My Goddess is Good at Pretending-Chapter 594: Violators of Their Laws
The Slave Market was an organization of unspeakable cruelty that masked their purpose in the name of uprightness and integrity to uphold the ’justice’ bestowed by the world’s laws. In truth, they had long exploited the system to gain the benefit of personal interest.
The unfortunate, whether it was the falsely accused ones or the authentic criminals, would be captured and sold as if they were mere commodities.
The nearest Slave Market’s headquarters was only four hundred kilometers away. In a middle-class city, Ella and the Elysion Church’s entourage went straight to the special district where the structured crimes nested.
It was a labyrinth of iron cages filled with varied slaves, surrounded by many prison buildings. Amidst this squalor, two radiant figures led their entourage to enter that wretched market.
Ella as the high priestess wore her holy priestess robes that shimmered with a faint holy light. She led the way, held her Golden Khakkhara tightly, and surveyed her surroundings with caution.
Next to Ella walked the Holy Saintess Bhaenera. Her expression was gentle yet firm, but they were here on a mission, not just of mercy, but of righteous retribution.
The Slave Market wrongfully captured and enslaved their people. They had come to redeem these souls, but their hearts burned with a deeper desire. They had to punish those who had orchestrated these schemes against the faithful servants of the Supreme Goddess.
The city’s special district was filled with hushed whispers as the two holy figures, escorted by an elite holy knight squad, approached the Slave Market.
Everyone knew that the Magic Tower, the mage organization under the Elysion Church, recently committed a grave sin by attempting to summon the forbidden. Many hunters went to hunt and catch the sinners.
The Wind Tower and Earth Tower were destroyed as a result, and dozens of magic experts, including the two tower masters, lost their rights as a person.
A grotesque man, bloated with greed and draped in gaudy jewels, sneered at the arrival of the Holy Chruch’s people. He blocked the road despite knowing the newly arrived entourage’s identity and status.
"What brings the holy ones to my humble establishment?" The market overseer asked with mock reverence, bowing slightly. His eyes glinted with malice. "Looking to purchase some slaves and servants for your church, perhaps? You came at the right time! We just got a newly arrived batch of goods. They are all good-looking and possess good traits."
"You, fkin donkin..." One of the Magic Tower’s elders almost couldn’t hold back his anger, but he didn’t dare to move while the high priestess had yet to say anything.
Ella narrowed her eyes. "We are here to redeem the believers who were falsely accused and captured."
She paused for a moment, then added with a sharp voice. "We know your and the heretics’ intention. Release our people, and we shall offer you something far greater than anything you could hope to obtain from us."
The market overseer chuckled, tapping his bloated belly as if it were truly amusing. "Keke, and what might that be, high priestess? You should already know about the rules and how the world operates. This task relies on bucks, not on empty promises."
"You’re not qualified to know more than necessary. Bring us to those old elders. I know they’re here, brewing something they shouldn’t." Ella shook her head, and at the same time, the holy knights behind her put their hands on their sword’s hilt.
The market guards also readied themselves for the worst, but the market overseer soon clasped his hands with a friendly smile. "This way, please. But, you sure came with a lot of bodyguards. They aren’t allowed to enter further to the main building, and I hope you understand."
"Hm, I won’t care if they’re proven guilty, but if they’re innocent, don’t think we’ll let you off easy. Let’s hope the number of our people you captured matches, not one less." Bhae spoke in a whisper-like voice, but it was loud enough for the market overseer to hear.
Ella had already briefed about their Supreme Goddess’ plan before they arrived at this place, and whatever the result, they would make the Slave Market and the ones who orchestrated this incident pay for their sins.
---
A few moments later, the holy knights could only wait outside the main building. They neutralized the entrance to prevent any third-party interference and possible dangers from outside.
Only the high priestess, holy saintess, the Magic Tower’s elders, and the honorable El-Fai Merchant Group’s higher-ups entered to meet the captured mages and the Slave Market’s officials.
"..." Ella looked at the Magic Tower’s elders and Saintess Bhae. The number of the captured mages was not the same as what was reported.
The ones presented by the Slave Market’s officials were eighty-three people, which was almost twice as many as the captured magic experts in the Wind Tower and the Earth Tower.
"Your grace, half of them are not our people." One of the elders informed the high priestess with a whisper-like voice.
"Alright. Those who have the Supreme Goddess in their hearts deserve to be saved because they are the lost souls who are caught amid chaos caused by the greedy heretics." Ella nodded in understanding.
"Keke, how about it, high priestess? Eighty-three of your people were led astray and committed a grave sin. They got punished by the sky. After all the harm they have caused, you shouldn’t blame us for treating them like criminals." The market host made a steeple of his fingers with a faint smirk.
Under this situation, the Elysion Church would take a huge hit and impact for sure. After the defamation that would ruin one’s reputation and integrity, they would ensure the Elysion Church suffered a great financial loss as well.

"High priestess, we’re innocent!"
"Saintess, please believe us!"
"We never tried to summon a demon!"
"Hiks, hic..."
Some young mages voiced their grievances to those who had come to their rescue, but they knew it would not be easy to free them.
"We can be careless to those who have no faith and belief in their heart. Those who get themselves involved in the murky water and the suspicious activity will get their faith to be questioned. Now, please tell me, who is the God you serve?"
"The only one almighty supreme, the creation divinity, Goddess El!" The captured mages responded instantly, understanding the applicable secret code in this kind of situation. They stated it with great faith and sincerity, knowing the Supreme Goddess wouldn’t let her faithful servants suffer unjustly.
As for the rest, they answered a bit late, and they copied the exact same line stated by the true believers.
"..." Ella pondered about it. At least, some people answered with complete sincerity, and they also did not exude the aura of a sinner.
Since those outsiders were innocent, then she could convert them to Elysion Religion for their good sake. Unfortunately, for those who only feigned their faith, nobody would save them.
"They’re not our people. Those who faked their faith are no different than heretics. Take them away." Ella pointed to several people.
The mage elders nodded and separated the fake outsiders from the real believers. They knew by heart everyone who worked with them. And the others were nothing but useless plebs.
"Elder, it’s me, Johan. I once attended your class."
"Saintess, please save us! Our faith never fails!"
"This is truly an unjust prejudice! Do you want to forsake us, high priestess!?"
The unchosen people began to raise their voices, burning in anger. The Elysion Chruch wouldn’t save them, and they began to feel desperate.
Some of them might actually be part of the Mage Tower, but those with questionable faith didn’t need to be saved at this time. Unless they would forfeit everything for the Supreme Goddess’ sake, there was nothing to be discussed anymore.
"Oh-o~ Is this how the Elysion Church operates? You chose to abandon those who you deemed useless? That’s rather cold and cruel considering the holy religion of yours originally upheld justice." The market host sighed as if it was very regrettable, but the mock and ridicule were so thick in his remark.
*Swoosh!*
A needle shot out of nowhere, grazing the market host’s cheek. Blood slowly flowed out, but it took a while for the market host to realize the tingling sensation on his cheek.
"What is the meaning of this?! Do you want to wage war with this assassination attempt?" The market host took a step back, covering his bleeding cheek in shock.
The bodyguards, each one no weaker than 6th Rank, immediately came forth, ready to protect the market host.
"What do you mean, mister? You should apply some lotion to your skin so you won’t be grazed by a wild bee’s stinger." Ella feigned ignorance.
"You, little..." The market host clenched his fist, but he soon regained his composure. "The grave sin they had committed is already known to the world. So, how do you want to settle this matter, high priestess? Counting all the damage, harm, and injuries they have caused, and also the dangers they have invited into the world, this will not be resolved with just numbers."
Ella replied with a smile, the one that held no warmth. She raised her hand, and a small, glowing gray crystal appeared on her palm. "This is a teleportation crystal. It will take you to a place of unimaginable wealth. A mining ground, hidden from the world. It’s filled with gems and treasures beyond your wildest dreams."
The market host’s eyes widened. Greed flickered in his gaze. "A mine of unimaginable treasure, you say? You want to use it to redeem the sins of these worthless criminals?"
"They are not worthless nor criminals. They are innocent believers, wrongfully taken due to the orchestrated scheme of the heretics." Ella gazed upon the mages. They got released from those iron cages with a relieved look.
Without counting the fake, all the important Magic Tower members managed to be saved. Although they received some physical abuse, they were still safe and sound nonetheless.
When the market host approached to take the teleportation crystal from Ella’s hand, Ella took a step back and immediately threw a warning as a precedent. "You, the Slave Market, might take it and mine the resources and treasures to your heart’s content. However, I warn you. Never touch our people. We shall punish the sinners in our circles. Those who got themselves involved with a personal interest in mind shall be judged as heretics. We don’t mind exterminating a few violators."
Just like was like what the Slave Market and Hunter Association often said to those who lost their rights as people. They called those who got punished by the sky for violating the forbidden rules violators, and the Elysion Church could also impose their own rules with such extreme punishment to the violators of their laws.
