My Kingdom Building Done Right!-Chapter 65: Daedalus To The Rescue!
For a brief moment, Leone blanked out.
He had no idea on how to react to Jason’s declaration, which made him glance at Ulric to ask for his help.
But, Ulric was busy looking at Jason. He was trying to understand why the young man had chosen this path. Left with no choice, Leone decided to ask Jason a question.
"Jason, what do you mean when you said that all of you will shed your tribe’s name and become part of my tribe?" Leone asked.
"Sir Leone, I know that you might be feeling confused right now," Jason replied. "It is very understandable because we decided things on our own. Please, allow me to explain our wish to you as simple as possible. Right now, You, Sir, do not belong to any tribe, or faction.
"The Alborin Tribe, and the Riverfang Tribe can be considered as your allies. I’m sure that they will follow your orders, because they respect and look up to you. However, when there is a conflict in opinion, there is a chance that they will reject your orders.
"Of course, I’m not saying that they will do this. But at the end of the day, the Alborin Tribe is led by Sir Ulric, and the Riverfang Tribe is led by Sir Kael. You don’t have anyone under you, who would follow your orders without questions.
"I, and my tribe members, who have now shed our tribe name will become part of the faction that you plan to build. Even if the Alborin Tribe, or the Riverfang Tribe part ways with you, we will stay by your side until the very end."
Leone may not fully understand what Jason was trying to say, but he got the gist of it.
If he was the King, then Ulric, and Kael could be considered his Dukes who follow his orders. But, these Dukes had their own territories, and people to manage.
What Jason wanted to do was for his tribe to become Leone’s people. If the King lived in the capital city, this meant that those who also lived in the capital city followed the King’s order directly without any hesitation.
When he realized this, Leone’s expression became serious.
"Are you serious?" Leone asked. "If you do this, the Black Wolf Tribe will be no more."
"Sir, the fact that we are willing to shed our name proves how serious we are," Jason replied. "There is no tribe in the Borderlands who will willingly shed down their tribe’s name unless it was a matter of life and death."
Faced with Jason’s seriousness, Leone didn’t know what to do. Everything was happening so fast, and he felt that he was caught between a rock and a hard place.
But, perhaps Jason noticed Leone’s expression, or he had already anticipated this to happen, he spoke calmly, and tried to ease the situation.
"I know that Sir Leone might not be able to make a decision right away," Jason said calmly. "So, we will wait for your decision. But, let me say this to you, Great Chieftain. If you wish to build a Kingdom, you don’t only need to have capable vassals by your side.
"You also need people, who will stand at the very center of your rule... people who will not hesitate, not waver, and not question when you give your command."
Jason lowered his head as he spoke those words, his voice steady, yet filled with an unwavering resolve.
"People who will follow you not because of alliances, or mutual benefit... but because they have chosen you to lead them."
Silence fell over the area.
Ulric, and Kael looked at Jason deep in thought. They had underestimated the young man’s resolve, and seeing him bare everything made them realize that compared to him, they were still lacking.
"I understand..." Leone spoke after a few minutes had passed. "But, I can’t give you my reply right away. Please, give me two days to think it through."
"Yes, Sir," Jason replied. "I’m sorry for making this selfish request."
Leone sighed and bid everyone to stand up and return to their seats. The lively atmosphere earlier had become a little heavy, so Daedalus decided to come to the rescue!
"Everyone! My Master had also prepared a special event today. An event not only for the warriors, but to everyone that is gathered here to celebrate his birthday," Daedalus said.
Leone blinked once then twice because he had no idea what Daedalus was talking about. The only special event that he had in mind was to officially recognize Kael, and Jason as his vassals.
However, the Grimoire pretended that it didn’t see its Master’s confusion.
"We will now play a game!" Daedalus replied. "Like I said earlier, this is open to all tribe members. Even the children can join this game! And the prize? A beast that you can use as a mount!
"It can be anything. It can be a Raptor, a Wolf, A Bear, or any creature that is available in my list! But, I’m telling you now, Gryphons, Dragons, and Pegasus are not part of that list, so don’t shoot for the stars!"
When everyone heard the Grimoire’s declaration, the Black Wolf Tribe, and the Riverfang Tribe immediately sat in attention. All of them felt envious of the Raptors of the Alborin Tribe, so having a similar one would definitely be a good thing!
Seeing that everyone momentarily forgot the heavy atmosphere earlier, Daedalus pressed in while the iron was still hot.
"We will have three winners, and the condition for winning is simple! All you need to do is spin this wheel!"
Daedalus took out something similar to the Wheel of Fortune. But, the difference this time was that it was bigger than the one that Leone used.
There were still 50 slots in the wheel, but only three of them had prizes.
And that prize was none other than the three of the fifty Uncommon Mount tickets that Leone got as a reward after completing his Seventh Mission.
Daedalus took out two more spinning wheels so that everyone would be able to spin without waiting too long.
"Allow me to explain the rules," Daedalus said. "When you spin the wheel, and the pointer stops on the ticket symbol, that means that you ’passed’ the first step. Since there is a chance that more than three of you will get the winning ticket, we will have an elimination match afterwards.
"The three remaining participants will win the Exchange Ticket, which will allow them to choose one beast that they can use as a mount! Easy enough to understand, right?"
""Yes!""
The excited crowd immediately voiced their agreement.
"Well then, fall in line!" Daedalus said. "Ulric, Kael, and Jason, please make sure that no one will spin the wheel more than once. Those who break this rule will be punished!"
Ulric, Kael, and Jason nodded and asked the people to line up in the spinning wheel that they wanted to spin.
Daedalus returned to Leone’s side, who thanked him for saving the day.
"We can talk later, Leone," Daedalus said. "I know that you are confused right now, so let’s calm down first before you make a decision."
"I understand." Leone nodded. "I was just surprised because I didn’t see that one coming."
"True. I also didn’t think that Jason is capable of doing something like this. He’s more decisive than I expected."
"Indeed."
For now, the two watched as the tribe members tried their luck.
Leone couldn’t help but chuckle when he saw that he wasn’t the only one with bad luck when it came to spinning the wheel of fortune.
Some of the warriors had dejected faces after they didn’t get a prize, reminding him of his expression when he first spun the wheel of fortune.
