My Dreams Connect to Ancient Times-Chapter 86 - 80: A Budding Talent with Era-Surpassing Momentum
But it wasn’t over yet.
Another ripple appeared on the horizon.
Accompanied by the vast and sonorous sound of a Dharma lecture, another Earth Immortal appeared. He was clad in scholarly elegance, holding an ancient scroll, his expression serene and tranquil.
The mayor of East Sea City and the Confucian Celestial Human from before hurried forward and bowed in unison:
"Greetings, Teacher!"
Ao Chengzhong’s expression grew solemn. He narrowed his eyes and said,
"Kong Jisheng... you’ve come to meddle in this as well?" 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
The scholarly man known as Kong Jisheng closed the scroll in his hand and said faintly,
"The peace talks are of the utmost importance. Brother Ao, it would be best to consider the bigger picture. An honorary researcher is not part of Longque Technology’s core, and his status is not equal to Hou Qingshan’s. It’s better to hand him over."
As he spoke, down below, Lu Xiuyuan’s expression became extremely grim.
He whispered to Lu Xuan beside him,
"This is trouble. It’s an Earth Immortal from the Kong Family. They’re masters of debate. If Ao Chengzhong loses the argument, he’ll have no reason to protect you."
Lu Xuan smiled, his expression calm.
"It’s fine."
He had already prepared for the worst, ready to throw out the Heaven-Flipping Seal at a moment’s notice to buy himself a few seconds and enter his dream.
’My master said he wouldn’t interfere unless an Upper Celestial Venerable or stronger made a move, as that would be a senior bullying a junior,’ he thought. Lu Xuan didn’t plan on seeking his master’s help. Instead, he wanted to see if the people from his dreams, the beings of Ancient Times, could be brought out like objects. Could they cross tens of thousands, or even more than a hundred thousand, Years to arrive in the Current World?
If it was possible, then the Eighty-One Armors sent by the Celestial Son of Zhou were all Celestial Humans, and Yin Xi’s Cultivation was certainly above that of a Celestial Human. They might just be able to help him survive this crisis.
If not, it was only death. Nothing to make a fuss about.
He should have died seven years ago in Qianlong City anyway.
Just as Lu Xuan was focusing his mind, the situation in the sky changed again.
The Demon Immortal strode back, adding to Kong Jisheng’s words,
"Brother Kong speaks with reason. Although I shouldn’t interfere in a conflict between juniors, their statuses should at least be comparable. My nephew was the direct son of a Little Saint. How can this little whelp be considered his equal?"
Kong Jisheng also nodded and said,
"That is precisely the logic. Brother Ao, please step aside."
Ao Chengzhong’s expression was grim, but then he began to laugh.
"Are you... threatening me?"
His face turned cold, and his tone became playful yet menacing.
"I’ve always been part of the pro-war faction. A breakdown in the peace talks is exactly what I want. What if I were to leave Longque Technology and slaughter you all right here? What then?"
The expressions of the two Earth Immortal Level figures changed drastically.
Kong Jisheng took a step back.
"Brother Ao, if you do this, you will be defying the world and inviting certain death."
"Is that so?" Ao Chengzhong’s expression grew dangerous, as if he found his own idea feasible and was eager to try it.
Kong Jisheng’s expression changed again. His tone became placating as he tried to dissuade him.
"Brother Ao, what need is there for this? I am simply reasoning with you based on the facts. If the killer’s status were comparable to Hou Qingshan’s, or even just a notch below, I would say nothing. But..."
But as he was speaking, something suddenly happened.
On the ground, Lu Xuan, who was fully focused and ready to flip the table at any moment, heard the pitter-patter of footsteps. He glanced to the side and saw a small, clumsy figure running up to him.
"Xiaoyan..."
He was stunned. Just as he was about to say something, he saw Xiaoyan wave toward the sky.
"Look here!" she shouted, mustering all her courage.
The prodigies on the ground, the Celestial Humans in the sky, and the three Earth Immortals all turned to look.
Then, Xiaoyan pointed at Hou Qingshan’s headless corpse and declared in a crisp, clear voice,
"His Soul hasn’t been extinguished, so he isn’t completely dead."
Lu Xiuyuan’s eyes lit up. ’That’s right! If his Soul isn’t gone, he’s not truly dead. Maybe there’s a chance to turn this around...’
Ao Chengzhong’s expression also shifted, a look of relief appearing on his face. Hou Wushu’s icy gaze softened slightly. ’Indeed, if the Soul remains, only the physical shell has died. Reconstructing a body isn’t that difficult...’
However, in the next second...
Xiaoyan timidly reached out, grabbed the Broken Blade from Lu Xuan’s hand, and snatched it away.
Then, she raised the blade and executed a Soul Killing and Soul Breaking Fighting Skill, bringing it down with a slash.
A wisp of a departed soul was utterly obliterated, scattered to the winds!
"You!!" Hou Wushu’s eyes instantly turned red. Everyone else’s jaws slowly dropped in astonishment.
Then, Yan Jiangxue took off her sunglasses, mask, and little hat, revealing a peerless beauty that could topple nations. She turned to Kong Jisheng and said cheerfully,
"There, now I’m a killer too. Our statuses are equal now, right?"
Lu Xiuyuan and Ao Chengzhong were both dumbfounded. ’What... what kind of logic is that...?’
The Demon Immortal’s face was so dark it looked like water might drip from it. Many of the Celestial Humans had also recognized the girl below and now exchanged bewildered glances.
As for Kong Jisheng, he raised a trembling hand and pointed at Yan Jiangxue.
"You, you..."
He too was flabbergasted with anger, his chest tight and his lips quivering.
"Are you trying to make me pay with my life?" Xiaoyan blinked her big, watery eyes, shrank behind Lu Xuan, and pulled out her phone to make a call.
The call connected. She put it on speaker and said in a wronged voice,
"Dad! I accidentally, *accidentally* killed a bad Demon, and now a Demon Immortal from outside the pass and someone named Kong Jisheng want me to pay with my life!"
’Accidentally... *accidentally*??’
Kong Jisheng’s vision went black. ’And when did I ever say this little girl had to pay with her life??’
On the other end of the line, Yan Huang exploded with fury.
"How dare they! Don’t be scared, my sweet girl. Dad is sending people to East Sea City right now. Dad’s coming back..."
Then, he roared again,
"Damn it! Some Demon King dares to bully my daughter?! And they want peace talks? Peace talks my ass! It’s war! War! And that Kong Jisheng... he’s from the Kong Family, right? I’m going to go flip their Kong Clan Territory upside down!"
Yan Huang’s roars echoed from the phone. Everyone present, including the immortals in the sky, heard him loud and clear and exchanged uneasy glances.
In the sky, Ao Chengzhong narrowed his eyes and suddenly bellowed,
"You dare conspire to harm the young miss? The audacity! Now die!"
He struck with domineering force. Now that he had the moral high ground, he showed no mercy, attacking both Hou Wushu and Kong Jisheng at the same time. His blows made both of them cough up blood and sent a massive tremor through the sky!
"That was not my intention! I will not interfere in the juniors’ conflict! The peace talks must continue! If you persist, Longque Technology will be deliberately sabotaging the peace talks!" Hou Wushu roared while coughing up blood. Ao Chengzhong was absurdly strong, not at all like a typical Earth Immortal. If this continued, he would really be beaten to death!
In the face of death, even a Demon Immortal felt a chill of fear.
Kong Jisheng was in no better shape. His chest was caved in, his Vast Qi completely hammered out of him. He hurriedly shrieked toward the ground,
"Chairman Yan, this is a misunderstanding! We have not touched a single hair on your daughter! We have absolutely no intention of harming her!"
On the other end of the call, Yan Huang had already figured out most of the situation just by listening. He deliberately stalled for a moment, waiting until the two Earth Immortals had been severely wounded before finally speaking in a leisurely tone,
"Oh, a misunderstanding, you say? In that case, Chengzhong, stop. We don’t want to be accused of deliberately sabotaging the peace talks. Our Longque Technology certainly follows the consensus, after all..."
Ao Chengzhong stopped as instructed, allowing Hou Wushu and Kong Jisheng to finally catch their breath.
On the phone, Yan Huang exchanged a few more pleasantries with Yan Jiangxue before casually hanging up.
The scene fell into a dead silence. The Celestial Humans were quiet, and the young prodigies were completely and utterly bewildered, staring at one another.
Up in the Celestial Vault, Ao Chengzhong stretched lazily and said with a wide grin,
"Wouldn’t it have been better if you two had just done this from the start? What was the point of all this...?"
With that, he waved his hand magnanimously.
"Alright, since it was all a misunderstanding, everyone can disperse!"
Everyone was silent. Hou Wushu clenched his fists, but the lingering fear kept him from saying another word. It was the same for Kong Jisheng beside him, whose lips were trembling with rage.
After a long silence, as the Celestial Humans began to gather up their respective juniors from the ground to leave, Lu Xuan suddenly called out to them.
He raised his head, lifted his eyelids slightly, and spoke softly,
"If I, a mere junior, should encounter any of these so-called Celestial Human descendants causing chaos and trouble within East Sea City..."
Xiaoyan, at his side, finished the sentence for him. She raised the Broken Blade, her face flushed, and declared in a voice both timid and fierce,
"No mercy will be shown! No mercy!"
All the Celestial Humans fell silent. None of the prodigies dared to speak, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.
Kong Jisheng’s face was dark. The Demon Immortal Hou Wushu shot Lu Xuan a glare, wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, and prepared to leave.
Just before departing, he suddenly stopped and asked coldly,
"What is your name?"
The young man gave a brilliant smile.
"My name... is Lu Xuan!"
Lu Xuan?
Every single Celestial Human and prodigy committed that name to memory. Hou Wushu just snorted faintly, not even taking his nephew’s corpse with him as he flicked his sleeve and departed.
East Sea City returned to tranquility once more. But on this day, Lu Xuan’s name, photograph, and file appeared on the desks of the higher-ups in one major power after another.
Sixteen years old. A Physique without equal. Vital energy like a great river. Casually struck down Hou Qingshan. Rebuked Celestial Humans and Earth Immortals...
The young man had only just begun to show his talent, yet he already carried the air of one who could dominate an era.
