My five ghostly husbands-Chapter 298 Let them carry swords. I carry vision
Chapter 298: Chapter 298 Let them carry swords. I carry vision
One of the villagers, a tall, muscular ghost with a jagged scar across his chin, stepped forward, his patience clearly worn thin. His eyes flared with hostility as he pointed a long, rusted sword at them, the metal catching the sunlight with a dangerous gleam.
"You go away!!!" he shouted, his voice booming through the crowd. "Outsiders like you bring nothing but lies and trouble!"
Ruby’s breath caught as her eyes widened, instinctively stepping back. The sword was real. The threat was real. Julian, who had been standing quietly at her side, immediately grabbed her arm and pulled her slightly behind him, his own hand trembling.
"Please—there’s no need for violence," Ruby said calmly, trying to keep her voice steady despite the rising panic in her chest. But the air was thick with tension, and the villagers were clearly not ready to listen.
Julian leaned closer to her ear and whispered shakily, "Wife... they’re serious... maybe we should go for now..." His grip on her tightened protectively, his eyes darting between the angry faces and the sharp blade in front of them.
"We are leaving... we’re leaving, no need to be violent," Ruby said, raising her hands slightly as a sign of peace. She gently grabbed Julian’s hand and turned away, leading him quickly back to the car as the villagers still shouted behind them. Her heartbeat was fast, but she didn’t let it show on her face.
Once they were back inside, she shut the door, exhaled deeply, and started the car. As they rose into the sky, Ruby’s eyes fixed ahead, trying to process everything.
Julian stayed quiet for a while, glancing nervously down at the village disappearing beneath them. "That was... intense," he finally said.
Ruby sighed heavily. "I didn’t expect them to be so hostile. They weren’t even ready to listen. And the rumours... they’re not wrong. They really do carry weapons openly."
"Yeah... that sword was terrifying," Julian muttered, pressing his hand against his chest as if calming his heart. "Thank goodness we got away in time. I was ready to faint if that guy came one step closer."
Ruby glanced at him and managed a tired smile. "You still stood beside me. You didn’t run away."
"Of course not," he said quickly. "You’re my wife. Even if I’m scared, I won’t leave your side."
Her heart softened a little at that.
After a moment of silence, Julian looked out the window. "Though... their village is really pretty. I’ve never seen grass that shade of green and those trees... they looked magical."
"Yeah," Ruby agreed, her tone a little wistful. "Unlike our desert village. Ours looks like it’s always thirsty."
Julian chuckled lightly. "Well, maybe one day, if they open up again, you can make a deal with them. But for now... let’s just go somewhere peaceful."
Ruby nodded, the wind brushing past their car as they floated above clouds that shimmered under the sun. "Somewhere peaceful sounds perfect right now."
"Haha," Julian laughed lightly, leaning against the car window. "So, wife... are we going back home now?" he asked, watching the trees shrink beneath the clouds.
"Nope!" Ruby replied without hesitation, her eyes fixed on the sky road ahead. "After such a long and stressful trip, I refuse to return empty-handed. I didn’t come all this way just to be chased out. I’ll try again."
Julian blinked, surprised. "Wife... although it breaks my heart to say this... even if they did agree, the rainy days are only half a month away. Look at the weather—wind’s already picking up these days. Won’t it be too late to launch something now?"
Ruby rolled her eyes. "Who said I’m selling raincoats? That’s not my plan at all," she said, flicking her hair back. "I just wanted to use that special fabricated fabric for rainy season robes and maybe shoes made of the same material."
"Shoes?" Julian turned to her with wide eyes, shocked. "You’re going to make shoes out of that fabric too?"
"Yeah, why not?" she said smugly. "Don’t look at me like that! I also want to make gloves, hand covers, and a few other things. Then... I’ll expand the company. I think I should buy the land behind our office."
Julian stared at her, almost speechless. "Wife... how rich do you plan to become? Aren’t you already earning well? Why do you want to make yourself even busier?"
Ruby smiled but her tone was calm and serious. "Julian, the world moves fast. Trends change before you know it. If I don’t keep up, we’ll lose more than we gain. The robes I designed—they’re still selling, yes but slowly, they’re becoming common. Others are starting to copy too. I have to stay ahead."
Julian looked at her silently for a moment, and then a small proud smile formed on his lips. "You’re amazing, wife... really."
Ruby chuckled. "Of course I am. Sit tight. We’re not done yet."
She glanced at Julian as he leaned back, yawning.
’He doesn’t know how much this means to me. Not just as a business move. It’s about control over my future... stability for all of us. I can’t rely on luck or trends to keep our roof standing. What happened with Karl nearly shattered me. I need to make sure no matter what happens...injury, storms, enemies we’ll have the money and strength to protect each other.’
Her grip on the wheel tightened a little.
’Even if Dreadmire refuses again, I’ll find another way. Maybe talk to someone younger in the village. Someone who’s tired of fear. There’s always someone willing to take a risk when you show them a bigger dream.’ freёnovelkiss.com
She took a breath and pressed the accelerator, a quiet fire in her heart.
’Let them carry swords. I carry vision.’
After reaching back to the inn, Ruby and Julian sat down for a simple but warm lunch. The food was quiet, both lost in thoughts after the tension earlier. Julian stirred his bowl slowly and then looked up at Ruby with soft eyes.
"I miss Brother Adi and others..." he said with a small pout.
Ruby smiled, setting her spoon down. "Why not call them?"
His eyes lit up instantly. "Can we?"
"Yeah, of course," she chuckled, wiping her hands with a napkin. "Let’s finish our lunch, then we’ll go to our room and call them."
Julian beamed like a little boy offered his favorite treat. "Yay! I hope Karl’s not sulking again... and I wonder what Milo’s doing right now."
