My five ghostly husbands-Chapter 239 Incident
Chapter 239: Chapter 239 Incident
"899 gems, ma’am," the salesperson said politely.
Without flinching, Ruby opened her bag and counted the full amount, placing the smooth gem pieces gently on the counter.
The witch at the desk nodded with quiet respect, surprised by how calmly she paid the entire sum without hesitation.
Not far from them, the same ghost in purple who had been eyeing Ruby earlier, lounging near the reception when she first walked in, peeked around the corner again.
His eyes widened.
He leaned forward slightly, blinking in disbelief. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
She’s rich?
The confident way she stood... the full payment without blinking... the way she carried herself—it didn’t match the "countryside witch" image he had imagined.
He took a step closer, curiosity flickering in his eyes.
But before he could go further, his friend tugged on his sleeve from behind, whispering something in his ear.
The ghost hesitated, looked back once more at Ruby and then turned away.
Ruby didn’t even notice.
Her focus was on the papers in front of her.
"Ma’am, when would you like the car delivered?" the salesperson asked, placing a thin stack of forms on the table.
Ruby glanced up. "Can’t I take it today?"
The witch smiled gently and shook her head. "I’m afraid not. What you tested was just the display model. We’ll prepare a fresh one for you with your name registered. It will take one to two days."
She slid a few documents toward Ruby. "Here are your purchase papers and owner ID."
Ruby nodded calmly, taking the documents and tucking them safely into her bag.
"Alright," she said, her voice even.
She didn’t mind waiting. Ruby glanced around the showroom once more.
There was still time left in the day.
And after everything, she wouldn’t mind exploring the city a little.
Just then, Milo tugged gently at her sleeve, his voice small.
"Wife... I want to go to the washroom..." he mumbled, almost like he was embarrassed to say it in front of everyone.
Ruby nodded right away and looked toward the salesperson. "Excuse me, could you show us where the washroom is?"
The witch smiled and gave a small bow. "Of course, ma’am. Please follow me."
Before heading off, Ruby turned slightly to the others. Julian, Karl, and Adrian were still standing near the resting area.
"Wait here," she said simply. "We’ll be back in a few minutes."
Julian nodded gently and walked over to take a seat on the elegant cushioned bench. Adrian stood beside him silently, arms crossed, while Karl loudly announced, "If you’re not back in ten minutes, I’ll assume the city stole you."
Ruby didn’t respond to his drama. She just gave him a pointed look and then followed the salesperson with Milo walking quietly beside her, holding the edge of her sleeve like a child trying not to get lost.
Not far from the resting area, a ghost in a deep purple robe sat watching.
He had seen it all, how Ruby paid in full, how the showroom staff treated her with respect, and how she walked with quiet confidence like she owned the city. And beside her... were four countryside ghosts?
He narrowed his eyes.
She doesn’t belong with them... he thought bitterly. They don’t deserve someone like her.
His gaze shifted to the resting area where Julian was sitting quietly, his head slightly lowered, soft hair brushing his cheek. He looked too gentle. Too quiet. Too out of place in a place like this.
The ghost’s jaw tightened.
Then his eyes dropped to his hand, the only expensive thing he had left. A gold ring with a small blue crystal. It wasn’t much... but it was the only thing he had that still gleamed.
He bit his lip.
And then... slowly stood up.
He walked toward them, casual and slow.
Julian didn’t notice, his eyes were lost in thought, fingers lightly tapping his bag that rested beside him.
The ghost stopped just a step behind the bench.
No one was looking.
And with one slight movement, he leaned forward, pretending to check his robe hem and in that second, he slipped the ring quietly into Julian’s small side pouch, the one tied to the outer strap.
It was done in a blink.
He straightened, glanced around, and walked off like nothing happened.
But inside, he was smirking.
Karl and Adrian were standing near the bench when the ghost in the purple robe passed by.
But neither of them noticed him.
Because at that exact moment, Karl was leaning in, whispering something secretive into Adrian’s ear, his voice low and full of excitement.
"...I’m telling you, we should build a little stage at home. A real one. I’ll perform—The Tale of the Glorious Husband! You’ll see. The crowd will cry!"
Adrian didn’t even blink. He stared ahead, unmoved.
But Karl kept whispering.
"Maybe you can play the villain. You already have the cold face. You’d be perfect."
Adrian slowly turned his head, giving him a long, blank look.
Karl grinned.
They were too caught up in their own weird whisper-war to see anything.
Meanwhile, Julian sat a little apart from the others, hands folded over his stomach. A quiet strain tightened his features as he wrestled with a dull, persistent ache. Discomfort gnawed at him, pulling his focus entirely inward.
He didn’t see the ghost either.
Didn’t feel the gentle tug as something was slipped into his bag.
He just sat still, trying to breathe through the discomfort, unaware that someone had just planted a problem right beside him.
And the purple-robed ghost walked away without a sound, his hands behind his back, his expression smooth.
Satisfied.

The ghost in the purple robe—Eshu walked back to the resting area, where his two friends were lounging with drinks in hand, chatting and watching people come and go.
One of them glanced up as Eshu approached.
"Hey, where have you been going?" he asked casually, tilting his head.
Eshu gave a relaxed smile and sat down gracefully beside them. "Oh, nothing. Just looking around the place," he said smoothly, crossing one leg over the other like nothing in the world was out of place.
His tone was calm. Composed.
But the moment he settled in, his other friend narrowed his eyes.
"Wait... oh my goodness!" the friend gasped, leaning forward. "Where’s your favorite ring, Eshu?!"
