My Life In A Fantasy, Women-Dominated World-Chapter 142: Is This Not Heroic?
"Hello dear netizens, I have brought some news that would interest nearly all of you.
A new ’Hero’ in the making."
Rye spoke eloquently, dressed in formal pant and shirt as she gazed into the camera with a small smile.
Her delinquent look was submerged inside as not even she was allowed to ruin their guild’s decorum by dressing like a teenage bully.
Most of her piercings were gone, only two small earrings hanging down her earlobe while her short hair were tied back in a short ponytail.
If someone hadn’t seen her before, they would surely assume that she was the typical serious corporate worker who followed the rules down to the letter.
However in the entire room, no one could care less about her looks as her words were the true attention.
But she was a woman who considered her words a precious resource, as she spared the useless speech that her underlings had painstakingly written.
With a swipe of her hand, a holographic screen was propped up beside her as her lips curled into a cold but beautiful smile.
"Meet Aaron Cross, from the small city of Snombi and living in a state that I can only term as low-key." she began, playing a small recording of Aaron walking through the Laby road.
The shocking thing was that this was a recording of the time when Claire was injured, as she was in his arms, getting carried through the road while Jaq walked nearby.
It was needless to say that this wasn’t quite a usual view, and most of the news viewers were interested in seeing a man carrying a woman in the open.
And by the look of it, it wasn’t the first time it had happened as they seemed too... casual about it.
Then the scene changed again and finally, the main clip of the morning was played.
The one that Aaron was actually on the edge about.
There he was, dressed in a dark, cool looking leather armor, his swordstaff resting in his hand with a practiced grace as he slashed at an incoming horde of the goblins.
From the eyes of the cohort, this video was clearly edited.
At that time he was wearing no cool armour but instead a goofy looking and disproportional armour that was forced upon him by his loving Eva.
In addition, the editor had also clipped out the parts that showed Lia’s involvement in the battle. No credits were given to the poor anemomancer as the clip continued.
Aaron kept cutting and gutting down the horde, finishing a goblin with one or two slashes at max.
With the enhancement of lighting and professional level of edits and sounds, the video had stopped being mediocre and turned into an actual scene that could be used in movies!
Seeing it, Aaron felt that the editor had truly did him justice and provided the best quality he could hope for, but little did he know, Rye was only getting started.
Once all the goblins were killed, Rye paused the video and smiled wider, taking the mic.
"If you think that’s not that impressive, then you’re wrong, my lovely supporters.
Those goblins were over level 20 each, and cutting them with such grace could only suggest that this man is quite a high levelled male."
Then she shook her head.
"But, that’s not really something heroic, right? What’s the heroism in slaying some foolish greenskins?"
She said to herself.
And then, she changed her voice to be a little higher pitched and squeaky, "But my awesome Rye, you said he is a hero in the making!"
She changed her voice to normal, nodding.
"Of course."
With that, the scene on the screen changed again, showing a darkened view that made Aaron and cohort’s breath freeze.
"No fucking way..." Claire breathed out with wide eyes.
"Those paparazzis..." Eva grit her teeth, stomping to the bed and taking a seat at the front.
Her body blocked the view of Lia, but the mature woman didn’t bother to address it as she only shifted her position so she could view the TV.
After all, the ongoing drama was too juicy for her to miss.
Who knows how a professional guild like the buzznet will twist this horror show to make Aaron look good?
She wasn’t left waiting for long as the zoomed out shot began to close up, showing the time when the Sanguini guild members were entering the stadium and the mimic went into hiding in the darkness.
It was sped up without any voices except for audio effects, but it didn’t make it any less fearsome.
For obvious reasons, the gore was censored or edited out, only giving a fleeting view of the killing before showing the remaining survivors who were backing up.
Then, the spotlight fell.
Scarlet jumped out of the helicopter, her red hair flailing in the wind as she moved towards the survivors while the mimic was on the ground, looking as fearsome as ever.
The video then cut to a Sanguini woman breathing out ’Thank god...’ on the TV before the mimic teleported behind her.
The gore was censored but everyone could see her condition as the woman’s heart was in the monster’s hand, using it like a tennis ball which he hurled at Scarlet.
Scarlet said something inaudible before launching a huge fireball at the monster which he managed to dodge.
But then, the fireball curled in the air and began to fly back towards the mimic’s wide open back at an astonishing velocity.
However, before the promised impact could occur, the video turned to look at Aaron.
He was dressed in his normal clothes, no cool black armour or Eva’s goofy armour, just his form fitting clothes that flailed in the wind, showing off his muscles that hid underneath.
When the shirt pressed against his stomach, firm abs were visible for a fleeting second before he whispered two words with a surprising amount of calmness.
"Reverse senses." He said a mere second before the explosion happened.
The voices were no longer muted and everyone could hear the mimic’s harrowing scream.
"So, is that not heroic?" Rye smirked widely, pausing the video at that exact moment.
