Chapter 110: Chapter 110: A Man’s Intuition

"Does your brother also like to give you diamonds and jewelry?" Silas asked casually.

Celia hummed softly and pointed to the jewelry wall. "This entire wall, aside from the huge pile you sent, the rest are all from my brother."

Silas’s gaze swept nonchalantly over the display cases filling the entire wall. Inside the special transparent glass compartments, each gem was stored individually, complete with a certificate, a name, and a date. Besides the ones he had sent, the dates on the others spanned a wide range, from several years to over a decade. The most recent was from a month ago, around the same time as the batch of jewelry Silas had delivered.

He opened the box in his hands and began arranging the diamonds Kian Sterling had bought in Port Sovereign by color. As he placed them in the display, he spoke casually.

"Your brother is unusually good to you."

To be precise, his affection went beyond that of a brother. Silas had never seen any brother dote on his sister so boundlessly.

It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say he’d give her everything.

A man’s unique intuition made him feel a faint sense of unease, but he couldn’t quite put his finger on it.

Suppressing the suspicion in his heart, he carefully placed the diamonds one by one. His gaze fell once more on the sparkling display area. There were nearly three hundred compartments, with about thirty still empty.

He suddenly felt the impulse to fill those empty spaces.

Silas sighed inwardly at his own impatience. He lowered his head and sent a message to Theo Chambers, telling him to search for exquisite jewelry. He analyzed the jewelry on the wall to figure out Celia’s preferences, then relayed that information to Theo as well. Only after giving his instructions did he turn back to the box.

The box was almost empty, with only a photo album left.

"This photo album..." He looked at Celia.

Celia made a sound of acknowledgment. "Those are pictures of me as a child. I brought them back from my brother’s villa in Port Sovereign. You can put it in the safe too."

Hearing that they were photos of Celia, Silas casually flipped it open. The first page showed a chubby baby with fair, tender skin and a plump face. Her features faintly resembled the Celia of today.

Silas froze.

Written on the photo was, ’Our Beloved Daughter’s 100-Day Celebration.’

But he had attended Celia Sterling’s 100-day celebration all those years ago.

Babies all look more or less the same, and he couldn’t tell the difference based on appearance alone. However, he clearly remembered that at the 100-day celebration for the Sterlings’ eldest daughter, Celia had been lying feebly in her swaddling clothes. She was small and frail, with a pale complexion, and her fingers were as thin as the bones in a chicken’s foot.

There was no way she could have been the chubby, healthy, and robust-looking baby in the picture.

This baby and the one at the Sterlings’ 100-day celebration... didn’t seem to be the same child.

Silas silently flipped to the next page.

From birth to three or four years old, the child gradually grew into her features. By the later photos, where a three- or four-year-old girl in a princess dress sat on a swing petting a cat, her sweet, radiant smile for the camera matched the Celia of today.

This chubby baby was undoubtedly Celia.

Then who was the skin-and-bones baby he had seen at the Sterlings’ 100-day celebration all those years ago?

Celia saw that he hadn’t moved and was instead poring over the album. Remembering what Kian had told her, she said softly,

"Silas, don’t look. Hurry up and put it away."

Silas hummed in response, hiding his thoughts. He didn’t dwell on the question that, for now, was meaningless to him, and placed the album in the safe.

「That afternoon, the two of them set out for spicy seafood.」

When Celia came out after changing, Silas had changed his clothes as well. She raised a slight eyebrow. "Chief Assistant Chambers sent these over?"

"Yeah, my other outfit was badly wrinkled." Silas casually picked up the shopping bag Theo Chambers had delivered, took out the crystal flats they had bought on their last shopping trip, and knelt before her. He gently took hold of her bare foot on the carpet and methodically put the shoe on for her. "The roads are uneven there. You should wear flats."

Celia looked at the man gently kneeling before her. "You’re not at all what I imagined."

Silas was still adjusting the heel of her shoe for a better fit. Hearing her, his tone rose. "Hm?"

"Back when we first switched fiancés, the version of you in my head was someone who sipped goji berry tea, was constantly wrapped up in business, and had no private life or any fun..."

Silas was silent for a moment. "I’m not old enough for goji berry tea yet. And actually, I don’t like working at all."

"Mhm, I can tell. You dislike work even more than my brother does. You’ll sneak away for some peace and quiet whenever you can." There was a smile in Celia’s eyes. "You’re also great at finding fun things to do. It’s interesting being with you."

Silas stood up and looked down at her. "Cece, you and I... fit together better than I imagined, too."

"Fit together? Are you talking about how compatible our lifestyles are?" Celia nodded. "I think we’re really in sync."

Silas lowered his gaze and hummed faintly, saying nothing more.

’He was talking about physical compatibility.’

’The discussion from the perfumers’ chat group about the ’body’s code’ popped into his mind.’

’An ultimate experience?’

’Sublime to the finest degree?’

’He and Celia hadn’t gone all the way yet, but just from the few times he’d only scratched the surface, that feeling of every cell in his body coming to a boil could certainly be described that way.’

’But of course, life couldn’t just be about sex.’

’There was also spicy food and distant horizons.’

Two hours later, Silas and Celia were once again at the end of that little food alley, contentedly enjoying a huge meal. They even got some non-spicy grilled seafood to-go for Kian.

"Why don’t you come to my office tomorrow afternoon to try on some rings?" On the way back, Silas chatted with her as they walked. "Or, I could go to your office."

"Come to my office," Celia said, returning the favor. "I know a really authentic outdoor barbecue stall. Time it so you get there right when I get off work tomorrow, and I’ll take you. I’m sure you’ve never been to a place like an outdoor stall, Silas, but it’s actually pretty good. A lot of people from our circle go there to satisfy their cravings."

Silas nodded. "Okay."

「As night fell, Celia couldn’t stay awake any longer and went to bed first.」

Silas hadn’t left yet. He was sitting in the courtyard of the Sterling Villa with Kian Sterling, with beers and barbecue personally made by Elder Gable set out before them.

"It’s late and you’re still not heading back. Planning to stay the night?" Kian had just gotten home. After a busy day, he sat across from Silas with lazy elegance, his expression cool and distant.

"Cece insisted that you try Elder Gable’s cooking," Silas said gently. "She prepared the beers, too, and specifically asked me to keep you company."

"What’s so good about beer? It’s like water." Kian scoffed, but he reached for a can, cracked it open with a HISS, and took a slow sip. "Look at you, Mr. Unattainable. You’ve only been with her for a short while, and you’re already this down-to-earth."

Silas’s amber eyes watched him quietly. "I’ve always been this kind of person. This is just a side of me you’ve never seen, Kade. Likewise, I’ve only just gotten to see another side of you in the past few days."

"Another side of me?" Kian raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"

Silas casually tapped his beer can against Kian’s and got straight to the point.

"Kade, the way you are with Cece... it’s not right."
