My Goalkeeping System-Chapter 558: What It Means To Them

The fans were on the edge of their seats, the opposition fans could feel their hearts slowly sinking and the neutrals were watching in great anticipation. The moment for Unique FC to regain their lead was finally here.

However, just moments before Mateo took that shot, a desperate Sentes had already dashed out as a last resort and because Mateo placed the shot low, the ball ended up hitting his outstretched hand before flying off to the side, rolling past the line for a corner kick.

"And Sentes with a marvellous save to deny Mateo! Oh, that could have been a wonderful goal."

After pulling off that save, Sentes was in a very heightened mood. He patted his chest and yelled at his teammates to keep their spirits up and their eyes open.

The fans couldn't help but sigh in disappointment. This was the second time that Mateo was wasting a very good chance.

His presence had no doubt brought a huge change to how Unique FC were playing now but if he was going to keep missing chances like that, then the fans were sure going to get frustrated.

Mateo had no time to dwell much on missing a chance like that as he had to quickly make his way to the corner spot to take the corner kick.

Watching his brother jogging toward the corner spot, Emma held her chin in thought, a puzzled expression on her face.

"Don't tell me, he's really forgotten how to shoot."

This was just a normal cup match against a second division side. Normally, it shouldn't really matter much as Unique FC should have been able to make quick work of this fixture a long time ago.

Unfortunately, the current situation had the fans so tense that they felt like they were watching their country battling in a World Cup final.

The adults sitting in front of the television were praying dearly in their hearts that Unique FC would be able to see this through and make it to the final. The children, on the other hand, had their heads buried in their seats, hoping that everything would be over when they raised their heads. Obviously, they were hoping that Unique FC would win.

Sofia had initially tuned into the match just to pass the time as she had nothing else to do, but right now she couldn't help but feel tense. This was evident by how much she was stuffing her face with the snacks in front of her.

This was how much this trophy, which some people might not consider much, meant to them. If they could get through this stage it would mean that they would be one step closer to getting their first trophy in years.

This was a match that had to be won; the Unique FC players could feel the pressure, but they had to remain calm.

Staring at the ball right in front of him, Mateo took two steps backwards before he quickly closed up on the ball and sent it flying in.

"Mateo, send the ball in. Can Unique FC capitalise on this set pie…Gregory with a header!"

That was quite a good header, and the youngster had to jump quite high to get to it ahead of the players ahead of him.

Unfortunately, the ball ended up flying straight into the hands of Sentes who had no problem claiming it.

"Good effort, but it's straight at the goalkeeper."

"I see he's still looking for that hat trick," Steve commented. "He has to try harder if he wants to get it, I feel like it won't be long now before he gets subbed off."

Steve's words were like a prophecy as Gregory was subbed off soon afterwards. Given his young age, he shouldn't have played long to begin with.

Norman only decided to give him some more minutes as the youngster assured him that he could still hang on.

However, he really had to go now as his fatigue was beginning to show. The rapid burst of speed he showed earlier was no longer anywhere to be found and his touches were starting to get sloppy, losing the ball a few times.

That said, the youngster had contributed quite a lot in this match and that was the reason he received a very loud standing ovation as he walked toward the bench. Two of Unique FC's three goals tonight came from him so this was well deserved.

"No matter what happens tonight, this kid will be remembered by the fans for what he has done today for a long time."

Gregory was replaced by Fred who was relieved that he could at least make a few minutes of appearance tonight.

Throughout the remaining minutes of the first half of extra time, Norlin FC didn't get any chance to cause any serious trouble.

Although Lopez had a few good moments here and there, he wasn't really able to cause any serious damage as he had been doing earlier before Minino entered the pitch.

Be it speed, aggressiveness or unpredictability, Minino was a force to be reckoned and with him always keeping a close watch, the youngster wasn't able to cause much trouble.

Unique FC on the other hand, had a much better game.

They created a lot of chances so they naturally had more opportunities to score.

Unfortunately, most of Mateo's through balls were cleared by the ever-vigilant Sentes before the intended party could get to them.

With their team currently unable to properly retaliate against Unique FC, Sentes had to stop sticking too closely to his goal line to take care of most of the problems Mateo's through balls would cause.

Of course, he also made sure not to stray too far from his goal line and give Unique FC a loophole to exploit.

<He thinks he's being careful but this will cost him sooner or later>

The referee had just announced that there would be one minute of added time when a Norlin FC player lost the ball under Minino's pressing just about thirty yards away from their goalpost.

"Good challenge from Minino to win the ball back."

The midfielder wasted no time sending the ball rolling to Merino, who was free down the right as he wasn't in a dangerous position yet.

However, Merino would argue that this was a dangerous enough position at the moment because as soon as he received the ball, he saw Sentes rushing toward his goalpost.

The winger wasted no time and quickly pushed the ball forward a little before he quickly closed up on it and fired it straight toward the goalpost.

Merino is trying to capitalise on Sentes being far off his goal line. Can he put it away?!"

Sentes really did try his best but no matter how fast or how high he jumped, he wasn't even able to get the tip of his gloves on the ball. He only felt the wind brush past him as the ball fell into the goalpost and bounced on the ground before hitting the net roofing.

He was now lying on the ground, the rim of his eyes turning slightly red.

It was unfortunate, but the advantage was now in the hands of their opponent with just fifteen minutes left.
