Chapter 61: Chapter 61

At the corner of his mouth seemed to be something red in color that rolled down his chin. The commander’s eyes now locked on one person and one person only.

Boazhai

Boom, the demon moved and rushed towards Boazhai. Its hand grabbed onto Boazhai’s throat. They both began to exchange blows. Boom, they crashed into the walls and got into another part of the tunnel.

Dan watched them go deeper into the darkness, his hands were pulsating. He needs to find a way to finish all these.

"Renjiro...I need to find Renjiro"

Dan turned to search around the room, and there he was with a blade that swiftly moved through the crowd.

Dan took hold of Nate’s hand as he navigated through the chaos. With his fast reflexes, he was able to dodge all the attacks that were being sent his way. He moved with so much speed and a goal in mind, how to bring an end to this chaos.

Dan took a leap as he landed close to Renjiro.

Renjiro’s cold gaze met with his.

"How do we end all this?"

At first, Renjiro didn’t want to say anything.

"I know you hate me, but we have no choice but to work together if we want to save everyone."

And finally Renjiro’s face softened.

"Follow me."

Renjiro took the lead as they headed through a tunnel. The place was dark with little illumination. Slowly, they began to leave the echoes of the battlefield.

So you need to be on guard. The place we are heading to is being heavily guarded by some creatures.

Dan nodded back in understanding when suddenly something arose from the darkness and barged into Renjiro, its horns piercing deep into him.

It’s collusion drove Renjiro into a corner. The beast then raised its claw, ready to slash down on Renjro when something streaked across the air and pierced its throat. The beast now slowly fell of Renjiro.

Blood began to drip down his sides, and Renjiro’s vision started to blur slowly. Dan pulled his blade out of the beast and walked over to Renjiro.

Dan helped Renjiro to apply pressure to the wound, but that didn’t slow the bleeding. Renjiro grabbed onto Dan’s hand.

His face began to grow darker, and from his lips, blood dripped. He pushed Dan’s hand away and placed his own hand on it.

"I’ll be fine," he said as he began to curl up near the wall, and he tried to pull himself off the wall. Using his blade, he supported himself as he got up, but he immediately fell back down. Dan rushed to help him, but Renjiro immediately pushed him away as he winced.

Dan immediately stepped back, his expression blank. Like a statue, he stood and watched Nate walk over to Renjiro and helped him apply pressure on the wound.

Nate’s expression was horrified.

"Please don’t die," Nate said with terror within his eyes.

And for the first time since the battle began, Renjiro broke a smile on his face, his hands reached out to Nate. He placed it on Nate’s hair and rubbed it.

"I’ll be fine, fate didn’t show me dying here."

Fate

Dan’s eyes widened.

"But then if fate could show you that, then why didn’t they show you the beast coming?"

Renjiro’s smile was still brimming as he spoke to Nate.

"Well, looking into the future every now and then has a way of draining you. It could also mess with one’s sense of perception of reality.... You won’t be able to know what is real and what is not."

Nate stared at Renjiro

"What I am saying is that no matter how strong one is, looking into the future always has a strong backlash, and so we don’t use it often."

Renjiro was now finding it hard to keep conscious, his eyes slowly closing. His attention now moved to Dan.

Renjiro then placed his hand within his armour, and from within it he pulled out a kind of parchment. He then stretched his hands toward Dan.

Dan watched as the parchment was aggressively soaking up the blood that was on Renjiro’s hand.

Dan looked into Renjiro’s eyes and then back at the parchment.

"You’re our last hope," Renjiro spoke under his breath.

Dan looked into Renjiro’s eyes before nodding and turning to leave.

Nate... look after him," Dan said.

Nate’s eyes began to waver tears started to come up. He looked at Dan leaving and the bleeding Renjiro.

It’s alright, stay with him Dan spoke as he left both of them, his figure sinking into the shadows, not to be seen again by the two.

As Dan strode away, the darkness engulfed him, just the little flame that he held lit his path as he got through. He used the light to take a look at the map, it was quite detailed for something drawn on beast skin. But that wasn’t what was important now but the fact that he needed to get to the killing stone before the demons did.

He kept moving through corners till he finally landed in a large room. The room was quite moist and chilly, too. It had a kind of musky scent, looking at the map one more time it showed that he had arrived at his destination.

He could hear the water dripping as it touched the ground. looking at the map one more time he saw the instructions placed by Renjiro. A blood sacrifice would need to be made. Stepping forward was an elevated platform, it had various inscriptions and drawings. At its center was a whole, Dan didn’t know why but he had an ominous feel toward it.

Placing his hand into it he waited and nothing happened. His heart began to beat wildly, sweat began to roll down his face. Some even got into his eyes but then nothing happened.

Until the hole sealed shut, clasping onto his hand, his eyes had now turned red from the sweat that had gotten into them but nothing out of the ordinary happened.

Click!!!

He heard a sound come from within the elevated platform, the click was now followed by the cogging of wheels within it.

Dan felt as his blood was being drained, his face began to turn pale. The cogs of the wheel squealed as they moved. But the faster they moved, the faster Dan’s vision became hazy.

Slowly, his fingers began to grow numb. The numbness began to spread up his arms til it had gotten to the point he couldn’t feel the pain of being pierced. And then it stopped, the platform opened up letting his hand go. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

His hand was now pale, and then he heard a click within the platform. Something opened, the platform began to glow red.

But as the room began to glow red, a powerful aura began to released within the place. Dan’s breathe began to seize, it was as though there wasn’t any air within the place anymore. Using his hand he grabbed onto to his chest as he fell down on one knee.

Slowly, the pressing aura began to die down instead a warm feeling feeling began to spread within him. His heart began to beat faster, every beat harder than the last. He could feel a new found wave energy coursing through him.

By instincts he began to walk toward the platform and looked into it.

As he stared into it he gasped as his eyes widened.
