My Fortune-Blessed Leading Lady-Chapter 1072 - 777: Bo Zhi 28_2
Lego pieces were scattered on the floor, and he bent down to hold Xunxun in his arms, suddenly lifting him up. Xunxun exclaimed in surprise, then immediately quieted down in Bo Zhi’s embrace.
His small face was blushing, watching Bo Zhi while holding back a smile, his big eyes full of joy.
"Uncle Bo, this is fun."
Bo Zhi smiled but said nothing, quietly observing the child in front of him. Xunxun felt a bit uneasy under his gaze, staring for a while before slowly asking, "Uncle Bo, why did you suddenly pick me up? Is it because you think I’m too cute and couldn’t resist?"
So narcissistic?
Bo Zhi chuckled, patting his head, "Xunxun, if I told you I was your dad, would you believe me?"
He had considered every possible reaction Xunxun might have, except the one where Xunxun would be stunned, then calmly say, "Uncle Bo, you don’t have to comfort me. I know once you married my mom, you became my dad;
I acknowledge that, and Xunxun is very happy to have you as a dad taking care of me and mom. Whether you’re my biological father or not, it doesn’t really matter that much;
I’m just curious, if that person truly loved mom, why didn’t they cherish her?
Mom actually had a hard time alone. Our family was really poor before, almost unable to put food on the table, but mom never gave up on us and grandpa."
Even though he’s young, he’s mature for his age.
He can see through many things, and with Aunt Li often whispering in his ear that mom has it tough, telling him to treat her well when he grows up, he’s become aware.
Bo Zhi sighed, "Xunxun, I’m your father not because your mom married me and I became your dad, but because I have always been your father."
Xunxun was stunned, and then stared intently at Bo Zhi, as if trying to discern some truth from his eyes. He was quietly heartbreaking.
He stared blankly.
Afraid to blink.
Bo Zhi felt a pang in his heart, holding the child tighter, sighing, not knowing what to say to ease the awkwardness of the moment.
But Xunxun was clearly in a bad mood now. After a while, he pushed Bo Zhi away, then opened the door to the toy room, heading straight upstairs to find Mou Wen and ask for the truth.
He needed to find out what the real relationship is between Bo Zhi and him, whether or not Bo Zhi was indeed his father.
Bo Zhi sat in the toy room, motionless, waiting for his son to come down after learning the truth.
Xunxun is not a timid child; on the contrary, he is extremely opinionated, knowing exactly what he will accept and what he won’t.
He knows well where the boundaries are as a child, what is acceptable and what is not.
He won’t throw a tantrum with Mou Wen; he’ll just talk calmly. It doesn’t seem like how a child would handle issues, but Xunxun is such a considerate child that it hurts.
Mou Wen heard the door and thought Bo Zhi had returned. Her body stiffened, turning around stiffly, and she was stunned for a while upon seeing it was her son.
"Xunxun?"
Xunxun’s eyes were filled with a crystalline mist.
He seemed on the verge of tears, startling Mou Wen. She quickly approached him and pulled him into her arms, "What’s wrong, Xunxun? What happened?"
Xunxun clutched Mou Wen’s clothes, burying his face in her embrace, silently sobbing for a few seconds, then lifted his eyes to look at Mou Wen’s face, "Mom, Xunxun wants to ask you a question."
His voice still carried a hint of a sob, looking like he desperately needed someone to bring him the best of the world. How could anyone refuse his question?
Mou Wen nodded, "Go ahead, Xunxun."
Xunxun nodded, then stuttered out his intention, "Mom, is Uncle Bo Xunxun’s dad?"
Mou Wen’s body stiffened, not daring to meet Xunxun’s eyes. She didn’t know how to explain it, or why Xunxun was suddenly asking this question.
Her thoughts instinctively went to Bo Zhi, feeling an anger rising, "Xunxun, did Bo Zhi say something to you?"
Xunxun shook his head, "He didn’t say anything, Mom, just tell me, is he?"
Mou Wen initially wanted to say no, but seeing Xunxun’s determined gaze, she nodded, acknowledging the truth of the news.
Xunxun didn’t know why, but he felt a heavy relief, also feeling deceived. He was very sad, coming out of Mou Wen’s embrace, quietly walking away without saying a word.
Mou Wen, seeing his state, became anxious, reaching out to grab him, "Xunxun, listen to Mom, I didn’t mean to lie to you, because..."
