My Dungeon Life: Rise of the Slave Harem-Chapter 1679
Dungeon’s typically didn’t grow gradually. Rather, they collected energy, which came in the form of mana and was stored as miasma. Once they had absorbed enough miasma, they would then evolve. Evolution caused the dungeon to close its doors for some time. It would process all of the new lore that it had gained, and then use that lore to grow and change. Sometimes, that just meant adding new levels. Other times, it could involve updating the theme, adding bosses, or even rearranging things completely. The more traditional dungeons increased their size. It roughly translated to about ten floors every ten years, or a floor a year.
Just like with a tree though, the older it got and the more it had grown, the more set in its path it became. Perhaps, in the beginning, you can trim a tree down and make it grow horizontally, but once it had already grown vertically a few dozen meters, it was too late for such a thing. My dungeon had a bazaar upbringing. It hadn’t just been allowed to grow normally, but it had been nearly destroyed multiple times, and I had even rearranged it for my convenience.
The dungeon was created by me, but Astria, Elaya, and Xin had initially shared responsibility as the dungeon master, and I had only taken on that responsibility rather recently. I also had a soul world attached to the dungeon, but just like the dungeon, that soul world had been destroyed and regrown numerous times. There was no saying how all of these variables would affect the dungeon’s growth over time.
The instigating event this time was the massive absorption of mana from King Roth’s dungeon. I had never even entered his dungeon, nor did I know where it was, but our two dungeons were connected during our battle, and I had turned the tables and absorbed the miasma from his core. This was different from when I absorbed the human core. Typical absorption would destroy Roth’s core and absorb energy, with only snippets of lore being recovered. This was why I didn’t know everything Roth knew, since most of the information was destroyed in the process.

That said, it still was nearly double the amount of energy that the dungeon previously had, forcing it into another massive growth period. We had to chop off the area of the dungeon connected to the dwarves’ home and support it with pillars and archways, so the dwarves weren’t forced out of their new home during the update period. Thankfully, they seemed to know what they were doing when it came to underground chambers, and the transition went smoothly.
Dungeons were controlled by dungeon masters, but in a way, they were like people themselves. They were a cursed story, but as they grew stronger and older, they started to form differences. They had personalities, preferences, and attitudes. There was a bit of a tug and a pull between what the dungeon wanted and what the master wanted. A master could rule a dungeon with an iron fist, although there were also masters who became controlled by the dungeon, a tool for its desires.
Usually, it was the dungeon who made the master, a powerful dungeon boss that eventually gained enough power that they gained a sentience and miasmic soul of their own. In my case, it was the other way around, I had made the dungeon myself. Therefore, I had never really encountered any of those issues regarding the dungeon going against my will.
Other than the few times I had to change the dungeon to survive a specific battle, I had mostly left it free to do what it wanted. During this growth period, I could have probably forced it to grow a certain way that I wanted, but I had instead left the dungeon to grow how it wanted. Therefore, I had no clue how the dungeon was going to look now that it had evolved once again, but I was eager to find out. freёwebnoѵel.com
