My Evil Crown Prince-Chapter 65: The Auction
The exhibit started with a presentation about the antique collection. It was Juliano Garcia’s grandmother, who was fond of old and rare items. However, she died a year, so the family decided to hold an event and put the collection in an auction.
Then they allowed them to have a look at the sample pieces that would be put at auction before presenting them separately. In total of a hundred pieces, only twenty would be sold at the event. The rest of the collection would be put in an antique museum.
"Now, we’re going to start the bidding for the first piece. Our first item is the Qianlong Dynasty Vase. A master artisan had made this vase for the Emperor in the 1740s. During this period in Britain, porcelain was only just beginning to be formed, and had none of the grace and sophisticated designs of its Chinese counterparts. It is believed that the vase was likely robbed from the Royal Palace in the late 1800s, a time recognized for significant theft from a collection of sources. Starting bid for this rare historical piece is ten million dollars." The host said.
Three people raised their number and one of them took a bid for twenty million dollars.
"Going twice?" The host asked.
"Forty." A woman wearing a red pencil cut dress raised a number.
Caden leaned toward her. "Would you like me to bid for that vase?"
She knew he was just teasing her, so she laughed at it.
"Anyone would take it for fifty million?"
"Fifty." A man responded.
"Fifty-five million dollars!" The woman in the red dress shouted.
"Any higher takers? No one? Then sold for fifty-five million dollars to our gorgeous lady over there." The host smiled.
Then another item was presented. "The Sword of Destiny. This is closed to Excalibur of King Arthur. It is said that this was the first sword of King Arthur before Excalibur. This sword is still sharp and can cut anyone and anything. Starting bid is fifteen million dollars."
"Twenty million." Caden raised his number. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
She was a bit surprised. "You’re interested in that sword? What if it’s fake?" She asked, curiosity piqued.
Caden chuckled. "It’s fine. I love the story of King Arthur."
"Are you being serious?" She stared at him, amused.
He raised his right hand to swear. "Yes. It’s one of my favorite stories."
"Twenty million for the Crown Prince of Flousia. Any higher bidders?" The host asked.
"Thirty million!" A man who was wearing a blue suit shouted.
Since Caden looked so interested, she didn’t want him to lose.
"Fifty million!" She said in graceful manner.
The people focused their attention on the girl who had the sweetest voice. She ignored the attention and turned to Caden with a smile.
"I’ll buy it for you." She said, enough to be heard by those near them.
"Oh, so sweet! Fifty million for the Crown Princess. Any other takers?"
"Sixty million! And this is for the Crown Prince!"
Another woman’s voice caught everyone’s attention. But not because of the amount of bid she took, but because she said it was for Caden.
Caden frowned and looked at the woman.
"Do you know her?" She asked.
"That’s Veronica St. Clair. She’s known to spend her wealth in exchange for one night with a man she likes." Brie mumbled.
She would never let anyone take Caden, so she raised her number again while glaring at the woman. "One hundred million dollars!"
"Baby, you don’t need to compete with her. It’s fine. You know I can’t be bought." Caden whispered.
"I don’t care. I’m pissed." She hissed.
The woman glared back at her, and she could see her lips muttering something.
"Wow! That’s high enough for a sword! Anybody else want to dare the Crown Princess?" The host asked. "No one? Then sold to the prettiest woman tonight, the Crown Princess of Flousia and heiress of Hoseki Empire."
Caden suddenly pulled her, giving her a quick kiss on the lips. "Thank you, my love."
"Let’s proceed with the third item. The Patek Philippe Pocket Watch, also known as the Mona Lisa of watches. Invented in the year 1932, the finest horological art ever invented, and the most complex timepiece created by human hands. Starting bid is thirty million dollars."
"Fifty million!"
It surprised her when Brie raised her number and shouted. She didn’t know the girl was interested in old pieces. Brie was more on modern technology and stuff, so she thought events like this wouldn’t excite the girl.
"Do you like the pocket watch?" She heard Lucas asked Brie.
Brie shook her head. "No. I’m not interested."
"Then why did you bid for it?" Lucas frowned.
Brie bit her lip and turned to Lucas. "Because it’s your collection."
"Oh, then it’s for me?" Lucas asked.
Brie smiled and nodded. "That watch is rare and it would look good in your glass cabinet."
She wanted to scold Lucas for being so slow. Brie was so considerate and so sweet. The girl’s world was full of him. Basically, just him.
"Any takers for fifty-five? Nobody? Then sold to Miss Aubrey Tiffany Cross."
The next pieces didn’t catch their interest. As the event went on, they tried to look at the guests who were present at the event. Brie was able to check their backgrounds and what they looked like so they already knew most of them.
Her gaze stuck on the woman in the red pencil cut dress. She was around fifty years old, but her beauty and elegance could not be compared to the other women sitting near her.
"That woman. I’m sure she’s Dr. Mary Watkins." She whispered.
Caden simply took a glance at the woman, then turned to her. "You think so, too? I’m eyeing on her as soon as she took the vase."
Brie was unable to search for a photo of Mary Watkins. She couldn’t find any information about the doctor, which was very unusual.
"And now, I think this is the piece you’re all waiting for. The black diamond!" The host shouted as the assistant presented a gold necklace with a black heart diamond pendant.
