Chapter 676

Anton should not fault himself for spouting such cringy nonsense, but he was just copying how one of the male sea-elf spoke. It was like watching one of the Harry Potter films, then suddenly you spoke with a British accent to one of your friends.

The female elf named Xenopehelle did smile at what came out of Anton’s mouth, even though, on second thought, what he said was not too much, but the smile did add to his embarrassment.

“Why do you think the undead are unnatural? Some wizards said that they’re part of this world’s nature,” The male sea-elf named Cravonille asked.

“I’m not very knowledgeable about this world’s nature. In my head, there’s the living and the dead, and anyone who goes against that is unnatural, therefore going against nature. I always thought of myself as an open-minded person, and more than likely, my hate was due to the fact that ever since I woke up in this world, the only thing that the undead did was to persecute and conquer. My home village, my country, and even my continent were no more because of them, and who would not think that that is unnatural?” Anton said.

The three sea-elves smiled.

“We can understand your hate because we share it. The Coalition destroyed one of the sea-elven nations near Rendindura, which was still a secret to many people. If the war against the undead were happening near the ocean, we would have joined, but our powers are limited in the land, even as near as the western front of New Drennor,” Barathol said.

“We are still doing everything we can to defend the ocean against the Undead Coalition, but again, we are too few, and the sea is much too large. We do what we can. That was also the reason why we confronted you. We had to make sure that you’re not an agent of the undead coalition. We are almost sure that you’re not, since as we’ve said, we’ve been observing you for hours already, and your behavior is much too…peaceful for you to be a part of the wrathful nature of the undead,” Xenopehelle said.

“I must say, I’m impressed by your stealth abilities. My physical abilities are also great, and normally, I would notice creatures that observe me,” Anton admitted.

“This is the ocean. It’s our territory. Our magic is attuned to our surroundings, and it’s helping us. We know for a fact, though, that if we were enemies and we three fought against you, we would lose. Our magic warned us that you are someone we could not win against, even under the ocean,” Barathol said.

Anton puffed up his chest, lifted his chin, and looked proud.

“I’m a powerful, unofficial Supreme Rank wizard geared toward combat. That’s also the reason why I’m not afraid of exploring the ocean. Although I think I have a bit of Agoraphobia, since I’m still intimidated by the ocean’s large expanse. That was also the reason why I’m swimming slowly.” 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

“What is that word? Agora…?” Cravonille asked.

“It’s fear of extremely large open spaces,” Anton simply said.

“There’s such a thing?!” Xenopehelle exclaimed.

“Well, according to some scholars who study behavior and the mind, there are some fears that existed, and most of them are not bound by logic. Examples are fear of dark places, fear of heights, fear of crawling insects, and more,” Anton said, and the three sea-elves said that it was a fascinating concept, but they still did not understand.

“Are we staying here for the night, or are you going to take me somewhere, like your kingdom, for example?” Anton asked to change the subject.

“I apologize, but we’re not allowed to take outsiders to our Island kingdom,” Barathol said.

Xenopehelle and Cravonille glared at Barathol, and the male sea-elf looked embarrassed. Anton smiled. He understood Barathol’s mistake. In that sentence alone, the male sea-elf informed him that their nation was an island and that they lived above ground instead of deep in the ocean.

“We will be staying here, and you’re welcome to join us. This is one of our hidden camps, and we already have facilities here,” Xenopehelle said, trying to cover Barathol’s mistake.

“You can leave and go home, but there’s no moon tonight, so it’s going to be very dark,” Cravonille added.

Anton decided to stay since even if he returned to New Drennor, he would just be seeking an inn to sleep for the night, and he could just do it here. Barathol showed Anton all the facilities, and in thanks, he shared hot food with the sea elves. Thankfully, they did not have any food taboos. He decided to share food from his inventory with them since it appeared they planned to eat uncooked fish. Anton had not tried sashimi before, and he did not have any desire to do so.

“It’s still too early. What are we going to do in the next few hours?” Anton asked after they had eaten.

“We’ll tell stories. Each one of us will share some of our favorite stories, and since you’re new, we will welcome your stories,” Xenopehelle said.

“I have a window to another dimension, and in that dimension, they had almost perfected their theater craft. Let me show you,” Anton retrieved a white blanket from his inventory and asked the sea-elves to assist him in pinning it to one of the cave’s walls.

He thought of what movie he would watch with the sea-elves. Anton was still in his selfish phase and wanted to choose a movie that he wanted to watch without considering the other audience. He did warn them that the story that he was going to watch was from another dimension, so there were some things that they would see in the movie that probably could not be seen in their world. The three sea-elves looked intrigued and just nodded.

Anton planned to start watching the Toy Story franchise, since he had only seen them once when he was very young, and the world was bright and new, and his parents on Earth were there surrounding him with love and protection. He had forgotten about the films since he had tried his best to forget the experiences that he had with his parents as some form of survival mechanism when he was surviving alone after high school.

He started with Toy Story I and knew that it was a correct decision because while he was watching, he was also remembering the way he felt when his parents on Earth were there beside him. He did not even care about the sea-elves and just focused on the movie.

When the film was done, Xenopehelle, Barathol, and Cravonille kept exclaiming that the film was amazing. They had a lot of questions, and Anton answered some of them. One of them was the concept of animation and movies. Some were the technology they had seen in the film. There were a lot more, and he tried his best to answer the questions since they were eating some snacks. He only stopped when he told the elves that he wanted to watch the second movie, so after that, they watched Toy Story II.

Anton had only seen the first movie from the Toy Story franchise. During the showing of Toy Story II, he shamelessly cried during the scene when Jessie was donated away by her previous owner. The song “When Somebody Loved Me” touched Anton’s heart.

After the film ended, the three sea-elves exclaimed that the Toy Story films were the best thing they had ever seen. Xenopehelle admitted that she cried. They then asked if there were more. Anton admitted that there were more, but he was tired and wanted to rest.

The three sea-elves looked disappointed but allowed Anton to rest. He retrieved his mini-house from his inventory, went inside, and rested.
