Chapter 27: Post-Coital Clarity

Mark was reclined on the black stone throne, with Aria naked on top of him.

His breathing was heavy, his body still trembling slightly from the exertion, and his mind was blank.

Completely blank.

’Fuck. That was... intense.’

Aria had her head resting on Mark’s chest, her arms wrapped around him as if she feared he’d disappear if she let go.

And on her face was a smile of pure happiness.

Mark looked at her, watching how her golden hair fell across her face, and felt a strange mix of emotions.

He sighed, running a hand through his messy hair.

’Okay, Mark. Think. What the hell are you doing?’

He stared up at the ceiling of the chamber, watching the glowing runes pulse with that blood-red light.

And then, without warning, his mind began to wander.

’My life back in the other world was shit... complete and utter shit.’

The image of his old apartment flashed in his mind.

Small, dark, with that persistent damp smell he could never get rid of no matter how much he cleaned. The walls were so thin he could hear his neighbors arguing at all hours.

His bed was an old mattress on the floor, and his kitchen consisted of a two-burner electric stove and a microwave that barely worked.

The worst part?

He worked customer service for a telecom company. Eight hours a day listening to people scream at him over problems that weren’t his fault, while pretending to care about their stupidity.

Eight hours a day dying slowly inside.

All for a miserable salary that barely covered rent and food.

Mark closed his eyes, feeling a sharp pang in his chest.

’My parents didn’t want me... or rather, they never did.’

Mark remembered the last time he’d spoken to them. It had been Christmas, two years ago.

His mother had told him, in that cold, distant voice she always used with him, not to bother visiting because they were busy.

’I was always a disappointment to them because I didn’t go to the college they wanted. I didn’t get the job they expected. I didn’t become the successful son they could brag about to their friends. I was just... Mark.’

Mark clenched his teeth, feeling the familiar anger bubbling in his chest.

’And my girlfriend... my ex-girlfriend.’

Her image appeared in his mind, but he shoved it away quickly—it would only make him angrier.

Mark remembered the nights he spent playing Eternal Conquest Online.

Hours and hours in front of the screen, grinding online while flaming his guildmates and trolling. Turning his character, "DarkLord69," into the most powerful necromancer on the server.

’In the game, I was someone... I mattered. But in real life... in real life, I was nobody.’

Mark opened his eyes, staring at the ceiling again.

He still remembered his firing. His boss—a bitter guy with bad breath—calling him into the office to say they were restructuring and needed to cut costs.

’And then I died,’ Mark thought bitterly.

But then he looked down at Aria again.

She was still smiling against his chest, completely oblivious to his thoughts.

Mark felt a smile tug at his own lips.

’At first I didn’t understand why I was here. But now...’

Mark ran his hand through Aria’s hair, feeling its softness under his fingers.

She shivered at the touch, pressing herself closer.

’Now I have three beautiful women who would do anything for me. Three women who, in my old life, wouldn’t have given me a second glance... but who now adore me, need me, love me.’

That last thought stung a little.

’Well... love is a strong word, considering they’re programmed to love me. It’s not real, but... does it matter? Does it really matter if it’s real or not? At the end of the day, I can’t undo what I’ve already done.’

Mark glanced around the chamber.

’And now I have a dungeon... a safe place where I can hide.’

Mark’s smile widened.

’All my needs are covered.’

Food?

He could send Yuki to sneak out and get it.

Shelter?

He had the entire dungeon to himself.

Sex?

Mark looked down at Aria again, feeling the warmth of her body against his.

’Yeah. That’s definitely covered.’

Mark leaned back further into the throne, feeling a strange sense of... peace.

’So... if I had the chance to go back... if someone showed up right now and said, "Mark, you can return to your world. You can go back to your old life." Would I really go?’

The question lingered in his mind for a moment.

And the answer came almost immediately.

’Absolutely not. Not in a million years... Here I have people who need me,’ he thought, gently stroking Aria’s head.

Mark closed his eyes, savoring the moment, feeling Aria’s breasts brush against him.

’Yeah... this is perfect.’

Mark was on the verge of drifting off when he felt something.

Lips pressing against his.

Soft, warm, insistent.

Mark opened his eyes to find Aria kissing him, eyes closed, expression full of renewed desire.

She pulled back slightly, looking at him with those bright, lust-filled eyes.

"Master," she whispered, voice hoarse and needy. "Again. Please."

Mark blinked, processing her words.

’Again? Already? Seriously? Shit, this woman is insatiable. Well, I guess I did program her that way... Of course she’d want more.’

"Aria," Mark said, trying to sound firm but kind, "I think that’s enough for now."

Aria pouted.

An adorable pout that almost made Mark change his mind.

Almost.

"But, Master—"

"Aria," Mark interrupted, placing a finger over her lips. "You’d better get dressed."

Aria blinked, confused.

"Dressed? Why, Master? I thought you liked seeing me like this."

’Oh, I do. Definitely do.’

"Because if Ely or Yuki come back and see us like this..."

Mark paused, imagining the scene with perfect clarity.

Ely walking through the door and seeing him with a naked Aria on top of him.

Her expression shifting from surprise to jealousy to fury in seconds.

Probably saying something like:

"Master, what the hell is going on here?"

And then:

"Master, it looks like Aria needs a lesson."

Mark shivered.

"...they’d probably try to kill you," he finished. "And I don’t want drama right now. I’ve got enough going on."

Aria frowned, clearly disappointed.

"But, Master, I just wanted to spend more time with you... without Ely or Yuki interrupting."

’Okay... that was surprisingly sweet.’

"I know," Mark said, this time with a genuine smile. "And I appreciate your... enthusiasm. Really. But..."

"But?" Aria tilted her head.

"Ely and Yuki will be back any minute. And when they do, I need to be ready to start running this dungeon."

Aria let out a dramatic sigh but nodded.

"Fine, Master."

She climbed off the throne, and Mark couldn’t help but admire her naked body for a few more seconds.

’Okay... maybe I should’ve gone for another round.’
