless innocent lives. Trust your instincts, protect yourself, and make every second count. You are stronger than you realize, and we have full confidence in each of you but ne aware that the creatures you will face will be in mass but not something you can’t handle, our instructors will try to minimize the amount of pressure each of you should face out there ".
Everyone nodded.
After the principal finished, the room fell into a tense silence. Everyone could feel the weight of the mission pressing down on them. Some clenched their fists, others took deep breaths, trying to steady their nerves. Michael muttered under his breath, still frustrated but knowing there was no turning back now.
The instructors began calling out names, directing the hundred strongest students toward the inspection hall to be given there task and collect their gear. Outside, dark clouds gathered, almost as if nature itself sensed the coming storm.
Before the students dispersed, the principal’s voice rang out one last time, "Remember, no matter how hard this mission gets, you are Arcseraph’s finest. Trust your training, trust your teammates, and fight not just for yourselves, but for every life depending on you. We will be watching — and so will the world."
As they filed out, a grim determination settled over the academy like a shadow the real battle was about to begin.
As the students spilled out of the hall, the weight of their mission settled on their shoulders like a heavy cloak. Michael glanced at his wristwatch, its cold digital glow a grim reminder of the countdown ticking relentlessly forward. The sky outside roiled with dark clouds, a chilling mirror to the storm brewing in their hearts.
The bustling academy grounds, usually filled with laughter and chatter, now felt tense and grim everyone knew this wasn’t just another training exercise. Whispers floated through the crowd about which blocks they’d be assigned, about monsters spotted near the city outskirts, and about the impossible odds they faced.
Michael took a deep breath, steeling himself.
The distant roar of the monsters echoed faintly, a stark reminder that time was running out. The hour was upon them.
With a final glance back at the academy’s towering spires fading into the storm, Michael tightened his grip on his weapon and stepped forward. The real battle had just begun.
"Hope I don’t actually die this time". Michael said with a sigh.
Come to think about it, he should have already died, left alone in some dark alley to wither away and be forgotten by the world. No one to hear his cries or remember his name just another lost soul swallowed by the shadows. Yet here he is, still breathing, still fighting against all odds, like a stubborn ember refusing to be snuffed out.
Makes you wonder what’s really keeping him alive, right?
Well Michael knew why he was the monarch of the shadow, wielder of divinity and heir of shadow God and ruler of shadow.
If that’s not what’s keeping him alive then what.
