My five ghostly husbands-Chapter 228 We’re your in-laws
Chapter 228: Chapter 228 We’re your in-laws
Today, Ruby had to go to the set. She had editing work lined up, and there was something else in her mind too...she wanted to ask Director Sylvia if there were any small roles open. If there was even the tiniest chance... maybe Karl could finally get a taste of real acting life. Some real experience on set.
As she entered, the familiar sound of camera clicks, crew voices, and light chatter filled the air.
Director Sylvia assistant spotted her first and smiled, standing near the monitor. "You’re here!"
"Yeah," Ruby replied with a small nod, walking in confidently. She greeted a few of the other crew members—some waved back, some were too busy to notice but it didn’t bother her. She was here to work.
She walked over to the editing corner where Vera was already waiting.
"Let’s get started," Ruby said calmly, sitting beside her.
The two of them began checking through the footage...cutting, arranging, adjusting colors and sound.
Ruby worked smoothly, fingers clicking across the keyboard, eyes focused on the screen.
After a few solid hours of editing with Vera, cutting clips, fixing the audio, and adjusting timing. Ruby leaned back in her chair and stretched her arms with a soft sigh. Her stomach let out a quiet growl.
Thankfully, the set had arranged food for the crew.
She walked over to the food area, grabbed a plate, and sat down under a shaded corner of the set. The food wasn’t bad...it was warm and had a decent taste but still, nothing compared to a fresh, home-cooked meal.
Next time, I’ll pack something... she thought, chewing slowly.
Once done, she returned to the set and sat quietly near the monitors, watching the ongoing shooting. The camera moved smoothly, the actors did their parts again and again, and the crew worked in silence, adjusting lights and angles.
It was a world that kept moving...even if no one noticed you.
"Enjoying?" a voice asked gently from beside her.
Ruby turned and saw Director Sylvia standing there, her arms crossed loosely, a small smile resting on her lips.
"Yeah," Ruby replied with a soft smile. "It’s always nice to just watch for a while... especially after editing all morning."
Sylvia chuckled. "You’re quick. Vera was praising your sense of timing."
Ruby smiled at the compliment. "Thank you. I just... enjoy telling stories, I guess. Even in cuts and frames."
Sylvia nodded, her gaze drifting back toward the camera. For a moment, they both just watched in silence.
Then Ruby took a breath and spoke gently, "By the way... if there’s ever any small role or even background appearance where you need someone—feel free to ask me."
Sylvia turned to her, curious. "You act?"
"Not me," Ruby said with a light laugh. "But I know someone who’s really eager to learn. No experience yet, but he’s full of interest. Just needs a start... some real exposure."
Sylvia raised her eyebrows thoughtfully, "I’ll keep that in mind. We often need fresh faces for short roles. If they’re serious, we can try them out."
Ruby nodded, feeling a tiny sense of hope inside.
"Thank you," she said, eyes calm but grateful.
Sylvia gave her a small smile before walking away, already lost in the next scene.
Ruby looked back at the set again, this time with a little more spark in her eyes.
Maybe today really was a good day to come.
After the shooting wrapped up, Ruby gathered her things and was ready to leave. Her feet were a little sore, and all she could think about was going home and having something warm to drink.
But just as she stepped outside the set gates, she stopped in her tracks.
A group of handsome ghosts had gathered around her...all dressed neatly, standing like polite gentlemen, their eyes full of excitement.
Ruby blinked, clearly not expecting this kind of attention. "W-What..."
One of the pretty ghosts stepped forward with a soft smile. "Miss Ruby!"
"Yes?" she replied, still a bit confused. "Do you guys need something?"
She took a deep breath, calming her nerves, and gave a polite smile.
"Yes, Miss Ruby!" one of them said excitedly, clapping his hands together. "We heard you sell robes!"
"We didn’t get time during the fair," another added quickly. "We’ve been looking for you ever since!"
Ruby’s eyes softened, her heart feeling unexpectedly warm.
Her bussiness is blooming.
She gave them a proud little smile. "Of course! I’d love to sell them to you." freēnovelkiss.com
The group instantly lit up like kids in a candy shop.
"But," she added gently, "I’m still setting up my new company... so I don’t have the full collection ready yet."
A small wave of disappointment passed through the group.
"But once it’s ready," she continued, "I’ll let you all see them first. I’ll even give you some special ones that aren’t in the market yet."
Their eyes widened, and the energy returned at once.
"Really?! Thank you, Miss Ruby!" they said together, some bowing slightly in gratitude.
She smiled as they walked off happily, chatting among themselves.
Ruby stood there for a second, watching them.
And then, she walked away, heading back home.
It was already late afternoon.
On the way, she ran into Pillu, exchanged a few casual words, and continued walking...only to stop in surprise at the sight of unfamiliar faces standing at her door.
Three unfamiliar people were standing right outside her house.
The first was a tall woman with icy blue eyes and long dark hair tied back tight, her arms crossed and lips pressed into a thin line. Beside her stood a ghost... dark eyes, with a calm, cold smile that felt more like a warning than a greeting.
And then there was the third, his long, dark curls falling over a fair face, blue eyes wide and overly dramatic as he spotted her.
"You’re back," the woman said first. "We’re your in-laws."
Ruby didn’t move. Her eyes flicked across their faces once...calm, unreadable.
The Ghost Danny stepped forward slightly. "I’m Karl’s father," he said in a smooth tone. "It’s been a long time. We thought it was time for a proper visit."
