My five ghostly husbands-Chapter 241 Accusations
Chapter 241: Chapter 241 Accusations
Then, one of them turned toward Julian, who was still seated, his arms gently folded over his stomach. He looked up slowly, sensing the air had changed.
"Sir," the staff member said, "we’re terribly sorry, but we’re checking everyone’s bags today. A customer reported something missing."
Julian blinked. "I... I didn’t see anything."
"It’s just a formality. Could we see your bag, please?"
Julian hesitated for a second. Something about this felt wrong.
But he quietly untied the small side pouch from his belt...the one he always carried with him. He handed it over carefully.
The staff member opened it—
And inside, among a folded handkerchief and a few coins was a ring.
A gold ring.
With a blue crystal.
The staff member stared at it. The other one stepped closer.
And the room, once full of whispers, fell completely silent.
Julian blinked at the sight of it, confused. "That’s not mine," he said softly, his brows slowly drawing together.
But no one said anything yet.
And across the room... Eshu slowly turned, eyes wide.
The moment the staff pulled out the ring, a sharp gasp echoed across the showroom.
Eshu had been watching from a distance, waiting for this exact moment but still, he ran toward them, eyes wide with fake shock.
"That’s my ring!" he shouted, his voice loud enough to turn every head in the showroom. "That’s it!"
His friends rushed behind him.
Eshu pushed through the small crowd and stopped in front of the staff, staring at the ring in their hands as if it had broken his heart.
"Th-that’s my ring..." he breathed out again, covering his mouth. "My family gave that to me when I came of age... I’ve worn it for years...!"
The staff looked between him and Julian, unsure.
Julian sat frozen, pale and quiet, clearly confused. His lips parted slightly, but no words came out.
And then—
Eshu turned to Julian.
"You!" he said, voice trembling...not with real pain, but with carefully practiced anger. "Why... why would you take it?! I didn’t even talk to you! Did you see it on me and decide you wanted it?!"
Julian’s eyes widened. "I didn’t—"
"I was sitting just a few seats away," Eshu went on, stepping closer. "You must’ve taken it when I went to the front desk, didn’t you? When I wasn’t looking!"
"That’s not true..." Julian’s voice cracked.
"You’re rich already, aren’t you? Traveling with that pretty witch, buying cars like it’s nothing but still, that wasn’t enough?! You had to steal from others?!"
Julian’s hands trembled in his lap, his voice caught in his throat.
And behind them, the whole showroom watched in silent judgment...
Julian’s lips trembled, his fingers twisting tightly in his robe as he stared at the ring—at something he’d never seen before until now.
But before he could even speak again, Karl stepped in front of him like a shield.
"Don’t you dare accuse my brother like that!" Karl snapped, voice rising, his eyes blazing with anger. "Julian would never steal anything! Do you even know who he is?! He doesn’t care about your stupid ring!"
People flinched at Karl’s voice, but Eshu didn’t.
He looked offended. Calm. Like the victim.
"And who are you supposed to be?" Eshu said coldly. "Another countryside thief?"
"You think you’re better because you wear fancy robes and sit like a peacock?" Karl shot back. "At least we don’t fake crying like a child to trap someone else."
Before things could escalate more, Adrian stepped forward, standing between Karl and Eshu, his voice low and sharp.
"Julian didn’t take your ring," he said firmly, eyes like cold steel. "We’ve been with him the whole time. He hasn’t moved from that seat. Not once."
Eshu placed a hand on his chest. "I’m just asking for justice. If it’s not him, then explain how my ring ended up in his bag."
The words sliced through the room.
Eyes turned toward Julian again.
The staff stood stiff, unsure who to believe.
And even though Karl’s voice cracked from yelling, and Adrian’s words were calm and certain...
No one believed them.
They didn’t look rich. They didn’t look important.
And Julian, quiet and trembling, looked just guilty enough to make people assume the worst.
The silence around them was cruel. Just as the silence grew unbearable, soft footsteps echoed through the floor.
Ruby entered the showroom with Milo trailing behind her.
The moment she stepped into the open, everyone turned.
And Julian looked up with teary, trembling eyes, only for them to soften the second they landed on her. His shoulders dropped as if her presence alone pulled him back from drowning.
"What’s going on here?" Ruby asked quietly, her tone calm but everyone could feel the weight behind her words.
No one dared speak first.
It was Eshu who turned around, eyes lighting up with false sorrow. "Miss... I didn’t want to disturb your day, but... someone in your group has been caught with my missing ring."
Ruby’s gaze narrowed slightly, then shifted to the ring in the staff member’s hand.
Then to Julian.
Then back to Eshu.
"I see," she said flatly.
Karl opened his mouth to explain, but Ruby raised a hand to stop him.
She stepped closer to Eshu, eyes cool and expression unreadable.
"You lost your ring," she said softly. "And now you’ve found it."
"Yes... in his bag." Eshu nodded toward Julian.
Ruby tilted her head. "And you’re saying you have no idea how it got there?"
"None." Eshu looked so innocent.
Ruby’s red eyes stared into him like glass. "Then how are you so sure it’s yours?"
Eshu blinked.
"Unless... you put it there yourself."
Gasps echoed softly in the room.
Eshu laughed awkwardly. "Why would I do that?"
"You tell me," Ruby said. "Because if someone embarrassed you, would you try to make them look like a thief? Or is there another reason?"
Eshu flinched.
And then he snapped.
"I just wanted... a chance," he said suddenly, voice rising. "You walked in here, powerful and beautiful... treating them like they were your equals—like they were good enough for you!"
Silence.
Every head turned.
Eshu stepped forward slightly, chest heaving.
"You’re smart. You’re rich. And still, you walk beside them." He spat the word like it hurt. "I wanted a moment to show you what real class looks like."
Ruby’s eyes darkened. "And what do you want now?"
Eshu took a deep breath, voice trembling with desperation.
"I want you to marry me."
Gasps broke across the room like ripples in water.
Even the staff froze.
Julian looked like he couldn’t breathe.
Karl’s jaw dropped.
Milo’s mouth opened wide..
Only Adrian remained perfectly still but his fingers slowly curled into a fist.
