My five ghostly husbands-Chapter 215 Accusations
Chapter 215: Chapter 215 Accusations
Ruby and Karl froze.
That cough wasn’t theirs.
Slowly, they both turned their heads toward the sound.
Angeline.
She stood a few feet away, arms crossed, her expression unreadable, but her eyes gleaming with amusement.
Ruby felt her soul leave her body.
Karl stiffened beside her, his earlier smugness evaporating into thin air.
Angeline raised a brow. "So..." she drawled, tapping her fingers against her arm. "What was that about?"
Ruby opened her mouth. No words came out.
Karl looked at Ruby. Ruby looked at Karl.
Silence.
Then Karl, ever the dramatic one, suddenly turned on Ruby, pointing a finger at her.
"She attacked me!" he blurted.
Ruby’s jaw dropped.
Angeline snorted.
"You little—!" Ruby swung at Karl, but he dodged, running behind Angeline for cover.
"Wife, violence isn’t the answer!" Karl cried out.
"Come here and say that again!"
Angeline chuckled, shaking her head. "You two are exhausting."
Then, grinning slightly, she added, "But... it’s cute."
Ruby groaned, covering her face. Karl just smirked proudly.
"So, Angel, what brings you here? Do you want to buy more robes?" Ruby asked, a gentle smile on her lips as she looked at Angeline, brushing her white hair behind her ear.
Angeline smiled back, but there was a spark in her eyes...something secret, something exciting.
"Actually, I’d love to buy more of your robes..." she began, folding her arms, "but today I came with some good news for you."
Ruby’s smile widened, a bit of curiosity showing on her face. "Oh really? What is it?"
Karl perked up with interest too, tilting his head. "Yeah, tell us!"
But Angeline just gave them a mysterious grin. "Hmm... Guess."
Ruby squinted at her. "Don’t make me work for the news—just say it!"
Angeline chuckled, clearly enjoying the suspense. She was just about to open her mouth—
When all of a sudden, there was a loud commotion outside.
The sound of chattering, murmurs, and footsteps rushed toward them like a small wave.
Ruby’s brows furrowed. She turned to look outside her shop, and Karl stood up beside her.
A crowd had started gathering outside..people were pressing forward, some whispering, some frowning and leading the group with a dramatic flair was none other than... Jepsi, dressed in her over-the-top designer robe, surrounded by her sales team.
Angeline turned to glance too, a frown forming on her face.
"Are they... here to shop?" she asked slowly, but even as the words left her lips, she didn’t believe it.
No one in that crowd looked like they were interested in buying anything.
The mood was too tense.
Ruby narrowed her eyes, sensing it too.
Karl stepped closer to her, his eyes narrowing as he whispered, "Something’s off..."
Ruby nodded slowly. Her left eye twitched again.
And she knew whatever good news Angeline had...
Was about to be interrupted by very, very bad drama.
"Woowowowowowwow..."
A wailing voice rose from the front of the crowd, followed by a sob.
Everyone turned as an old witch, hunched slightly with wispy silver hair and a thick shawl, pointed a trembling finger at Ruby’s shop. Her voice cracked as she cried out,
"I am the designer in Jepsi ma’am’s team... and those robes!" she sobbed, clutching her chest like her heart was breaking. "I—I designed them! I poured my soul into every designs! And now—now I see my work... stolen! Displayed like cheap street goods! Sold like it was someone else’s idea!"
Gasps spread through the crowd like wildfire.
Ruby’s heart skipped a beat.
"I didn’t expect this little shop to be using an old witch’s ideas like this," a ghost from the crowd whispered.
"She looks so pitiful..." another one muttered, looking at the elderly witch. "And here we were admiring these robes... I feel disgusted now."
"This is what happens when you let young people chase dreams without discipline," someone else added with a disappointed sigh.
Ruby stood frozen, staring at the woman in disbelief.
What the hell was going on?
She glanced at Karl, whose jaw was slowly tightening, his earlier playfulness now replaced with confusion and anger.
Angeline stepped forward, frowning deeply. "Wait a minute—"
But before she could speak, Jepsi raised her hand, silencing the crowd with a practiced motion. Her tone was sweet, too sweet, like sugar dusting poison.
"Now, now... we don’t want to create chaos," Jepsi said with a kind smile, clearly faking sympathy. "I didn’t want to bring this up like this... But my designer recognized her work here, and we couldn’t ignore it. It’s a matter of justice, really."
Ruby’s chest rose and fell slowly.
Her hands clenched at her sides.
Her robes..her own designs, made with months of trial and error, late nights, and dreams were now being called stolen.
She hadn’t copied anyone. She had poured her heart into each piece.
And yet, right in front of a growing crowd, she was being accused like a criminal.
Karl stepped forward, his face stormy. "That’s a lie! My wife created those designs herself...every single one!"
The crowd began murmuring again, some doubting, some unsure.
Jepsi just sighed fakely, gently patting the old witch’s back as she cried harder.
"This is bad," Angeline whispered under her breath, stepping closer to Ruby.
And Ruby?
She didn’t speak.
Not yet.
She just stared coldly at Jepsi, her face unreadable.
But inside her...
Something was beginning to burn.
The old witch wiped her tears with her long sleeves, her voice trembling as she looked at the crowd with a broken expression.
"I-I kept all my design drafts safely in my workshop..." she sniffled, her voice shaking. "But one day, they went missing. I thought I had just misplaced them... until today." freēwēbηovel.c૦m
She looked up at Ruby’s shop, her hand clutching her chest as if in physical pain.
"I never expected that the one who stole them would be bold enough to sell them in broad daylight. To turn my hard work into her own success..."
She shook her head slowly, eyes glistening with tears. "I’m just an old witch. I’ve spent my life sewing, designing... I don’t have many years left. But I always hoped someone younger would carry the spirit of creation with honesty and pride."
Then she looked at Ruby, her voice rising with emotion.
"But you..." she whispered like a curse, "...you snatched my designs... my dreams... and turned them into gold for yourself. How could you do this to someone like me?!"
A few people in the crowd gasped again.
"I can’t believe this..."
"She stole from an elder?"
"That’s disgusting..."
