Chapter 796: Chapter 796: Two Paths to Death, Choose One

Song Tangtang lamented, "It’s already 2052, and using the Truth Serum is still so troublesome?"

With that, she kicked Ye Shen again and huffed, "Men’s words are truly deceitful."

Ye Shen raised his hands in surrender. "Tangtang, everything I’ve said has been from the heart, alright? Even without the Truth Serum, it’s all from the heart."

Song Tangtang rolled her eyes, pointedly ignoring Ye Shen.

Just then, her favorite dish was brought to the table, and she focused on enjoying the delicious food. After tasting it and finding it to her liking, she even picked up a portion with her chopsticks for Ye Shen.

Even though I said I’d ignore him, I still want to share this delicious food with him.

The newlyweds were inseparable, as if joined at the hip.

As the banquet moved into its latter half, the pair left the state banquet hall. Ye Shen then took her on a tour of the Royal Palace.

The Undersea Royal Palace contained Ye Shen’s personal quarters. However, since his parents resided in Yecheng, he usually stayed there with them. But his bedroom in the Undersea Royal Palace was far more luxurious, housing the many treasures he had collected since childhood. It also held mementos from his childhood with Song Tangtang, things they had played with together.

Ye Shen showed these to Song Tangtang. As they reminisced about the little moments from their childhood, their bond deepened.

Song Tangtang smiled, her spirits high. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

Si Mingjing also departed the state banquet hall early; she had received an urgent phone call.

Bo Leng had called to report that Xiaobai, Fengyin, and Xiangru were all missing.

Those two children must have seen the news about Si Yuan’s misfortune and, furious, rushed off to seek retribution for her, Si Mingjing thought. Especially Xiaobai. Si Yuan had raised him, and their bond was extraordinarily deep.

Upon hearing the news, he had instantly transformed into an enraged little dragon, practically snorting fire!

Bo Leng initially thought Xiaobai had gone to the Dragon Pond for a bath. When Xiaobai hadn’t returned to the Prince Residence after two full days, Bo Leng personally went to search for the children, only to find the Dragon Pond empty. Troops stationed nearby reported that Fengyin had requisitioned a submarine.

Based on Bo Leng’s deduction, Xiaobai should have already reached Yecheng by this time.

A sense of foreboding washed over Si Mingjing. She strode quickly away and called out to Fengjue at the doorway, "Where are the influential figures—Geshu Tang, Bai Qiuyuan, and Yong Shifeng—now?"

Noticing a tall figure emerging behind Si Mingjing, Fengjue bowed. "Your Excellency, Crown Princess Consort, they have been escorted to the Royal Palace’s interrogation room."

"Take me there!" Si Mingjing commanded.

Fengjue acknowledged the order and led the way.

Mo Yinhe walked shoulder to shoulder with Si Mingjing, following close behind. Before they even reached the interrogation room, a loud BANG echoed from within—it was a gunshot.

Mo Yinhe and Si Mingjing exchanged a look and quickened their pace, striding past Fengjue and into the room.

Sure enough, they saw young Ye Nianbai holding a gun aimed directly at Geshu Tang.

"Xiaobai! Stop!" Mo Yinhe ordered sternly.

Si Mingjing glanced over. Geshu Tang was unharmed, but the white-bearded Bai Qiuyuan had been shot. Bai Qiuyuan lay on the ground, a gunshot wound in his shoulder.

Si Mingjing breathed a sigh of relief. She strode over, snatched the gun from Xiaobai’s hand, and picked him up. "Xiaobai," she said gently, "Jingjing knows you want to avenge your aunt. You’re a good boy."

"They bullied Aunt! This Young Master will slaughter them!" Ye Nianbai was incandescent with rage! His little Dragon Horns even poked out, glowing a fiery red as if about to spew sparks.

Bo Fengyin was perched on Yong Shifeng’s back, pummelling him furiously with small fists, looking like he wanted to beat Yong Shifeng into pulp.

Mo Yinhe strode over, plucked Bo Fengyin off Yong Shifeng, and held him. He soothed the child’s agitation, saying, "Alright, alright. Daddy knows you’re both sensible. You’re good children."

It took a considerable while before the two agitated little dragons could be pacified.

Si Mingjing handed Ye Nianbai to Mo Yinhe and then squatted to examine Elder Bai Qiuyuan’s gunshot wound. The bullet hadn’t struck any vital organs.

While Si Mingjing treated Elder Bai Qiuyuan’s wound, Geshu Tang and Yong Shifeng composed themselves and pulled up chairs. Although they were under investigation, they hadn’t yet been convicted.

Considering their status, Mo Yinhe still offered an apology with a smile, saying the children were merely being mischievous and hoped the elders wouldn’t take their actions to heart.

Geshu Tang’s expression remained as stoic as Mount Tai, but inwardly, it felt as though a skyscraper was collapsing. I’ve lost, he realized with chilling certainty. Utterly defeated.

Mo Yinhe would undoubtedly find evidence of their crimes and ultimately bring them to justice.

On Mu Continent, there is a saying: "Harm the Dragon Clan, and you will be hunted down and punished, no matter how far you flee!"

The same held true in Atlantis.

"Harm the Mermaids, and you will be hunted down and punished, no matter how far you flee!"

Once the evidence was presented to the populace, they would never forgive them. Such was the will of the people.

"Crown Prince," Geshu Tang began, looking up at Mo Yinhe, "do you know what I regret most in my life?"

Fengjue brought a grandmaster’s chair, and Mo Yinhe sat, listening intently.

"It was fifty years ago," Geshu Tang continued. "I advised the late Emperor that your mother was a Sea God sent by the heavens to Atlantis, persuading His Majesty to adopt her as his goddaughter. At that time, your mother was merely an unsightly, artificial Mermaid from A Country, abandoned by her own parents. Without me, she would have been nothing!"

A faint, cold smile touched Mo Yinhe’s lips. "Uncle Geshu, you should understand there’s no such thing as Regret Medicine in this world. My mother never wished to be Queen of Atlantis; she only wanted a simple life with my father in A Country. It was you who forced her to ascend the throne—you and the six great families. Surely you haven’t forgotten that?"

Geshu Tang’s eyes narrowed slightly as he recalled that unbearable palace struggle.

"If she hadn’t killed all the late Emperor’s heirs," Geshu Tang said, "leaving Atlantis without a successor, and her being his only goddaughter..."

Mo Yinhe gave a cold laugh. He’s blatantly lying, he thought.

"Uncle Geshu, don’t think that just because I wasn’t born then, I’m ignorant of what happened. If your memory is failing you, I can certainly help refresh it."

Mo Yinhe continued, "The late Emperor had numerous offspring but was slow to name an heir, leading to a turbulent undercurrent of succession battles. Even my mother, a goddaughter with no real standing in Atlantis, became a thorn in the side of the contenders. The Fifth Princess dispatched assassins after my mother. If my memory serves, the one sent was your elder brother, Geshu Chen, wasn’t he?"

"Your brother, Geshu Chen, was infatuated with the Fifth Princess and eager to help her claim the throne. Thus, he targeted the other princes and princesses. My mother, a goddaughter in Atlantis with no connections, became someone Geshu Chen was determined to eliminate."

"My mother met my father when she was fleeing for her life. Father was just a youth then, out on a sea excursion. He was unfortunately surrounded by sharks when Mother, also on the run, rescued him."

"Later, Geshu Chen tracked them down, and my parents fled to a deserted island. Geshu Chen dispatched a large contingent of pursuers to lay siege to it. Realizing they were outnumbered, Father knocked Mother unconscious and hid her in the dense forest. He then acted as a decoy to lure Geshu Chen away but was captured and brutally tortured. When he was at death’s door, Geshu Chen cast him into the sea."
